About number 8 - codswallop. In Poland we have (rather unused) word - kocopoły. The meaning is the same and it sounds very similar. I bet both words comes to us from Germany (cods- or koc- seams to be from German "Kotze")

OMG codswallop. My English Grandmother used to use that when she was babysitting my sister and me. She has been gone since 1977 and I miss her. If I kept pushing I would get labeled a “hooligan”. My son in law’s grandmother is from England. At my grandsons christening he wasn’t dressed to her standards- no tie. She commented on my tie- liked- and Jeremy got the “why are you dressed liked a hooligan” Need to have a strong English accent added. I about choked stifling a laugh.

Dear Lucy, have you ever heard about "bog bodies"? I described them in my bachelor's degree work at University, but I had no idea that "bog" means something vulgar either! Bog bodies means bodies found in peat moss and its related with past cultures (I am archeologist), specially in Northern Europe. And actually every time when I wanted to talk about it with someone from England they were like "Sorry? I beg your pardon? Bog?" Haha now I know why;)))
