Future video suggestion: postpartum recovery. It seems like women are left alone after birth with minimal information on recovery, mood changes, breastfeeding, etc. It can be a really intense time.
Thanks for addressing the anterior placenta question! I was informed at my 20 week ultrasound that my placenta was anterior, and it was nice to hear your professional take on it (on top of what my doctor told me). I can attest that I don't feel movements/kicks like my pregnant friends describe. Typically I have to hold my stomach to really feel his movements. Congrats to all the mamas! Stay strong!
Sarah, I seriously adore your channel. You provided a lot of good info to me during my pregnancy and I just want to applaud you for your wisdom. I’ve studied birth and birthwork for yeeeears; I’ve devoured clinical studies and journals and books etc., and everything you talk about and the advice you give is spot on - which isn’t a given, as I’ve seen some birthworkers/nurses/even doctors give some really bogus or outdated advice, or they don’t explain things in the easily digested level of detail you do. Thank you for your contributions to the community!! 💙💙
my goodness this is SUCH A MASSIVE COMPLIMENT!!! Thank you so so much seriously and I'm so glad to be able to help!!! xoxoxox yay for Sweden I'm part Swedish!
40 weeks and 5 days tonight at midnight I will be getting induced with cervidil then pitocin. You video has helped me so much and helped ease my mind and my husband. Its our first. Thank you!! We packed some of your items in your bag in ours to help me relax.
I love this girl so much!!!! I listened to a lot of biased videos with my first pregnancy because I didnt know better. Now pregnant seconds time around I have been seeking balanced advice and Sarah is my favorite.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’m 16 weeks pregnant with my first and had a scan at 12 weeks and was told I had an anterior placenta. The sonographer wasn’t great at asking my questions nor has been my midwife (I’m from UK). Thank you! X
SO glad your back, I LOVE your videos and they are so educational and I am so used to the generic information about pregnancy but your "when to go to hospital" video like, blew my widdle closed mind because I am pregnant with my second but had to have a c-section with my first. She was VERY breech so I had no labor at all. So I'm a good candidate for a v-bac but still lost about the labor process!
I have recently started watching your videos. Second baby after 9 years and first delivery was terrible. I'm so excited for this labor experience! Thank you!!
Love, love, love your videos! I’m a first time mom, due in May!! Since we can’t afford birthing classes, your page has helped me out so much with educating myself before I go into labor. Thank you for everything you do ❤️
I have been following one and all of your videos. Can't thank you enough for sharing such immensely helpful tips with us. Appreciate it from the core of my heart. Lots of warm wishes for you.
Due on Monday with our first bundle and so pumped to get this going! Really trying to relax and not get too stuck on when it's going to happen. Your videos have been such a resource! Thank you for your time ❤❤❤
Thank you for answering my question, Sarah! :) I love your videos and recommended your online class to a few people. I would love to see a video of yours on postpartum care for mom. I know it would be so informative and helpful as well as fun and reassuring. You really are the best.
Sarah Lavonne Birth talks always seem to end at pushing the baby out. It doesn’t have to be a whole 4th trimester or even the 6 weeks, although that would be great. But even just the postpartum in the hospital from placenta delivery to first pee and poop, managing the bleeding and pain, etc... Thank you, Sarah. :)
Oh wow!!! Had my last baby 21 years ago.....I needed this lady so much. Btw, My first baby weighed 4lb 12 oz. No one was worried. They said she was meant to be tiny and would always be tiny. She was not considered a low birthweight baby and the doctors said she was just perfect😊 She's 4'11" today at age 25. Good luck future new moms!! Having children was the best thing I've ever done. I love being a mother and will be a grandmother any day now!!! I'm so excited!!!!
Stumbled across your videos through someone i follow on IG and i'm so thankful! I'm due with our 3rd HG baby in May and this pregnancy has been completely left field. I feel like i've never experienced pregnancy before. ( just like the whole anterior placenta is new to me this time!) So i appreciate these!
Absolutely love your channel! I gave birth two weeks ago and binge watching your videos really helped to prepare me for what to expect. Contractions were bearable up to 5 1/2 cm, then the midwife gave me pictocin to make things go faster. Things went downhill from there as it relates to pain and I basically gave myself an episiotomy..... not fun at all.
