Quad Bike Part 3 - It Keeps Cutting Out?! 😑

- Back out again today and the thing took me about 45 minutes to start, which was annoying. When it did start it was cutting out. I then adjusted the idle and things were a little better, but why the issues?!
Is this normal!?

@@CM-1723 yes mate. If it’s new, just absolutely thrash the beans off it! Honestly it needs a good old hammering and it sorts it right out. I was advised this and didn’t think it would work but it did!
@@TheRSGarage thanks for replying , mine kept cutting out even on idle so I turned the idle down a bit like u did and it sounded calmer on idle , but still cutting out when pressing the throttle then letting go . Now it won't start at all , did yours ever not start after messing with the idle screw too much ?
@@CM-1723 yes mate. Same thing. Ended up pulling it for ages until it kicked in. Obviously check it’s getting good spark and fuel through and if it is just choke on and give it some gas and pull. Then try and beat on it as much as you can and it hopefully should help. I had the exact same thing!
@@TheRSGarage did you have to screw the idle screw back in after screwing it too far out ?
I don't understand how mine could of been running one minute then just won't start at all . If asked shop if I can swap it , will have see what they say . If not might have to dump this petrol and get some vpower and try deflooding it again . Just hope engine is not knackered . Would it not pull at all if it got seized ?
My mums friend is a mechanic and he said the petrol is not pumping in to the engine so it is not getting enough petrol to keep it running 👍

Hi there mate I got a new quad for my son similar to your one. Having the same issue it’s really frustrating did you have any joy fixing the issue ?
Hey man yes! Basically when it's new you have to drive it round at full beans the whole time for a bit. Flat out everywhere to run it in really. I had issues getting it running but it was sparking and everything and eventually came to life. I adjusted everything, made sure it was tight, lowered the idle and hammered the hell out of it for a bit and now she runs fine! Hope it helps!
Adjust carb not enough fuel
There’s no adjustments on these carbs only idle adjustment- I’d like to see it with the bigger carb- also I’ve found that running on v-power instead of the cheap Ethanol crap makes a big difference
Check the connection going to the ignition coil 👌
Yea great call. So that’s one of the first things I did and checked the spark. It was being inconsistent and the connections were pretty lose and cheap. I’ve made them fit better but might make née connections with better fitting ones. This 2 stroke stuff is all new to me! Thanks!
Do any of the wires from the ignition coil need to be connected I think mine has a green and a black disconnected but then again the kill switch is never used.

Exactly same problem ive got with my daughters,i mucked about with the fuel lever jst moved it little notchseems to hav worked,cpl weeks later same thing hapining
I ended up just full throttling it flat out for a bit. Apparently it needs it.
Mine will start but stays running for about 3 to 5 seconds and then it randomly revs up and stalls. Literally just revs quickly then dies and don't even get the chance to ride it. Any idea what this issue could be?
Check the choke. It often does this when the choke is out, balance the choke amount you use and then thrash the pants off it. Honestly!
@@TheRSGarage will definitely give that a go, thing is the bloody think only starts with choke now and when choke is off it won't start at all hahaha, I go back to choke it wants to start choke off no sign of starting at all. I might have a spare carb and some parts I can try.
@@TheRSGarage It actually runs and seems to work pretty well for now I think what you said worded but also it likes to have more fuel than less to keep it running. My other one starts sometimes but then never again usually, so I might get a replacement carb and sprakplug even though it is getting spark.

My son's quad won't switch off after riding Evan if I press the power button or take the Key out it still runs😪.
ha very strange! Sounds like some of the wiring is not connected to the coilpack properly!

I got told you need to drive the hell out of it and give it stick to run it in! Apparently... but it should get better. What issues are you having??
@@TheRSGarage the exact same problem as the one in the video. I have adjusted the throttle pin and it seems to run a bit better but haven't actually give it a good run since. I'll let you know if it cures it once we take it out again

My son's quad use to do this all the time then we just parked the quad for a year, took it out today now it runs without cutting out but now it doesn't want to switch off when pressing the power button
