  • This was my favorite track layout in a very long time. The only way it could have been better was if the track conditions hadn't been so muddy and slippery. As I mentioned in my video - a huge shout out to the AWRCS crew for the time time spent to put in some very interesting features and bike-only sections. And with about 5 different Hard-Easy obstacle areas, including an EnduroCross section, it was fun and challenging. This race had another full line with 10 of us in the 50-54 class.
I got a great launch at the start but found there was no traction when trying to slow down for the first turn. As I went wide several guys got ahead. I made up several positions and was presumably 2nd. That was until I blew another slippery corner and lost another position. I really lost time when my front end hit a rock or something and about tucked only about 6 minutes in. I saved it from crashing but corrected and went off course. About 28 minutes in, after the several creek crossings and gully ride, I came upon the big hill climb. I lost traction at a critical point near the bottom, lost my momentum right when it was getting steep, and had to back down and take the go-around line. I got better drives the next two laps and, other than dodging a couple stuck riders, I made it no problem. I came around the first lap in 3rd. At the end of the video I got to the point of making a decision on the EnduroCross section. I had said earlier that if there were other riders in there then I was probably going to go around because if they had a problem it could hold me up big time - even if I didn't mess it up myself. Well, I had just let a faster rider by me right before the section - and decided to go ahead and follow him into it anyway.
I ended up running the next two laps, and finishing, in 3rd.
I also have to give a special thanks to the crew at PR2 suspension - who busted butt to get my front end worked out in time for the race. Without those changes there were at least a dozen times I figured a crash was coming but the front end held the line. Now I have to regain some trust in the front end and find some new limits.

Yeah- I haven't for so long, so hopefully I can go as fast as I'd like to without worrying so much about tucking it or not staying on line. Once I get the rear adjusted now to keep up with the front I'll be able to get on the gas sooner with more confidence as well.

What settings are you running in your gopro? I just started putting one on my son in youth but can't seem to find settings that don't take forever to upload, but look good as well? Thanks

Hi. For the basics, I'm running 4K, 60 frames, HyperView, max stability. It does take quite a long time to process and also upload. I usually merge the videos overnight and then its 3-5 hours upploading the 4k to youtube - depending on the video length.