Hi, I'm following you from Algeria and I really love your videos which I've learned a lot from them.I'm 31 weeks ans Il can't wait to meet my Baby girl. This is my second pregnancy but I'm learning a lot from you.thank you so Much.love from Algeria
I'm bingeing all your videos I find on my recommended 😂 I love your content and it's making this first pregnancy much easier for me, thank you so much for all these 💖
Hi Sarah!! You should totally make a personal (non-mama) channel! I would love to keep up with you and your life even when I'm not about to deliver a baby. Love your perspective on life and your demeanor!
37w4d with my 2nd and have really enjoyed your videos! I was very unfortunate in my first delivery to tear in the front, back and one side! I didn’t even know people could tear in the front! I’m really hoping for no tears this time!
I’m due in July with my first and worried about tearing also. Have you heard of perineal massages? If not you could try it to see if it helps. You basically massage/stretch that skin to help stretch it before birth.
Hello Sarah! 😁 I was wondering if you could please mention Symphysis Pubis Diastasis in your next q&a video please. I’m 25 weeks pregnant and have it & I don’t have a midwife yet but I’d like know if it’s a bad thing or not? Love your videos, they’ve made me feel so much more relaxed & excited about going into child birth! 😄
Hi Sarah! My question is regarding providers- how do you choose a provider? What are the pros and cons of working with a midwife vs ob/gyn? (Hospital birth)
Please please please make a VBAC video!!! I’ve got my doula ✅ And I trust my doctor (although he may only be VBAC tolerant) ✅ I’m still so nervous! Especially about the internal contraction monitoring
Sarah! Question for you! My local hospital offers epidurals and also something called an intrathecal (intrathecal narcotics) which from what I understand is a one time injection into the lower back and it allows you to still walk around/go in the birth tub/be on the birth ball/etc. while still providing great pain relief like an epidural does. Can you speak to this procedure and give details on your experience if you have witnessed an intrathecal? Thank you!!!
This video made me laugh so hard!!! .."and your baby is just kinda being smushed.." but that's okay! still getting oxygen and nutrients! Such a great video series!!!
I always measured 4-5 weeks ahead and I ended up going into labour at 37.5 weeks and birthed a 9lb baby via c/section because she just wouldn’t come out even after 50 hours of back to back contractions. Imagine if I went past my due date??? They’d be going straight to high school from the womb. I was 8.5lbs and 6 weeks early and my partner was 10.5 lbs when he was born. Hoping for baby #2 soon but please pray for my vagina. 😐🤞🏻💖
Sarah, could you please do a video on breastfeeding, with an emphasis on milk supply and how to increase it? Like are there any supplements you can take? Special teas? Etc.
I live almost an hour from the nearest Trader Joe's, but I love them so much! I'm gonna make a run in a couple weeks (I'm due in March) and while I'm there pick out a variety of snacks for my nurses!
I love your videos so much!! Im currently 30 weeks & 2 days along with my second daughter. I have been feeling intense and sudden pains in my vagina for a few weeks now. It lasts for a few seconds but it gets pretty intense at times and I'm expecting a foot or arm to pop out lol. My belly is feeling really tight too and the obgyn said baby is measuring big. What exactly does that mean? Sorry but its been over 7 yrs since my last pregnancy and everything has been alot different and tougher this time around. Thank you for your videos. I've learned so much from you.
Only thing my dr told me when I found out I have an anterior placenta was that the placenta is cushioning his kicks so that's why i wasnt feeling him kick @ 20 wks they said to give it another mo & I'd start finally feeling him I ended up feeling him kick @ 22 wks. I also have a heart shaped uterus which is common in those w/ endometriosis like I have forget the tech term but it's not the bicornate one it's one of the others but she said depending on where the placenta attaches he might be breached which he was @ 20 & 22 wks now I'm @ 28 wks & I'm hoping he'll turn on his own
My poor sister in law is tiny. Double zero waste and her baby was 12lbs. She struggled in active labor for 36 hours to ultimately have to have an emergency C-section. Idk how she did it that long.
Hey Sarah Thanks for the videos , they have been so informative and now I know what to expect and how to navigate through it I have one question though.... When opting for a natural birth, is it always guaranteed that you'll tear?
Can you do a video on intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy? I have it, and have had it for 2/3 of my babies, and I can never find educational videos on it.
