Lyrics:
Hello, Earth.
Hello, Earth.
With just one hand held up high
I can blot you out,
Out of sight.
Peek-a-boo,
Peek-a-boo, little Earth.
With just my heart and my mind
I can be driving,
Driving home,
And you asleep
On the seat.
I get out of my car,
Step into the night
And look up at the sky.
And there's something bright,
Travelling fast.
Look at it go!
Look at it go!
Hello, Earth.
Hello, Earth.
Watching storms
Start to form
Over America.
Can't do anything.
Just watch them swing
With the wind
Out to sea.
All you sailors,
("Get out of the waves! Get out of the water!")
All life-savers,
("Get out of the waves! Get out of the water!")
All you cruisers,
("Get out of the waves! Get out of the water!")
All you fishermen,
Head for home.
Go to sleep, little Earth.
I was there at the birth,
Out of the cloudburst,
The head of the tempest.
Murderer!
Murderer of calm.
Why did I go?
Why did I go?
*"Tiefer, tiefer.
Irgendwo in der Tiefe
Gibt es ein licht."*
Go to sleep little Earth.
*"Deeper, deeper, somewhere in the deep there is a light" - Hudba
Im 59. I played Kate Bush for my son and daughter when they were babies. They are now 22 and 20. When Kate skyrocketed after Stranger Things they both texted me that the world had finally caught up…I felt very proud of that.
Kate is a legend. I’m 31 now but I’ve been listening to her for about 14 years. Nice to see she’s getting even more recognition now
Yes.
That’s so wonderful to hear! I can’t wait to start playing her for the little ones in my life. I’ve only been listening to her since June but she’s completely changed my life
Beautiful .
she has had a very deep place in my heart since 1978 when i first saw her at the ag of 8 years old i fell in love with her then and will always love her she is a special old soul.
Kate's voice is just extraordinarily beautiful. The part from "All you sailors" until "Why did I go?" is something I could listen to 100 times a day and it would still blow me away!
Thanks Andy ....
Exactly, what a transcendent soul!!
It is so rich and beautiful
Written and produced at age 23 or 24... the lyrical depths, the sound colours, the mixing of English pop music with Georgian folk chants in combination with whalesong. A genius she is.
Wrong facts
@@isobeljames1328 considering Kate started on the Hounds Of Love album after the release of The Dreaming it is fair to say early 1983, at the latest early 1984. But I have to guess whether you are hinting at the fact I wrote about her age. If not, enlighten me with a more substantial reply than " wrong facts".
1:45 Most incredibly subtle yet creepy key change from F minor to C# minor I've ever heard. Genius
Y. Nice modulation ;-)
Gives me chills. ..
The second time it happens is my favorite. At 5:19.
Absolute genius. She writes what she feels. If it feels right it is right.
@@LesterH25 I've heard the opposite said of Kate Bush. She writes from the mind more than the heart. So many of her songs are stories rather than personal expressions.
the "murderer, murderer of calm" part is the best part of any Kate Bush song. I don't remember getting chills that intense from any other song.
They way the word 'murderer' is sung in this song is so weirdly beautiful!
razrv3lc
great song
razrv3lc I agree chilling and incredibly moving
The violin part played by Nigel Kennedy in Experiment iv comes close for me ...
Dudes.. Kate Bush totally has no bad songs..
"sexual healing" cover was quite excellent though.
And the cover of Candle in the Wind...blew my mind off!!
I agree
Another Day with Peter Gabriel (Roy harper cover) gotta be the best though.
Lame lame .." She totally doesn't"🤣😆😅😅😘
Beautifully assembled video.
"Tsintskaro" is most haunting, and I first heard it in 1979 in the Werner Herzog remake of "Nosferatu, the Vampyr".
sweet jesus, this woman is a genius. 34 years on I still listen to this like its the first time I've heard it
Agreed. And Peter Gabriel. Englands finest
I remember studying this song with my students long ago ! They were absolutely awed... Just as I was, and still am ! One of her best songs, very characteristic of her emotional and mental depth.
I was in high school when this came out and was having some personal struggles and confided in a teacher and she gave me the Kate Bush album, my first introduction to her, been a lifelong fan ever since
Hounds Of love is In my opinion the most sublime Album of the 20th century. She has captured all our hearts within these songs. love You Kate.
