    I am a second year English Major too and I really need this kind of tips specially I kind of suck on oral recit. I always had trouble organizing my thoughts in my mind before I say it. Hoping to speak confidently and naturally just like you before I graduate..

    • @novabeldad6108
      @novabeldad6108 Před rokem +2

      Hi, Ronahlayne! You're felt. I am an AB Literature freshman. English is not my second language, because my mother tongue is Bisaya. Thus, I am more affluent in Tagalog and Bisaya (Visayan). Oftentimes, I also feel as though my thoughts are tangled whenever I try to speak during oral recits. It sucks because it rendered me insecure and somehow made me feel dumb. But honestly, we are allowed to make mistakes. We are in school to learn and not to be perfect ❤️.
      I hope you already have the hang of it and are already confident in speaking English. As for me, I will continue to practice ❤️.
      Lots of love,
      Nova.

    Thank you for this! I am currently intimidated to speak the English language and I’m so worried because I need it in my job right now. I’ve been practicing conversations in my head but then when the actual time we have to converse comes, I always stutter and I feel like shutting down. Thank you for reminding that it is just a tool and that I don’t need to be scared by the language. That perspective is new to me. Praying I’ll get confident enough as I settled in to my new work.

    I can relate! I talk to myself in english when I'm alone. I also love reading out loud and dubbing characters from the books I've read. I also record myself through my phone and converse randomly in english 😂 weird at first but it helped me a lot.

    44k in one year compare to millions of views from vlogs na puro lang naman pranks, etc. Yes, andun na yung entertainment, but people should know better na this kind of stuff will help them a LOT. I remember when I first applied in a BPO company 10 years ago nang biglaan. I was so intimidated by the interviewer. Long story short, I didn't get the job. He said, "practice English blahblah...then comeback after 2 months." And I was like, "2 months po?" LOL. Medyo lutang moment yun. Hahaha! 10 years later, I am so happy that I chose to improve my English communication skills. Not only it helped me excel in my studies, it also helped me landed to a high-paying job in freelancing with an English native client! I know this is late and I've been doing these tips from you Ms. Ayn, but thank you for sharing!

    My friends kind of find it off whenever I try to converse with them in English,lol. It's kinda hard to find someone to talk to in english with the ease of not being thought as weird or trying hard in the Philippines tbh. I felt more comfortable writing or just typing my message, so right now I'm getting little help from slowly and lingodeer app haha
    And of course watching videos like this, thanks very much. I have so many takeaways in this video.

    Loading up english vocabulary , watching english movies and reading subtitles along so you understand whats going on in the movie can help you with that. Not only movies but anything english film. Speaking english is one thing and understanding english is another thing, you need not only be good in speaking but also great in understanding what other people are saying specially black folks , because they sound slang as a mother.....Some of them speak pretty ghetto and urban specially blacks here in oakland, at least from my experience. I have not interacted much with english/british accents and their wordings and expressions and stuff but yeah theres 2 kinds of english language for me , proper english (textbook) and slang english (conversation). Most important thing is practicing your tongue in speaking it all the time, that way it will come to you naturally when you speak. And just keep reading , watching , speaking everything in english. It will sharpen your mind in speaking the language because you will know alot more terms or vocabulary while talking, lets be honest being filipino , english isnt our first language so when we talk theres latency in our phrases or sentences because we gotta think of the words or terms we want to say ,you know what i mean ? so yeah we need to have a wide vocabulary so we can easily fill that part out. Now as far as the pronunciation and accent , i must say its either you have it or you dont, you can probably improve it a bit or a bit significant by things ive mentioned above though.

    Practice English in a conversation, yes! That is right! And for some, let us not English shame or smart shame those who are practicing it. They are practicing, okay? They are not showing that they are better than anyone of us, they are just practicing. Instead, support them and help them. Always be kind.

I'm also sad because we cannot do it physical learning because it's really difficult when u only learn in modules, i'm pretty sure i'd be hard for me since i'm not really fluent when it comes to speaking.