Should I be worried about this really sore spot that gets aggravated when I stand in my lower right side of my abdomen? I also felt an intense flash of pain in my left side followed by a tugging/ripping sensation. I’m 7.5 months along
Hi, I have been binge watching your channel for a week so far. I had a question about if there were any tips for postpartum care after giving birth or a C section. Im currently 11 weeks.
Can you make a video about inducting earlier due to medical issues? I am currently 37 weeks 3 days, My son has IUGR. We have an induction date set at 39 weeks but we may be induced sooner depending on his next growth scan. With IUGR waiting past 37 causes risk for still birth but also I know smaller babies sometimes can’t handle the stress of labor. What do you think is the best decision for us?
Im 29+4 today October 2nd 2019 and i have an anterior placenta this is my third baby I had five miscarriages so it's my 8th pregnancy. I had my son and September 2006 I had a lot of problems at delivery and almost died.. I was in a medically-induced coma for three days..i had HELLP syndrome and became septic when my amniotic fluid became infected and it spread to my lungs uterus blood my entire body basically..my son had to have oxygen and antibiotics for his lungs because they were infected from the amniotic fluid.. I had five miscarriages between January 2007 and December 2016.I never had money for any type of fertility treatments but all of a sudden in June 2017 I got pregnant in the baby stuck I now have a 19 month old daughterand my c-section is scheduled for December 11th 2019 for a baby boy.. I was really nervous about having an anterior placenta with my daughter because we only firm and have cows and I feed the calves and I was afraid the Cavs would hit me in the stomach and my placenta would detach but everything was okay and this pregnancy seems to be going pretty well.I love your videos you're so informative you're not afraid to say how it is you don't candy Co things to take fairaway you just give very informed videos and all the information we need to make our own decisions. Definitely happy I found you this pregnancy
Yes!! I was told my first was going to be 8-9lbs. He was 6lbs 8oz. That was by ultrasound. My second was guessed at 7&1/2 pounds. He was 7lbs 6oz. It was by my doctor feeling my belly. Weights are just a guess no matter how you do them!
Lol lucky you! My belly measured 4-5 weeks ahead and it was assumed I’d have a big baby but I wasn’t worried, I didn’t think my body would give me a baby I couldn’t birth. BOY WAS I WRONG. I went into labour at 37 weeks, after 50+ hours of ACTIVE labour and back to back contractions I birthed a 9.1lb baby via emergency c/s because she just wouldn’t come out. Imagine if I had gone overdue?! I was 8.5lb and 6.5 weeks early and my husband was 10.5 lbs when he was born so maybe it’s just in our genes to have jumbo babies. Lol Hoping for baby #2 but pray for my vagina 🤞🏻😐😂
So is there a way to tell if you’ll have back labor? I’ve had back pain since week 18 of pregnancy and an anterior placenta. My biggest fear is back labor 😬
I have a question about Craniosynostosis. My son was born with Craniosynostosis and they had to cut me to let him out. I am now expecting my second baby in September. Should I expect to need a cut again even if she doesn't have Cranio? I feel as though I would not have tore or needed the cut if my son's sagittal suture was not fused before birth.
Hi sarah, Im in my 36 wks with my first baby. im 39 yrs old. I wanna go through natural birth but just in case i cant do it, would you suggest epidural coz i really dont want Csection. Hope you answer my question. Thank you!
Gal stones, Gal bladder attacks and 21 weeks :x I was rushed to the hospital via ambulance due to galbladder attack and sure enough I have Gal stones. Can that impact the delivery? I'm on a no fat diet rn.
Hello Sarah, Ive been watching your videos for awhile now and I know most are regarding labor. But I have a question. I am 18 weeks and am having lower pelvic pain (4th child) and just making sure that is normal. Thanks
I will be 37 weeks pregnant this Thursday and I have been getting this pain in my pelvic area but at the same time I feel like an almost rubberband kind of pull stretching from my pelvic area towards my inner thigh? Any idea what it is or why?