First heard this song back in 1985 in a Miami Vice episode titled, "Bushido". Whoever decided to use this wonderful piece in the episode should have been praised. He or she REALLY did their HOMEWORK!! What an incredible song! "Hello Earth" complemented the song terrifically. Moody, atmospheric, beautiful, and incredibly haunting. I will never forget this song. A BIG thanks to Symphonyofflowers for posting this and the video montage along with the song itself is outstanding!
First heard this song in August 2022 in the "Miami Vice" episode "Bushido.
I like very much "Miami Vice". I don't know if I've never seen this episode or if I've forgotten it.
Yes, it was necessary to wait many years to discover an excellent episode and a magnificent song. It was worth it!
Thank you Kate!
My favourite episode of Miami Vice and mostly because of the music
LOL, I just noticed - Miami Vice episode "BUSHido" and Kate BUSH, a remarkable coincidence or just a really bad pun?
Yep Miami Vice brought me here too, my favorite episode.
好美好美的歌~謝謝你Kate Bush~期待你來台灣訪問
The best part is the way she says "tempest" - sublime!
One of the most incredible songs ever written by a human being. Is Kate human? I was lucky enough to hear Hello Earth live at the Hammersmith in 2014 ...
I think I would describe her as "more fully human" perhaps?
QUEEN2 Magic Tribute I was at the concert too. On the long run of dates. Was a magical show
I was there also - thought I'd spoil myself so saw her on two nights :) - Kate gotta be the best female singer of all time - with Freddie being the best male vocalist, in my humble opinion
My husband and I went, and Annie Lenox and daughters were about 5 feet in front of us. The show was magical.
You all prolly dont care at all but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
At 14 I bought it on LP 1985......it's still in my top ten albums of all time.
She is blessed with an enormous gift. This music changes people. It's amazing that I can just listen to something like this.
I'm 16 and found Kate Bush through Stranger Things. I ended up listening to all her songs and she has become my favourite artist of all time. This has to be one of my favourites of hers, it's so majestic. Unlike with other artists, I've never gotten tired of a single song from her. Her music is magical.
Majestic, surreal piece of music from the genius that is Kate. Don't think I'll ever tire of hearing it; just magnificent!
My fave!
Tony Hill i cry at this song something about her voice in this, the tears start flowing.
And I thought loving this was an isolated thing, great to know so many other fans exist who appreciate Bush's art.
What a genious! She is a mesh between the musicality of a Messiaen, for instance, and the revolutionary style of a Nono. She has the talent of any classical composer. Very great.
Such a fantastic song! i remember hearing Hounds Of Love all the way through. And this track came on... after this crazy and colorful album of songs. Comes this dark, atmospheric art-pop masterpiece. A high point of many on the album for sure.
Lifeduringwartime k
Absolutely loved the song, she masterly combined an old Georgian folk song with her lyrics and made something truly majestic ♡
Thank you ia 💓
Hamlett Gonashvili - Tsintskaro
I cry my eyes out ,this really has an effect because I was under water for 5 minutes and every once and a while I have to relive the moment to remember my priority,to be a overprotective father ,you can never be to over protective, until your kid is big enough strong enough to navigate ,the streets, the woods ,the water, you are not done.
Her voice is beautiful as ever and the Welsh male choir just stunning! I cry every time xxxx
It's actually a Georgian Choir
@@amyvillanueva3442 ......and as stated on the album credits, a Georgian choir that goes by the name of "The Richard Hickox Singers"
@@warrenbridges1891 no, lol, they must have got it wrong, it's sung by the gerogian ensemble not american one, I've grown up on that version of the song, trust me when I say this
@@salvatorecontec7232 Who the fuck said anything about American? The original piece of music could have been sung by a Georgian ensemble, but Kate had permission to reproduce it with a Welsh choir. Again, on the album cover, which I have in front of me right now, it clearly states that The Richard Hickox Singers were recorded. She could have chosen a bunch of southeast Asians to do it if she thought they were capable.
@@warrenbridges1891 georgian is my native language for fucks sake, when I say I grew up listening to this version of this song , I mean it, ( if your native language had been french and some american not fluently spoken in french were to sing the song you're familiar with, you'd know the difference for gods sake) the lead singer is the most famous folk-singer in Georgia and his voice is trademark in tradional-folklore, it's him singing it with the ensemble, they could say japanese band is perfoming the song and it still wouldn't change the fact that it is not in fact, no matter what it says on your cd lol
Outstanding piece of music/art.
As if she is calling out to the humanity from somewhere in the space....with her voice ringing all over in the galaxy....getting all the mortals on the earth teary eyed. I am an atheist but Kate Bush is my ultimate musical goddess :-*
Kate Bush is the only artist I know of that manages to infuse magic into every song of choice and draws better pictures with words and music than everybody else on my iPod! Her voice transcends this world.
