Slowly but steadily Man City is learning how to manage UCL knockout matches.
You don't build UCL pedigree and legacy overnight, you do that with experience gathered from matches like this.
Many haters and neutral fans doubted City and trolled Guardiola for overthinking and said City will bottle it once again but City proved all of them wrong by a resilient, fighting performance.
Playing against Atletico (1st leg) then playing a crucial EPL match against Liverpool and then again traveling to Spain and playing against Atletico (2nd leg) in their home ground within one week is absolutely draining, both mentally and physically yet City players showed grit, character and didn't lose any of those 3 matches.
City players were visibly tired but still they managed to keep the all important clean sheet.
Massive respect to City players and Guardiola.
Excited for the “Real Madrid-Manchester City” Semifinal.

City are beginning to gain champions league experience now. You don’t always need to play fancy football to get desired results, I think Real Madrid can testify to that, having won it a lot of times. The urgency was with Atleti to get a goal and city just had to soak up pressure and defend with everything they had. Atleti Anti football came back to hunt them in the end.

The coach isn't just a coach who draws tactics and stuff, he is a father figure for the team, he provide psychological approach to the players, gives them advices, helps them. Atletico have the players, technicality, grit, and everything else, but somehow they decided to play ultra defensively for 135 minutes and invite Man City to dominate them, just to decide to attack in one half. If they attacked as they did in the second half from the start they could have probably won the tie with the amount of chances they created.

It was very ugly to watch during first game but Simeone’s game plan almost worked over the two legs. Unfortunately this is probably the only way he could have won it. Fact is that you can’t come to Ethihad and play an open game. The tie would have been done and dusted in Ethihad.
His plan was legit. Played the first 135 mins for a nil nil and attacked city during the last 45 mins with home advantage, nerves and tired legs after the Liverpool game. This was clearly evident in this game.
Perhaps Liverpool (maybe Real Madrid) is the only team right now who have the ability and talent to go toe to toe for the whole 90 mins let alone 180. For other teams to have a chance, they have to play defensive and precise counter attacks. All of City losses this season came through this tactic only.

I see no other team capable of doing this to city besides Atlético. Atlético biggest mistake was not capitalizing on there chances If they had it would’ve been in atléticos favor being in the Wanda and having that momentum.
Don’t get the wrong idea I do believe city are worthy of advancing to semis but the hate atlético is getting for playing a style that doesn’t suit everyone’s liking goes to show how some fans are just not knowledgeable in the game. Man give Simeone and Atleti the credit they deserve. You can say what you want about Simeones style but he turned Atletico from nothing to League winners against Real and Barca TWICE and Champions league finalists TWICE. I never really understand these pundits. It's like they've never played or watched football. This is what tactics are about, it's a 180 minute draw and each team chooses the approach. Turning up doesn't mean "attacking". Loads of team defend as long as possible and then opt for an attack, others do it differently. It's a tactical decision. It's not like you can attack 180 minutes, less against a team with the quality of City.

Keyboard warriors need to realize this is one of the top teams from la Liga, the league with the best track record in the history of European football competition, specially these last 20 years. And in particular they need to realize this is Simeone's Atleti, fighting spirit is their middle name. La Liga teams ALWAYS compete at a maximum level in european competiton knockout stages, often even punching above their weight. Kind of the complete opposite of ManU since Fergie left.
Were people really that naive thinking City were gonna just walk over Atleti?? City's second half today was attrocious, scared rabbits. Atleti ended the game with more shots on goal and more attempts/shots overall, with City time-wasting the last 20 minutes and Atleti even having 2 or 3 clear chances at the end, even when down to 10. Thats a fighting never say die attitude you cant teach in training, you have to inspire it onto your players or be outright born with it. Why do you think Real Madrid wins so much and makes so many comebacks when down??

Simeoni’s strategy of parking the bus 🚌 let him down. The goal they allowed in the first leg is what killer them. Counting on one or two killer chances did not materialize this time around.

Atletico Madrid is a disgraceful team with criminals as players...!!! That's why they were excited to bring in the animal called Suarez who bites opponents. It is good that the trash team is out.

He left it too late. Correa and Carracco when they came on, they were giving City problems especially Correa. Should’ve started them alongside Felix who was making amazing runs where if he had gotten the pass then it would have been 1v1 many times

These guys think they know so much but they would never ever step onto the field. Simeone has done a great job with Atleti and they're allowed to play however they want, there is no right or wrong way to win a game, show some respect.
