  • Here's a Maschine jam inspired by the great weather we're having right now in my neck of the woods. I'm looking forward to sunny days on the water and in the forest. What excites you about sunny days?
    This song is available on my new album Lost Radio Waves makersky.bandc... or wherever you consume music.
    I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about my gear or workflow.
    Go outside if you can. Peace and love.

    I have a Jam, and was thinking of trading it in for a Push 2 - but looking at the Jam and the Mk 3 working together in this video, I've changed my mind. It makes sense to hang on to it, and get a Mk 3, as an alternative to a Push 2. Great performance.

      That makes sense. The possibilities really open up once you create your own workflow and spend time with it. Thank you.

    Jam a most under rated and almost forgotten addition ,but i use it all the time both in Maschine and Ableton .

      Totally agree! It's all about workflow and how YOU use it. No two producers typically use gear the exact same way.

    When u make a new beat
    If u use the “auto grow patterns”
    Doe sit works well with the jam ? I mean if u close a 3 bars loop , does it work well ? Loops 3 bars ?
    Works like ableton clip recording ?

    is it possible to play the 64 pads like a keyboard and hold down the delete button and a note to clear it or do you have to clear individual notes in a step sequencer?

      It's really handy if you need fast pattern switching. It will work just fine without the license. I would pick it up given how hard they are to find nowadays if you're really interested.

    Are you using a usb hub here with power adapter to turn on the maschine jam?

    • @maker-sky
      @maker-sky  Před 2 lety

      Both Maschine and Jam are connected to my Mac with individual USB cables. Nowadays with Maschine+ you can plug your Jam directly into the Maschine via USB though.

  • @joestacey2114
    @joestacey2114 Před 4 lety

    This is really chill. Would you recommend a jam if I already have a mk3? Does it really improve the work flow?

    • @maker-sky
      @maker-sky  Před 4 lety +4

      Thank you. It really depends on how you plan to use it. If you're jamming new ideas and performing live using the Maschine as your primary sequencer and sampler, it's very useful. It allows you to quickly perform functions on the Maschine that typically require a lot of finger gymnastics. That always took me out of the creative flow when I simply wanted to change patterns or do some modulation on the fly. Now if you're just producing within a DAW, the Jam isn't necessary in my opinion.

    • @joestacey2114
      @joestacey2114 Před 4 lety

      Maker Sky think i might have to get one. Might get a kk m32 or a 49 keyboard as well.

    Are you basically using the jam to trigger scenes? Similarly to an APC?

    • @maker-sky
      @maker-sky  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes, and toggle different patterns, which gives easier control over the arrangements in a live situation. In addition, I'm using it for some effects modulation.

    I see Jam is still quite relevant. Does it still receive updates like the MKIII?

    • @maker-sky
      @maker-sky  Před 4 lety +3

      No, not as a standalone. It hasn't received one from my knowledge. The Jam is best used as an extension to the MKIII that opens up some additional performance functionality. Most notably the ability to easily select patterns and access modulation controls. The MKIII does all of the heavy lifting.

    • @maker-sky

      Hello, thanks for the compliment. The best advice I can give is to just start wherever you are and have fun. You'll quickly come up to speed and develop your own style over time. The Maschine is an instrument in its own right so you'll have your own personalized style. I recommend the Native Instruments tutorials they have on CZcams and their Website. That'll be a great launching point for you. Best of luck and enjoy the process.
