It's the clutch. Expanding and flexing at high rpm not decompressing and letting you shift. It kinda pushes the peddle back at you. Put a mantic. The high rpm lock out is over. Not the shift forks are weak also.

  • @sydliz1126

Ford has come out and said its that inner blue area of the flywheel that causes issues. I was told to replace the clutch, flywheel and it will solve 90% of potential issues. Also, throwing a MGW shifter and 1 piece driveshaft will help too. The stock shifter is decent though. I think its a barton?

Instead of changing transmissions, Ford doubled down and denied they had problems, denied people's claims, and overall didn't support their customers. I can't believe they didn't go back to Tremec. They ruined an otherwise great car.

I didn't get lock out but I am still low miles though.. I did the Steeda Stock shifter Bracket and the Trans insert.. I have a lot of NVH now.. I am going to pull the trans insert and see if the noise calms down along with the cabin vibration too.. I hope it does.. People are telling me it's the insert that is causing the most NVH and not the Steeda Bracket. I am under 11,000 and the stock shifter wasn't that bad even with the stock bracket.. I can see how over time the rubber gets worse and shifts get more sloppy.. But I am going to pull that trans insert out and see how I like it like that.. I already have syncro II ready to go.. I will be putting fresh syncro II in when I do the next oil change.. Also I noticed that it takes the MT82 a while to warm up.. Like a half Hr. into driving and the trans and sycro's seem to smooth out..

I see many comments stating that people who opt for swapping the Getrag MT82 for a TR6060 OR TREMEC XL MAGNUM are unable to drive manuals. I have one question, what transmission is found in the 2010-2014 GT500s and the 2016-2020 GT350s?

    • @isnowyazn
      @isnowyazn Před 9 měsíci +1

It’s not that, I have a Tremec TR-6060 in my 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS. Even their stock factory builds aren’t perfect either. 5th gen (10-15) manual Camaro’s and similar like the 08-10 C6 base manual Corvette, and 08-09 Cadillac CTS-V, are plagued, with stock gearbox, clutch, and master cylinder issues.
The Camaro shares a master cylinder with the brakes and clutch together…. The brake fluid boils in the brakes, and the clutch material from the slave cylinder design also contaminates the brakes too, as does the brake contamination in and of itself to the clutch. The overheating brake fluid if keeping the shared fluid reservoir, causes the clutch pedal to lose hydraulic pressure and not return to the top fully; causing further issues like a dragging clutch or grinding gears.
Aside from that, earlier 2009-2010, and even some rumored 2011 Camaro SS’ have the crappy PAPER-lined synchronizer rings, which tended to fail when driven hard, let alone TRACK driven… I’ve so far also had clutch chatter on inclines, which doesn’t affect performance too much besides noise and such. Gear changes are good because I’ve flushed the trans and rear diff. I run the proper gear oil/ATF that is spec’d above standard for my trans. I also plan to change the trans fluid/gear oil every avg oil change, which for me, is around 9-10k miles.
Even in my older Honda/Acura MT’s with lighter clutches and flywheels, but semi-durable gearboxes/trannies, I always changed my gear oil (no ATF for these) with every other oil change (5-8k) and felt that this was very worth it. Early, preventative maintenance might be costly, but you are already driving an average $25-30k+ priced car, so….. If you can’t maintain the car, don’t beat on it or you’ll regret it….

I bought a warranty online through Endurance a month after I got my 2012 Boss 302. Ive had the car for almost 3 months now and I took it in 2 weeks ago because I was having issues with the gears. My fifth gear was grinding every single time unless the RPMs were perfectly aligned and i was getting locked out of 2nd at high RPMs. I put about 2000 miles on it since I've owned it. Turns out I need a new transmission and a new clutch. I got the Spec stage 2 and aluminum flywheel myself and had to wait for my warranty company. They denied my claim and I got stuck with about a $5k repair bill. I originally thought I couldn't get approved for a warranty through Ford because there was a blacklist and wouldn't warrant the Boss 302 but I just found out that isn't the case. I get my car back in about a week and have to deal with the cost. But I want to know what your thoughts are and what you are doing