Tiefer, tiefer. Irgendwo in der Tiefe gibt es ein Licht.
This brings tears to my eyes. We need to take care of this wonderful planet.
What a talent. Nobody around today to compare to Kate, she is awesome,
1st hearing of this great song it's the mysterious Georgian singing that grabs the most but with many re-listens it is that voice again, the voice of even greater mystery, the voice of much greater gifts, that's our Kate, peerless Kate, the Earth's Kate, the one we could send out to the stars to represent us
I get choked up listening to this - always have. Tiefer, tiefer...
What is it that this genius has that can evoke so many emotions. A true great brit
i love you Kate ive done nothing but listen to you over the past 3 months. i needed you right now. thank you
I once bought an album of Georgian folk music on a whim...it got to one song and I went "Hey! How did part of a Kate song get on here?" :-)))
I had had no idea where that chorus was from!
A favorite among favorites. I love the depth and clarity of her voice. It's truly a beautiful instrument.
And lyrics are transcendent. 🌺
Couldn't agree more.
Tiefer! Tiefer! Irgendwo in der Tiefe gibt es ein Licht!
It's such a beautiful sentiment - looking down at the earth from above. Somewhere in my cellar I've got a tape recording of Kate talking to Radio 1 about the making of the album. She did use the choral pieces from Nosferatu, but wrote "words" that fit the song. She described the song without the choral pieces as having big gaping holes that she had no idea how to fill. It's just so beautiful - a lullaby to the earth, as she put it. Go to sleep, little Earth...
This heartbreaking beauty of sounds confirms the fact that this woman casts spells that bind you to her forever. Kate ... once you listen to her, you will never forget it.
Georgian song "Tsintskharo" makes me cry every time I hear it... love this song too
Favourite female vocalist of all time
Definitely one of the most well-written and impactful songs I have ever heard. "Watching storms start to form over America" - kind of prophetic, is it not??
yes!!!
America is fine ... the storms are fake.
"All you sailors... get out of the water" has given me cold chills every single time I've heard this song... maybe 550 by now. I thought she was singing "oh for a miracle" not "over america"... it works either way.
Just pure class, this women moves me like no women ever has.
Celtic dynamics and piano and strings and bag pipes combined with that beautiful voice is just stunning!
For a song with the ambitious objective of trying to capture the essence of the short blip of life on this "tiny, blue dot", it actually pulls it off so majestically. There are no words that would be hyperbole to describe the talent of Kate Bush-- a true gift
Brendan Fletcher f2f fff
I admire your mastery of the English language ... and your insightful critic ... I am French and I have the same opinion as you toward this artist.
she is not of this earth.magical.
Lars Zepam crawl back under your stone.you misfit.Go and seek some help before you become something evil.
And yet she is of this Earth. Earth inhabits the most beautiful people.
Oh yes she is
This is one of my favorites from Hounds Of Love. It has always amazed me -- the emotion in Kate's voice, her ability to change her tone to convey different emotions. Her voice is so dynamic. I have listened to this album from start to finish so many times. I highly recommend everyone do the same.
Amazing. Not so much a song…..more an experience.
Breathtaking. I almost feel pity for the 24 for if I could not appreciate this I would rather be 6' under.
I so love Tsinkaro, It was also used by Werner Herzog in his re-make of Nosferatu.
Georgian Folk Music :)
Love (The late great) Hamlet Gonashvilli.
Yes! And music from the great German band Popol Vuh.
never heard this one before... Kate Bush is such a talented extra-ordinary artist... i am in awe one more time listening to her music...
“"It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small."-Neil Armstrong
RIP Neil
It’s been eight years since this comment was written, but thank you for this quote.
I do this a capella at dinner parties..my friends love it.
😬
The most Brilliant songwriter.
This song touches my heart. It's so beautiful it makes me cry. I love you Kate. ♥️
Kate Bush is a monumental force.....just like this song...whenever I think I can never sense or feel beauty or peace again I just listen to her works...what an angel..
Always loved this song, Beautiful music from a beautiful Lady xx
The pictures in this video are amazing!
Amazing artistry and amazing music... Kate, we love you
Listen to this song every day.
This is not just the most beautiful music I have ever heard...this is a surreal piece of art that accurately depicts what a dream sounds like.
She makes my heart burst. Why isn't todays music like this, deep like this?
true ...
What a great artist, timeless ...
