  • The supercharger clutch went out on my 2019 Yamaha GP1800R while I was on the river🙄
Had just dropped in and not even 10 minutes of riding I heard a back-fire then no power. Like half throttle was 15 MPH. Made it back but man was it nerv-racking.
So now you all get to see how to install the newer version of the Yamaha supercharger clutch in a waverunner
This should be the same for all the Yamaha Waverunners with the Supercharged 1.8L

Including FZR and FX Cruiser SVHO

how man hours did it take you?

Good video, I am 90 percent sure mine went out, was at the lake yesterday ran good for the 1st lap. Then bam took a crap on me. Made it back to the marina slow and when I gave it gas it shook bad, so slow and easy back to the dock. Did you have about the same experience?

broke the gear even using blow off valve? Do you believe that putting the blow off valve prevents it from breaking?

Awesome video, I had a GP svho. Dealt with the same clutch issues. Then for some reason I decided to get smart LOL went to a GP HO now, and with just a few mods and a tune my HO is getting stock svho speeds and I don't have to worry about supercharger or clutch anymore

Nice video, I got a 2023 year model. I’m pretty sure it’s the clutch. When your clutch was failing did you notice it being difficult to start up in the water? Basically didn’t want to start because it wasn’t making enough boost if that makes sense.

Not one ounce of corrosion on anything!

What is the torque for the six bolts that hold the supercharger to the block? 4 of the bolts are M8 and 2 are M6 so guessing there are two different torques.

just had the same thing happen to mine this weekend. You said a 'newer" version of the gear. do you have a part number or location where I should purchase mine?

    Very helpful

  • @KhernHill

Could you change the timing chain with the engine just stripped this much ? Instead of having to remove it from the hull

  • @richlyons456

    Nice video.

I have a Yamaha FX SVHO it only runs up to 6k rpm and I don’t hear or feel the supercharger. I changed air filter oil spark plugs do you think that it is the clutch that has failed? After about an hour of riding the supercharger turns on and holds but it needs a while before it can turn on and still won’t always stay on. Thanks

Hola querido amigo, te saludo desde Argentina, tu video es genial, quería saber si tengo alguna duda en particular si puedo consultarte.

  • @brandonhenderson7020

If you tilt the ski way back on the trailer you dont have to drain the oil but great job not spinning the motor backwards thats a bad mistake to make

  • @AndTodaysProjectIs

What a great DIY video on this repair man! Question for you. When you pull the rubber hose off of the front of the supercharger and spin the blades on the SC fan are those supposed to be able to spin left and right freely or does the clutch prevent it from spinning in one direction if the clutch is good?
