How frustrating it is to see that your strongest and smartest attacks are "almost always" defended by the Japanese. Just unbelievable floor defense! Salute to the Japanese Team!

@@xandercoloso8281 I agree. It seemed like the combo of Larson/Robinson was working well. Also I don't think MBH played with Poulter in a match yet. The combos have been Larson/Robinson with Poulter and BH/Hill with Carlini unless Im forgetting something, just based on the match highlights I've seen. It didn't look like Poulter and MBH were connecting much at all.

Well, if they were taller, their floor defense wouldn’t be as great. It is their floor defense that keeps them in the game.
@@cointrader2705 Defence starts with the block. And I am not impressed with their block. Japan has a good recovery in the back line, but that gives them a chance at attacking, which again is not the strong point.

Ishikawa is 19 year old, 172 cm, very young and very small player, but she has became the strongest spiker for Japan. She is strong, fast, calm, hit the ball with power and lots of varieties. She is also very good and defense, good at effective blocking. Gabi and Ishikawa are two best small OH now in the world.
It is incredible that she can score over the US blockers who are 20cm taller. Amazing.
@@darkside8230 ishii couldn't? Ishikawa made a great debut here but Ishii is Japan's top scorer from VNL upto this world cup. If you watched all of their matches, she carried the team together with Shinnabe.
It’s nice to see Miyashita setting again for Japan’s team. I love that mysterious and deceiving eyes of her. 😍

Ishikawa mayu will grow big as national player, just like her brother now is an all rounder player. Ishikawa yuki also played as libero when he in the italian league

Although Mayu is not tall, her spikes are really powerful and crucial for Team Japan to win a point.

Japan will definitely drain your energy with that close to perfection defense. Imagine its like you are playing with 6 liberos inside. Magnificent!

@@cartoongamess1 I am always reluctant to say "the best" about any player position. I don't think it's possible at the top level to pick one over another. Kobata, Leia of Brazil, Martinez of the DR, and a libero who isn't at this tournament, the libero for Hungary.
Other top ones are Akoz of Turkey, Popovic of Serbia A team, Korea's libero Kim Haeran.
jesus, no wonder US lost the China the day after. this was an physical, psychological thriller. I'm worn out just watching.

I think Korea is getting so much stronger now, LeeJaeYeong surprises me most as she’s so good as an all-around player like Kim! She’s not tall as other outside hitters but her strength and skill could totally overcome the disadvantage, I hope Mayu Ishikawa could grow more like Lee Jae Yeong, showing the world that great players not necessarily to be super tall! 👍🏻

When China had so much difficulty to beat Brazil (3-2) I thought USA was a better team since USA beat them 3-0 but now USA has more difficulty defeating JPN (3-2) than China (3-0). In conclusion, China vs USA is indeed an unpredictable match and probably the most anticipated one in this World Cup.

I see where you are coming from, but if you notice, china used its top players both times and in this match you are definitely not getting the same match up you will get in the china game; usa is being strategic.
AJolly Panda yes I see your point. I don’t see Larson in this video so I don’t think she played at all(?). USA’s players are in better shape for the CHNvUSA game so I have a feeling USA is going to win. Either way it still is going to be the most important match of this World Cup

@@personalrome in 2018 she got injured, but in the recent japanese v league, she was playing with her club, hisamitsu. So she is fine now.

@@personalrome Japan is automatically qualified (they're the host). Nagaoka wasn't in the official line up but since olympics is postponed, anything can happen. She does fill that missing opposite side.
To push the number 1 team in the world in set no. 5 is just magnificent! Japan is really prepairing for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games :)

@David Bovo well, where are they now? They only automatically got included in the Olympic line up because of their 2018 win but VNL and FIVB this time around is being dominated by USA and China. USA is particularly strong now with new faces.
@David Bovo even the strong teama of USA and China send their A teams every once in a while during VNL. It just shows that Serbia is not on its peak as of now.

DINO REX Osanai, Ishikawa, Yamada were selected in the 29 members of player who will play for Olympic this year but the players gonna be selected again from 29 into only 12. There are 7 new great players who were selected for the first time like Kotona Hayashi(OH 173cm), Tamaki Matsui(S 170cm), Mayu Oikawa(MB 175cm), Rei Kudou(OH 175cm), Rena Mizusugi(L 165cm), Haruna Soga(OH 173cm), and Nichika Yamada(MB 184cm) as well.

I really love it when Japanese players are playing volleyball. Even they are down they are not the type of players or persons who easily give up. They are really eager to win. I love their floor defense.

It was a great game between these two nations. I was not expecting a 5 set game specially japan is against USA. USA starting line up with hackley is not really the strongest they have. I think if usa put larson in the beginning it would be a different result for them. It was a good move for Americans to replace drews as she was inconsistent from scoring. Lowe really delivered. As for kim hill she is not that lethal anymore as she used to. Maybe some younger players can replace her specially in olympics. For ishikawa i think she just secure her spot to the seniors line up and possibly not coming back to u21 line up anymore. I hope she will replace either nabeya or uchiseto soon from the seniors pool. The game was really fun to watch specially that 4th set comeback of japan was gold. The whole story of the game was physicality of US>skills of japan. Almost similar why they lost against the russians.
