    After not hearing anything for months about how Tiger was doing. I was so happy when I heard that he was playing in this event again. Boy did he exceed my expectations! Hitting that well on one leg reminded me of the Open against Rocco! You do realize that Tiger on one leg and his 12 year old almost won this tournament! Even now I'd rather watch Tiger than any other golfer in the world....

      I had a big bet when tiger beat Rocco on one leg in the 2008 US Open. I will always remember it. I lived every shot with him as it happened and at the time I said it was the greatest sporting achievement of all time. That was until the 2019 masters when he won that and out done himself. Now we await the next tiger miracle knowing never to doubt this man because he’s proven so many times before that he can always come back from anything

    Over the last 4 years I have had the same back operations as Tiger. Microdisectomies and fusion of L5-S1. Even at 34 years old and in pretty good shape those surgeries still take a toll on me everyday. Golf has brought me back to the world, and Tiger was my inspiration. So for him to have to live with that pain (plus the most recent accident) and be competing with his son, Has re-inspired me as a golfer and father, all over again. I know it sounds cheesy but from the bottom of my heart. Thanks Tiger! You showed me the way through.

      @@sirmi9868 10 months ago, he almost lost his leg. He wouldn't have played this event this year if it wasn't for Charlie really wanting to. He's out there ripping his drives and wincing in pain at his leg. In the full broadcast, they would show him sometimes practically limping off a green at a snail's pace. He is giving his full effort on every shot, even if Charlie had already hit a good one - he's trying his hardest to win out there with his son. The man looks tired in interviews, yet never complains once. The behaviors he is modeling for his son are all examples of fatherhood. He is teaching Charlie to be a competitor, a warrior, a man. Charlie isn't stupid, he sees the effort his dad is putting into this event and the memories of these father son events will be with him forever. To say he doesn't display an ounce of fatherhood just because he isn't all lovey dovey and coddling his son after every shot (and no doubt he does give this kind of love to his kids, but in private) is such a shortsighted view on fatherhood... I'm not even a father and I can see that.

  • @spartanical
    @spartanical Před 2 lety +82

    it's kind of scary what a 12 year old can actually do. he has many many shots under his control. he shapes at will and controls his trajectory. Tiger and his dad developed Tiger's game and created new shots without a template and exceeded what came before. Charlie got a copy of the test from the teacher's briefcase. His head start is almost unfair to all other 12 year olds right now with PGA dreams. He's starting out with all the secrets. With the inherited intellect and feel I'm sure he has, imagine what he will be able to develop along the way. If we could see into the future, we might not even recognize the game of golf as he plays it 10 or 15 years from now.
    I can't wait to see what he's capable of.

    • @LJimmy08
      @LJimmy08 Před 2 lety +3

      I would love to see that also but to be real, not sure if Charlie will want to. Tiger said in his interviews that Charlie just really started being interested in the game the last couple of years. He really wasn’t interested in it and Tiger said he didn’t want to push him into golf. He just wanted to be a dad and enjoy time with him. IF Charlie doesn’t lose interest, everything you said may come true. It’ll be good to see. Charlie’s grandpa understood the game …but his dad, that’s the GOAT right there. At the end of the day, he’s still a kid and I hope he doesn’t feel pressured to follow his dad’s footsteps but more so that he enjoys the game just as much.

    • @spartanical
      @spartanical Před 2 lety +4

      @@LJimmy08 I agree with what you're saying. I also hope he never feels pressure to pursue something he doesn't want to. But I have to say that I find it very hard to believe he can be as good as he already is if he doesn't have a strong desire to excel at it. No matter how much talent you have, golf is not a game that will be mastered with only casual attention. Charlie, to me, has already been very dedicated to practice and contemplation of the game in order for him to perform how he did. He is obviously already gaining a high mental control to keep it all together on TV, playing with his dad, with all eye on him.
      But I guess we'll know after some college level golf. That will be his first taste of what commitment it takes to play at the PGA Tour level.

    • @johnarnold893
      @johnarnold893 Před 2 lety +2

      Golf at the professional level is athletes at the very top of physical fitness level. Just look at how far Bryson and some of the players can drive now. Dechambeau is taking shortcuts across the lakes that nobody could do in past years. 400 plus yards in the air, crazy.

    • @d33763
      @d33763 Před 10 měsíci +1

      You also factor in the reality that the game of golf is much more exclusive; for every one kid that aspires to be in the PGA, there are hundreds if not thousands wanting to be in NBA/NFL/Champions League, etc. Because a local hoop or a soccer ball is much more accessible. Just having access to a golf course or being able to pay for a day at the range is a luxury to many. Charlie is definitely given a huge advantage due to relatively less competition and much higher barrier of entry.

    Tiger's surprised me with how he's recovered - to this extent with his golf swing movement. And walking the 18 holes, etc. For being so banged up. I really thought golf even at this level was finished.

    I am convinced that Charlie Woods is a clone of Tiger. He plays identical to his dad, has the same mannerisms, and he has the exact same swing as his dad. It may be a conspiracy theory but it is a pretty convincing one at that.

    So cool to watch Charlie doing simple things like picking up the ball and marker for his dad so he doesn't have to bend over every time rather than just going to get his ball out of the cup