Sarah, thank you so much for your videos! I’ve learned a lot and it helps to be able to laugh about this stuff. I have a question for your next Coffee & Questions! I’m 34 weeks and have herniated discs from several years ago (L3-4 and 4-5). Never had surgery because doctor didn’t think they were bad enough, and thankfully they haven’t been giving me too hard of a time while pregnant. My OB had me consult with an anesthesiologist though to make sure an epidural will be an option for me. He said the location of the herniations isn’t an issue, but the epidural could possibly cause more back pain after birth because of the disc issues (or it could not!). I would really like to give birth without an epidural, but I have no idea how I will tolerate the pain! Just trying to decide if it will be worth the risk. Do you have any insight/know of any mamas that had a similar situation?
shortest answer ;) you can do it without an epidural. EVERYONE CAN. it will be one of the hardest things you ever do but you can totally do it. Do everything to prep to cope (take my coping with labor class) and then flex and flow in the moment and if you're suffering, nothing is worth your mental health. xoxo
Hi sarah I love this channel so much and have learned so much. So i am currently 32 weeks pregnant and Ive been told by my dr. That i am having 1 baby but a few days ago i went to do a 3d ultrasound not at my dr office and once i got home and was going though and looking through the dvd with all the pictures there is what looks like a very clear second face. My fundel height is measuring a little big but my dr doesnt want to do another ultrasound. What are the chances that they could have missed a second baby?
I am due feb 7 and i am scared of tearing is there anything that can ease the after pain? I seen people put stuff on pads like aloe etc , does this help?
Do you know anything about prodromal labor?! Im 40 weeks and 6 days with my second baby. My midwife swept my membranes for a second time last Thursday, and I have been having contractions since then, but they tend to start, go strong for a few hours, and then they just stop. This is super frustrating, and I was just wondering if you had any advice! I was induced with my first baby, and was hoping to have a natural water birth this time around. Im just a little nervous about being overdue.. my sister had a tramatic experience with her placenta detaching and it was just not good!! I know not all overdue women have that happen to them, but the thought is just kind of scary.
Do you have any tips to help her through labour at home before going to the hospital? I'm due with bubs #2 within the next 9 days and I stuggled with it last time
Im due in 3 weeks , first time around i pushed for 2 hours with no urge to push and 2 hours later they told me that my daughter was facing to the left so i needed to get an episiotomy and try moving her head. Just when they were taking me i had the pushing urge that i couldnt stop and was screaming. Question is This time around now that i know that pushing urge , i want to wait for it and save my energy for that since it was so strong and seriously seconds apart from each other. Do i have to push once i get to 10 cm ? Can i wait for that urge or would i be told i cant wait till i feel it ?
Is it normal to NOT have had any vaginal exams at 37 weeks? I am considered a “High risk pregnancy” due to Gestational Diabetes & the type of care I have been receiving is completely different than with my 1st pregnancy. I will be induced at 39 weeks...I could possibly already be dilated...right :(
Yes. Your cervix is not a magic eight ball. Even if you're currently dilated to let's say a 2 or 3 it doesn't mean you'll be going into labor soon. Some doctors like to do them some don't. But if it is your preference to be checked then I would simply ask your doctor to check you.
YUP! that's the standard! Most providers don't check until 38 or 39 weeks, even 40 some times!! you could be dilated but unless you're in labor it shouldn't make a difference. xoxo
Hi! Im currently 25 weeks pregnant and have had spinal fusion surgery to correct scoliosis. I've been told by my doctor an epidural is not an option. Have you had a patient with this before? If so, do you have any tips? 🧡🧡🧡
I tore when I had my first baby he was 6 pounds 1 ounce what are the chances I tear again? I'm pregnant with baby #2 I'm currently 39 weeks 40 in 2 days and I was told my baby is 7 pounds I'm so nervous about tearing again 😅😬
Killed me that with my first the "Dr" did not explain she was a student..... Her personality totally clashed with mine she gave me a panic attack by the way she was talking and seemed completely unaware until her supper interrupted her. The first few visits she came in without the super and being with a clinic that had 5 midwife's and 7 obs I just thought she was one I didn't meet. Made things very dramatic in a way I feel was unneeded. If I had known earlier I would have asked that she not come back to me. With my second I had an anesthesiologist in training learning proper placement of epidurals. He was great supper calm bedside manner we got along well.
Okay I’ve literally never clicked so fast!! I’ve been binge watching you for a week now as my due date looms!!!! 💕💕💕
hahaha you're so sweet
Future video suggestion: postpartum recovery. It seems like women are left alone after birth with minimal information on recovery, mood changes, breastfeeding, etc. It can be a really intense time.
Totally!!!
