Just a tip! You don't need to pick the shanty when you want to open up the stairs, if you stand close enough to it you'll automatically play that shanty when you start playing music!
I recently became PL and reapers starts to slow down on levelling so much so that order of souls is actually far more quicker. I was going for level 50 in reapers but progress became so slow compared to other alliances
I joined a galleon crew recently and we stacked FoTD 16 times and sold all to Reapers. I went from rank 30 to rank 50, which is good, because it would have taken me weeks playing normally. It definitely slows down after lvl 25
keep in mind that sea of thieves also has about 35-45% active player who own the game so the existing player base is likely to be the more senior players often
Yeah it's much faster but for a new player it will still take 50-100 hours at least to get PL. Maybe 200 hours depending on skill and what you spend your time doing. Not saying this is close to the old days, but it's still enough to go from someone who just tries the game to someone who actually dedicates time to it

Another benefit to being PL after Season 8 - the Athena's Fortune emissary works with Hourglass PVP if you're doing Guardians Of Fortune. You make way more money for Hourglass turn-ins (you earn Grade 3 emissary for winning the fight) and the money counts towards Athena's Fortune rank

3% getting the achievement doesn’t really mean anything when this game is on game pass. If it’s essentially free to someone they can try it without even really being interested in it. Then quitting when seeing that the game isn’t for them. My guess is that 3% is a lot higher when you look at the concurrent player base and not total all time player base
If you look to others milestonees, like sail your boat to the same direction with other boat.. like a run. Or shooting yourself with a cannon in other ship.. those things os more rare than Pirate legend
So the 3% is the amount of people that have launched the game and have gotten pirate legend. There is most likely a much higher number of players that are currently actively playing regularly that have already achieved pirate legend

I have "you say we've met before", "what is this place", "If I'm here, does that mean my journey is over", and "what's so great about being a guardian of the sea". I've gone through all dialogue options. The other option I have is to view his shop, which contains no voyages. What am I supposed to do?
As a dedicated player I would say getting PL is like brushing your teeth. If you have it/did it this morning no one is impressed by it. But if you haven’t gotten it/didn’t do it this morning everyone is disappointed and it means something.
Worth noting that legend of the veil also spawns a world event that EVERYONE in the server can see, so it puts a massive target on your back. Not sure why they didnt mention that.

Well that 3.32% of the players is not really a trustworthy piece of statistics since it also counts basically anyone who has or had the gamepass that just went and tried SoT (sometimes not even going as far as finishing the tutorial like I did 4 years ago) + the mass of people who got it for cheap on Steam and hardly ever came to play it ^^' We have no way of making sure but I'm pretty confident that easily more than half the actual active player base is Pirate Legend. I would also add, as a brand new active player, that Pirate Legend is not the first the first major step in your journey. Captaincy is.
Technically (if pvp were not a factor) it is very ulcerative because I got 30 levels in 2 days during the finale 2 weeks of season 1… besides how else would they get good at pvp?

Actually reaper is the slowest one because after you reach +40 lvl the level will start being so slow and u need emissary to level up. finding other ships with high level emissaries kinda hard
What happens: The Dunning Kruger effect, new Pirate legends think they are the smartest players on the seas but they get absolutely crapped on a hundred times or more until they humble themselves, then they become sweats.
you missed the part where i said i hadn’t done a lot for reapers. when i did most of my order of souls levels, reapers wasn’t even in the game. i got those reaper levels much faster than the order of souls levels. hope that clears it up

Yeah it's much faster but for a new player it will still take 50-100 hours at least to get PL. Maybe 200 hours depending on skill and what you spend your time doing. Not saying this is close to the old days, but it's still enough to go from someone who just tries the game to someone who actually dedicates time to it
I got my merchant to level 50 by selling animals.... I got so mad when they added cargo runs

When you become Pirate Legend.. you get more grind to do.
Order of souls is actually pretty easy to level up. Just do ashen bounty hunter. Make alot of them, good reputation. :)
