Note well: Moral pluralism claims that there are often different moral systems that can be justified. However, it does not claim that ALL moral systems are justifiable. That would be extreme moral relativism. Different cultures and moral systems do not necessarily mean better or worse. Morality is then seen not as true, eternal and universal, but more or less a variable expedient as related to the flourishing of humans. This perspective limits us from both ethnocentrism and tolerating dreadful moral systems. Not any morality or any values will suffice, they must be defensible by evidence, reason, and open discussion, and they must remain open to public debate.