Yes please
THIS WOMAN IS HILARIOUS, and of course soooooo helpful. I'm so glad that I discovered this channel and I'm due in 2 weeks, 1st time mama. Thank you 💕😍
Thanks for addressing the anterior placenta question!

Hahaha omg I love makeup!!! "Easy mommy look"? You're so sweet
PS @jaclynhill is how I learned everything!
Sarah do you have any tips on supporting a client through a natural labor while attached to an IV and continuous EFM?
ding ding! sounds like a future coffee & questions video ;)
Yes please!!!!

I have an anterior placenta and I feel plenty of movement. :)

Hey Sarah! Can you do a video on breathing and breath?! Thank you! Love your videos, been a ton of help for me as a first time mom 😊
Laura Walters hi! Thank you!!! It's all in my coping with labor class!!! So much breathing practice and variations!! Xoxo
Awesome! Thanks so much Sarah!
Hey Sarah
Thanks for the videos , they have been so informative and now I know what to expect and how to navigate through it
I have one question though.... When opting for a natural birth, is it always guaranteed that you'll tear?
nope! not at all!
You are amazing thank you for all the super information ❤️ flex and flo
Can you do a video on intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy?
I have it, and have had it for 2/3 of my babies, and I can never find educational videos on it.
Should I be worried about this really sore spot that gets aggravated when I stand in my lower right side of my abdomen? I also felt an intense flash of pain in my left side followed by a tugging/ripping sensation. I’m 7.5 months along
Can you do a video on the different pelvis shapes & what that means, if anything, about vaginal delivery??
Hi, I have been binge watching your channel for a week so far. I had a question about if there were any tips for postpartum care after giving birth or a C section. Im currently 11 weeks.
Can you make a video about inducting earlier due to medical issues? I am currently 37 weeks 3 days, My son has IUGR. We have an induction date set at 39 weeks but we may be induced sooner depending on his next growth scan. With IUGR waiting past 37 causes risk for still birth but also I know smaller babies sometimes can’t handle the stress of labor. What do you think is the best decision for us?
I love your videos!!!
My babies were both a pound smaller than I was told they would be. So much ‘big baby’ fear mongering. Lol
Right!!!!!
Can you do a video about c sections?
Can u plz tell what eyeshadow and lipstick u wearing thanks
So is there a way to tell if you’ll have back labor? I’ve had back pain since week 18 of pregnancy and an anterior placenta. My biggest fear is back labor 😬
Can you explain about causes and results of having low amniotic fluid.
Do you have a video on VBACs and prepping for a VBAC?
Maria-Dawn Thornton not yet! But working on it!!
What about gifts for OB?
Hello Sarah,
Ive been watching your videos for awhile now and I know most are regarding labor.
Do everything to prep to cope (take my coping with labor class) and then flex and flow in the moment and if you're suffering, nothing is worth your mental health. xoxo
Sarah Lavonne Thank you!
Can you talk about coffe while breastfeeding
I'm due next week and abit nervous because I want an all natural birth what should I do
trust in your body and baby and take it one contraction at a time!
xoxo
@@sarahlavonne Thank you
Please do a PP care video! Im due in september and its been 6 years since my 1st was a newborn
What day are you due? I’m due on the 11th of September with my first! I’m super nervous 😬

Taylor Gatlin did you wind up having 2 babies?! I’m so curious to know!
I'm due with bubs #2 within the next 9 days and I stuggled with it last time
Yes!!! Honestly my coping with labor class is it all!!! 💖
There's a risk for infection when doctors check you, so doctors may want to minimize checking patients.
YUP! that's the standard! Most providers don't check until 38 or 39 weeks, even 40 some times!! you could be dilated but unless you're in labor it shouldn't make a difference. xoxo
Beautiful mam
Hi! Im currently 25 weeks pregnant and have had spinal fusion surgery to correct scoliosis. I've been told by my doctor an epidural is not an option. Have you had a patient with this before? If so, do you have any tips? 🧡🧡🧡
take my coping with labor and childbirth classes :) and set up a meeting with an anesthesiologist in your hospital to talk about options
Can you talk more about what you do as a L&D nurse ? I want to be a L&D nurse but I always get “oh so you wanna look at vaginas all day” 🙄🙄
Why am I only hearing music?!?!? I can't hear her... 😔
Change your headphones. Sometimes it helps
@@minimojaan3284 Thank you! It worked! lol