ALWAYS MESMERIZING !! JUST LOVE HER !! 😍🥰
A Masterpiece!!!
My favourite Kate Bush song, I want to stay in this place💙
I love you Kate.
Possibly the most evocative piece of music I've ever have the privilege to listen to....
The amazing beautiful Kate Bush x
No one can argue with that Dog!
Kate is too moving to me...Each song brings out emotions that exist deep inside. What an amazing artist she was, is and will always be!
Peekaboo little Earth ⭐️
I love the *i get out of my car* bit, its like *running up that hill* but with a sadder tune. LOVE IT.
Full born masterpiece, lives a life on it's own.
Just think the universe is purported to be 13.4 000,000,000 yrs old. Humans are supposed to have been living and dying on Earth for about 66 000,000 yrs, 200,000 in our current anatomically modern form yet we managed to exist at the same time as out Kate. How lucky are we! 😊
Her absolutely best song.
Agreed
Great to know someone else feels this way. Kate is incredible, and has a wide array of incredible songs. But nothing can touch this. The structure of the song is so brilliant... she defies all conventional musical ideas to shape the song in a way that, quite simply, allows it to breathe, and be the masterpiece it is.
I dunno... I can't really compare a lot of her songs that I love, I love them in such different ways.
Surely your opinion of what is absolutely her best song is dependant on what frame of mood you’re in when offering that opinion?
And for me right now it can only be “don’t give up” with Peter Gabriel.
AWESOME !
I think of it as "Goodbye, Earth!"
And the Aurora images are just too perfect !!! .... Those Lights come from Souls that have a half-chance of escaping ....
"Tiefer, tiefer.
Irgendwo in der Tiefe
Gibt es ein Licht."
Deeper, deeper.
Somewhere in the Deep ...
There is a Light.
Love your video! Thanks!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Angela Payne You're welcome! I'm glad that you like it.
I used this song in a video all about anti- nuclear war. This is beautiful ~ the imagery is amazing
How wrong you all are.
beautifully put but perhaps it might be where the souls of the once living come to be close to the earth for a short while a little like those flocks of birds that move as a cohesive oneness but on a spiritual level something all must become at one point in time .
Bravo ,Kate! Excellent!
Bravo Richard Hickox Singers for singing Georgian Song " Tsintskaro"as if you were real Georgians! I am very proud that my native "Tsintskaro" is so organically merged with Kate" song!
Hello symphonyofflowers. Good to hear from you again.I appreciate your videos. It is great to have Miss Kate introduced to a new generation. Hope they do not let the interest end with just 1 song. I was introduced to Kate Bush back in Dec.1979 on Saturday Night Live. Video may still be available on Amazon. She was like no one else I had ever seen or heard before. Her first album was and still is one of my all time favorites. Would loved to have been at Before the Dawn Concert. Her 4 disc set is great. Well back to your videos..🤓
Thank you Kate, for another beautiful song that means so much and is very special.
Beautiful...she is so one with the nature..
Yucky comment. Self entitled...No heart at al...Shut up!
when kate sings "over America", gives me tingles
Im here before max woke up
The best song ever!!! All time!!!
She is just so memorable
Che meraviglia, nn l' avevo mai sentita questa canzone!!!!!!
Grazie sister
Heavenly
My very favorite song by Kate
This song makes me so emoitonal!
Out of this world! What a song... very cinematic. It can only come from a celestial musical Goddess like Kate Bush. This kind of music has the power to evoke so many feelings.
I loved this song the first time heard it back in the 80's....hearing it again in 2011 it is just as amazing and beautiful as the first time I heard it. Kate Bush, what a talent - the lyrics, the music, the creativity - all that is missing from much of today's artists.
thank you, for sharing this wonderful piece of Kate Bush that I was unknown too. I'm a big Fan of her.
this is my fave kate song of all time. its just amazing and I can remember EXACTLY where I was when i first listened to it...
So amazing Hello Earth!
stunningly beautiful . . . . love all the music she makes
I think everybody could benefit from listening to a Kate Bush song?
Kate é a fada da música mundial, suas músicas nos fazem flutuar de tanta beleza!!!!!.
Amazing !!
Wow. thank you for the imagery of this amazing song. There is a spiritual quality of the questioning--"why did I go?"
the singer being in a space suit looking down at the storms over America ...go to sleep little earth.............
another cinematic song by Ms. Bush...
Zinskaro implemented into Kate Bush... 2 worlds collide into something beautiful that haunts me back to 80's
Kates music makes me feel real!
