The Czech Republic’s Prochazka is set to collide with Brazilian knockout artist Alex Pereira for the vacant light heavyweight strap.
Alex Pereira will look to become a two-division UFC champion when he faces Jiri Prochazka for the light heavyweight title at UFC 295 this Saturday. 'Poatan' is preparing for his upcoming bout by training in the woods.

This is what people should debate;
Jiri have 5.4 strikes absorbed per minute in the UFC while Pereira sits on 3.7 (Pereira have 8.41 strikes absorbed per minute in Glory kickboxing). Both men get hit "a lot".
What people should be talking about imo are Prochazka's wide stance and low hands which can and probably will work against him versus Pereira's leg kicks and heavy left hooks.
On the other side the punch Pereira struggles to block is a straight right, which so happen to be Prochazka's best punch. What's more is that Prochazka has fought a lot of kickboxers, whilst Pereira haven't fought anyone (to my knowledge. I'm lacking in Glory kickboxing knowledge) like Jiri.
I'm giving Poatan the advantage as he's got fewer tapes to study and his training partner did fough a five round war with Prochazka. But in the end I think Prochazka will be too much for Pereira and get the finish within two.

Jiri has never fought anyone on the striking level of Pereira, and he's been nearly finished in each of his 3 UFC fights by KO. Add to that he's been out for 1.5 years and is coming back from 'the worst shoulder injury in UFC history'. I doubt he should be favored.

Poatan is much more popular and people are biased (I like it too); But analyzing his fights, Jiri has greater adaptability and creativity to deal with Pereira's one-dimensional style. Wouldn't be surprised if those people only speak one language. For most of the world, Pereira is easy to pronounce. Here in New Zealand, the Maori language also uses the same vowel sounds as Spanish/Japanese. For a lot of people who aren't caught up in their culture alone, it's easy to learn. I like Pereira's style, so fun to watch and super dangerous. With that said, Jiri wins in a devastating way, whether it is in the 1st or 5th, Jiri will finish Alex. Kinda sad about this matchup actually, I dont want either guy to lose, but thats the game

I think jiri knocks Pereira out with powerful shots in a legendary fight. He should look to mix it up on the ground as well. And use some unorthodox strikes from different angles and set trapz. His ground and pound is strong

My two favorite fighters, i will not be happy with the result
I've got Jiri by sub after round 3, I like Alex a lot but to say he's received some favorable matchmaking up to this point would be an understatement. He's fought 1 grappler in the UFC and hasn't faced anyone nearly as well-rounded as Jiri. It wouldn't shock me to see Jiri clipped hard and put away, but I'm leaning towards a Jiri sub after round 3. Him hanging with Glover on the ground for 5 rounds was really impressive. Alex's Jiu Jitsu is still super weak. Don't want to see either of them lose but it is what it is at Light Heavyweight.
Jiri is pretty well rounded as you would say but Alex has fought guys that are good everywhere, I think the pace jiri will put will be the biggest problem. Not his skills. Power I’ll give jiri the edge, simply because Jiri throws to kill

I think this is a TUF style matchup for Jiri. He’s so much fun but he’s fairly hittable for the quality of fighter he is, and Pereira really isn’t. Neither of these guys really offer a lot in terms of an offensive wrestling/grappling game either so I see this as being a mostly standup fight.
Guy subbed the grappler who teaches Pereira buddy. But it will be a stand up fight because Jiri will go for the kill even though there are better strategies for winning.

I don't see how Jiri wins this, he's gonna try to out strike a world class Kickboxer ? Pereira is one of the best strikers in the world. He's been active, in training camps and fighting in the past year while Jiri was recovering. Jiri has a weird style that can cause trouble to some, but Pereira is a different beast, and he has a full training camp to prepare for that weirdness. Pereira also showed alot of improvements in the grappling game in his last fight, and he probably improved even more since. Also, Jiri got hurt on the feet a few times by Glover who is a BJJ specialist. Maybe there's something I'm missing, but how on earth does Jiri have a chance ?
Jiri is a much better mma fighter, kickboxing and mma are not the same thing. Alex was fast tracked to face Izzy remember.
So now at 205 vs a real mma fighter Alex's old problems and some new ones are gunna show. Alex is much ezier to hit then Jiri is, you just havnt seen that because he always has a size advantage.

Pereira doesnt have real experience in MMA in 205 pounds, despite an split decision. Jiri has 25 Kos in 205 with 30 years. Yes, he comes from an injury, but he is much younger (5 or 6 years), has much more tools and has much more experience.

That's a different thing, cutting so much weight effects his chin for sure, we saw it in the jan fight, he was able to eat some clean polish power
