I know I commented on a comment. But if your installing a high lift cam you may only want to 1/4-1/2 turn after the rockers stop clattering!👍👍

Have a great time at power tour! Setting a goal is a great way to make progress, but it's no failure to fall short. You've got it running and you still get to enjoy power tour. The C-10 will have it's day!

And as always prime the oil pump first !

Many ways to skin a cat 🐈. I've always snugged them up. Install the oil clips to keep the oil in the engine. Start it up and loosen till it ticks and snug up slowly till the tick stops and tighten 1/4 turn at a time until 3/4 turn and you should be good. 👍

I am in total agreement here! This is how I have always done it. Hasn’t failed me so far!👍👍👍

Also Rick, Instead of using the engine to prime, take the distributor out and use a drill and socket to prime the engine with oil. Less ware on the starter!!👍👍

Well, to do what I was saying you have to have a piece in the distributor hole to stop the oil from going everywhere!!

Yeah I used to have one of those little pieces that went down in there to turn that oil pump and I couldn't find it that's why I was cranking it over by the starter
