Well, I must admit, I am very amazed the way the cars are drifting, it is simply amazing what can you do nowadays, just that watching real cars drift would have been more exciting. :)
@redneck92x it's all user preference, alot of times it depends on the persons budget too. back then we preferred tamiya for its durability, parts availability, and affordable price. if you practice enough you can make any kit drift like crazy.

The tamiya cars range from roughly £100 - 250 for a kit you have to build. You may come across special editions that are more. Tt01d is the pre setup tamiya drift chassis. They can be hard to get hold of now but come with all the hop ups already included. They come with drifting tyres too. Most prices you will see will be for car only. You will need controller, battery for car and controller plus a charger for car battery. I had a charger that would charge either fast or slow...slow was 2 hours

I have a TCFD too. Fantastic chassis imo - though its quite up there when it comes to price. That would have been $660 before any electronics would have gone in. Something like a HPI E10 or Tamiya TT-01 or something is good for starters and will only set you back 200-400 RTR depending on weather or not you want Lipo or not.
@ImmatureHero yes...and a ESC is a speed controler. make sure the motor and esc are compatible also. probably best to get a motor/esc combo they sell if anything.