Manual over auto is not a deal-breaker. It's not an issue that is going to cause you frustration. The only situation I can think of where it would annoy the crap out of you is if you are a drag racer.
The high RPM lockout exists, but it's not all the time. Whenever it does happen, it's more like, oh that was weird, let's try again.
I was told my car comes with a stage 2 (assuming twin) clutch and that could be solving most of the issues related to the lockout. I plan on going MGW soon, which I hear also helps eliminate most of the high RPM lockout. but the way it is now is not infuriating in any way.
I also have the BG synchro shift 2 transmission fluid with the special additive. It works wonders and it makes shifting feel so much smoother. I don't think it does anything for the high RPM lockout, but it does feel pretty smooth the first few miles. You totally notice an improvement.
In summary, a twin-clutch and MGW shifter will make it so over 90% of your pulls have no high rpm lockouts. The BG Synchroshift II Transmission fluid makes it so that normal everyday shifting is a LOT smoother.
Finally, if you have the money, just put a Tremec magnum transmission in there to solve the shifting issues 100%.

First, why not get the Continental Extreme Contact Sport?- basically its the new generation DWs and is touted as being significantly better in all aspects and equal to Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
Second- mgw race spec or nothing. MGW even offers a discount if you trade your first gen MGW. MGW race spec is the only fully trans mounted shifter. They also have great customer service.
3rd- the rear x brace hasn’t been shown to increase rigidity in a practical manner. So, that’s not really a loss.
4th- use the Calimer Cocktail for fluid. It works very well. 2 quarts synchromesh and .7 Manual trans lube GL-4. There’s no been any issues with this oil setup.
5th- don’t forget about your diff. That car is old enough it’s time to change it.

Sean McGuigan if for use in winter why not get winter tires? Did you know that all seasons lose most of their capabilities below freezing? Even if there’s no snow, winter compound tires have significant grip advantages when the pavement is cold, even without snow/ice. Michelin Xi3 tires are the best winter tire with the Bridgestone Blizzak being best if you have to drive in deep snow. They also have “Performance winter tires” such as the Pirelli Sottozero that have high ratings. Snow tire reviews on RWD cars aren’t easy to find. I did a lot of searching last year and this is what I’ve found. The only time all seasons are acceptable for winter is if they are “snow” rated and have the snow flake on the tire OR you have a 4x4/AWD, although that doesn’t help you stop.
If I were you, I’d do like a lot of us do in Michigan, get a set of winter tires on steel wheels. Ford recommends stock width on the Boss with winter tires but data has shown narrower width in winter yields significant grip in snow over wider tires.
      Good luck.

Math is math, if you spent money on parts, then it wasn't free... So I call BS on "free." The cherry on top of this video is that Ford dealerships will not replace anything with aftermarket parts, period. So your "rebuild" was not done by a Ford dealer. Maybe if losers brought all switching the automatic sport but take the risk and buying expensive quality transmission and put in there if more people like manuals

I know this is old but high rpm lockout is always the clutch.
Also, why do you need to change the tune if it’s cold? People, fords ecu logic will adjust
    Also Pirellis are hot garbage

Your MT82 Getrag 6 speed has notchy gear changes because the synthetic oil that Ford uses is too good, hence the synchro's are slipping and not engaging. Just add 40cc's of Lubeguard Friction Modifier to the oil... www.lubegard.com/products/lss/

SORRY FOLKS its not the transmission,m its the shifter being mounted to the body instead of directly to the trans like with the blowfish bracket or an mgw race spec shifter, thats the ONLY thing thats going to cure the high rpm lock out 100% theres nothing wrong with the MT82 its the shifter! you can use the stock shifter with a blowfish bracket and never get locked out of gear at any rpm!!

Sorry man, I'm brand new to mustangs, I just bought my 19 GT last Saturday and tbh I'm new to muscle cars in general. Where can I buy this bracket or does it have to be custom fabricated??

The MT82 still has better ratios and will beat a TR6060 car all other things being equal.

why would anyone buy a mt82 when there is the 10 speed. The new automatic transmission is faster, greener, and better in traffic
