    Agree that checking your final bill is a big one. I would add to check your charges daily and if there are any issues get them taken care of at that time. That way you don’t have to do it on your last night or debarkation morning where there will be long lines at guest services.

    The last one was huge. One that I've seen several times is when you prepay your gratuities, they'll try to add it on to your bill again. ALWAYS check your bill

    Re luggage: the one time my luggage didn’t show up until the evening was the same evening the stage magician called me on stage as his “assistant”🤦‍♀️. I was wearing the same wrinkled outfit I’d had on since early that morning. Consequently I learned to at least have a change of top in my carry on bag because you can’t always rely on your luggage arriving in the afternoon.

    Never trust that your baggage tag will stay attached to your bag. Put a copy in the bag and even write your stateroom number on a piece of masking tape on the outside - not the handle.

      @brantthompson199 Před 23 dny +2

      Good point. Also, invest in some of the clear, heavier duty tag sleeves with the braided cable. We got those a couple of years ago and feel a lot better about the tags vs just stapling the paper tag on the bag.

    Don't assume that your bed will be comfortable. Try it out when you get into your cabin, and ask for a mattress topper if it is uncomfortable. We had a horrible first night's sleep due to the mattress. The mattress topper was amazing for the remainder of the cruise.

    • @brownb41
      @brownb41 Před 24 dny

      I didn't even think to ask for one. I did not sleep well for 4 nights in a row until I decided to stack extra towels under my hip and lower back area. My sister thought her bed was comfy.

    You mentioned you were recently on Liberty of the Seas; I was on that ship last year for Memorial Day, and here's one that I picked up pretty quickly: if you have a large party and you wanna eat at the Windjammer, don't assume there'll be room. At 12:00 noon on any given sea day, you can expect every single passenger aboard to be at or approaching the Windjammer since it's included in your fare and the variety is usually pretty good.
    This goes double for larger people; a lot of the chairs have arms that'll squeeze the life out of you, and there's only so many armless chairs.

    Every single Royal Caribbean cruise we've ever taken, we've found our luggage in the hallway halfway down the ship from our room. We've never had our luggage delivered to us before sailaway. We now go up and down the hall now when we can get into the stateroom to find our bags.

    • @jenniferallred9367

    Even though it is in our profile for RCC, that our beds need to be split, they rarely are. We always have to let our steward know one bed needs to be two. My sister and I pretty much are surprised if they get it correct the first time.

    Shore Excursions. Paid for what I thought was 4 people in 1 cabana for a beach day on a Caribbean island. Come to find out I had paid for 4 separate cabanas. RCCL refunded me the 3 in onboard credit to use over the course of the cruise.

    😂 I learned my lesson on the weather reports! I also learned on a land based trip to Paris. We went in the spring I looked at the weather forecasts and the average temps and record temps. I nearly froze to death! I it was winter weather but I had only light jackets. The other thing I’m grateful I knew before hand was to pack the things I wanted that day in my carry on. I had never had a problem with my luggage on any cruise until we went to Alaska last year. I kept thinking it would probably be there before dinner. By 10 pm, I was getting a little nervous. We were on the NCL Bliss. The cruise before was also on the Bliss. Somehow, I had put a luggage tag from the cruise before on my bag. So it was sitting one deck higher in a hallway all by itself. Totally my fault, but I learned there are lots of things that can happen. 😅

    A problem I've had this year is getting my son's account separated from ours. He always has his own credit card in his check in but for some reason they still assign his charges to mine. This only has happened this year. I've gotten in the habit of checking after we get our first drink to see where it shows up and getting Customer Service to correct the account when it's not separate. Going on our first Celebrity cruise in a couple weeks and I'll be watching this there as well.

    I have sympathy for people when an airline, hotel, and/or cruise line etc. has lost their luggage. But I do NOT have sympathy for people who have compounded the issue themselves by packing their prescription medication in that luggage. It amazes me how many people still do this.

    • @tammystreasures8766
      @tammystreasures8766 Před 23 dny

      We are better at just forgetting one of the medications. On our trip to Rome I had packed two bottles of my cholesterol med and zero bottles of my blood pressure med. Fortunately, in some European countries, pharmacists have the ability to prescribe. I went to the pharmacy, explained what I had done. The pharmacist was able to give me enough to last my trip (3 weeks). It was actually very affordable too. My husband has forgotten his meds on business trips and I’ve had to FedEx him his pills. Don’t be like us!! Double or triple check your medications.

    Why don't cruise lines allow you to take your large piece of luggage to your room?

    • @ModernMyths
      @ModernMyths Před 23 dny +2

      Well, they do. I've seen a few people on each cruise I've been on actually do that. The problem about that is that the rooms are not ready right away when you get on them. The staff are still cleaning them. So until then, you are kind of forced to carry all your luggage all around the ship until the rooms are finally ready for everyone. And if you are cruising with a family. That's multiple luggage being dragged all throughout the ship for multiple hours until all the rooms are ready.

    • @tammystreasures8766
      @tammystreasures8766 Před 23 dny

      The other alternative is to board just before the all aboard time. That way your room will be ready. I, however, don’t suggest this. I would much rather the cruise line handle my luggage and I can get my vacation started much earlier.
