@@juanjorge751 well, his biggest win as a wrestling pro was rigged in his favour and he ended up killing an innocent man in a death match. And then the mother of said man was killed by him to in self defence, after she found out her son was drugged before the fight.
He feels guilty about it all, obviously, but what really stung was that his entire career after that was centred around a fight that he and everyone else thought was a fair and square fight to the death.
His honour was a lie and his name was painted in stolen valour.

15:04 That's really interesting to hear because Skullgirls is all hand-drawn animations, so being able to see all the effort put into every frame of animation must mean a lot to the artists. Skullgirls is definitely one of the most underrated fighting games, not just for the gameplay but the artstyle too.
I am a fighting game fan but I just can't get the hang of Skullgirls' gameplay, just not my cup of tea.

If you want more Skullgirls content, each of the characters has their own arcade story mode that you can watch which gives more context on the characters and world, or they’ve actually just started releasing new DLC characters again recently, so you could watch the trailers for those!

Guess you might need a little bit of context to understand what the heck just happened here. So!
- *Filia:* An amnesiac girl partnered with a Parasite named Samson, who's fused himself into her scalp. Samson can weave Filia's hair into various forms to attack.
- *Cerebella:* An acrobat whose circus serves the Medici Family mafia. Her Living Weapon hat, Vice-Versa, can sprout massive arms strong enough to crush most opponents and turn stones into diamonds with a single punch.
- *Peacock:* A war orphan rescued from mutilation by Anti-Skullgirl Lab 8. She's been fixed with a mechanical eye array and a device that lets her pull stuff out of her very imagination.
- *Parasoul:* Princess of the Canopy Kingdom, and leader of the Black Egrets military police force. She's aided by her fellow Egrets at times, and wields Krieg, a Living Weapon umbrella that shoots napalm orbs.
- *Ms. Fortune:* A cat feral who gained the power of the Life Gem, preventing death by dismemberment. She can stretch out her muscles and control her detached parts.
- *Painwheel:* Once a normal girl, she was captured by Anti-Skullgirl Lab 0 and turned into a violent cyborg, with an array of metallic spikes throughout her body and a giant set of rotary blades coming from her back.
- *Valentine:* The sole surviving member of Last Hope, a unit of nurse ninja who specialize in recon, research, and sabotage. All of her gear are ninja weapons with a hospital flair.
- *Double:* A shapeless abomination who serves the will of the Skull Heart. She typically appears as a nun, but her intentions are anything but sacred. She can transform into most of the other fighters, cobbling together a bizarre and unpredictable moveset.
- *Squigly:* An undead member of the lost Contiello family, her sentience protected by her Parasite ally Leviathan. Besides Leviathan's extended reach and fire breath, the two of them have some influence over space itself.
- *Big Band:* A police officer who was betrayed by his crooked superiors, but was saved by Lab 8 with a specialized exosuit loaded with pneumonic weaponry (resembling musical instruments).
- *Eliza:* This popular lounge singer is actually the ancient menace Neferu and her internal Parasite Sekhmet. Their power and longevity are fueled by consuming blood - in fact, the "body" is just a mass of blood that can turn into various Egyptian-styled forms.
- *Beowulf:* A pro wrestler famous for his match against the Gigan wrestler Grendel, though his star had long faded. He's a versatile grappler who also wields Grendel's arm (which is somewhat alive thanks to the Skullgirl's presence).
- *Fukua:* A joke character made when Decapre was announced for Ultra Street Fighter 4. Basically, she's a Filia clone with functionally different special moves and Blockbusters.
- *Robo-Fortune:* A robot built by Lab 0's director Brain Drain to be superior to Ms. Fortune in every way. She may be goofy in her own way, but she's also a dangerous adversary.
Since this video, Skullgirls also released Annie (an immortal warrior physically stuck in her youth, daylights as the star of a kids' show) and Umbrella (the younger Canopy Kingdom princess, wields the more ravenous Living Weapon Hungern).

Double (that character) is kinda sort of an Angel in the fact that she's the lead enforcer for a series of Gods of the Skullgirls universe. Her entire moveset was put together by the scraps of other character's movesets, hence why she doesn't seem to have a theme.
Kind of wish they had used the base colors for all the characters, would have made it much easier to see their personality

@@Nightwalk444 not really. Mokujin copies the moveset of ONE character at a random. Double just had bits of moves from ALL the basic characters, and some extras too. Basically a “what if a mimic goes crazy” moveset.
Skullgirls is an indie fighter from 2012 that is mostly based on Marvel vs. Capcom 2. (3v3)
The over-the-top character animation takes most of its inspiration from Darkstalkers and is the closest we'll get to another Darkstalkers game.
Darkstalkers definitely paved its legacy for other more cartoonish and stylized fighting games like this and Guilty Gear instead of sticking with martial arts like every fighting game before it did.
Also more fighters need to take note from Skullgirls, like with its tutorials.

Skullgirls is a pretty old game.
Although it first got released in 2011 or 2013 it started as a flash game in 2005 or 2006 (and was a pet project idea in the late 90s by Alex Ahad). It had Umbrella as a character back then and we only recently got her in the roster nowadays.
I'd imagine that Umbrella would have been far more basic back then compared to now though.

Double is a shapeshifter, she changes into the rest of the cast of the game depending on what move she is doing.
5:17 the Easter Island head shooting things was a reference to the games Gradius and Parodius from Konami
11:56 Fukua is a character made by repurposing the graphics of Filia and adding a few new moves to make a new character. She was made to poke fun of the Street Fighter character Decapre who many were upset at because she was basically just Cammy with a mask on.

Something really cool that you didn’t get to see is that Big Band can play any time that the player inputs during his final super, so there’s videos out there of people playing all kinds of classy tunes with him!
Something that makes this game beautiful is that each frame of movement of all the characters is drawn by hand. It's basically a cartoon made into a fighting game.
My favorite character in the game is Painwheel, because of the story mode and her design (she is a cutie pie under the mask)

Double, the Nun lady, was rapidly shapeshifting into the different characters on the roster. Very hard to follow.
Ms. Fortune, the cat lady with the detachable limbs, is one of my favorites. Love the design and the way her movements and attacks look. The Nurse is of course also one of my favorites but for... other reasons.
The roadroller is a LV3 (large object) item drop, and it’s not a guarantee. Avery does no additional damage while going MUDAMUDAMUDA but it counts as a combo hit.
Oh yeah btw Annie and Umbrella were added to Skullgirls recently and you gotta check their blockbuster moves.
Two of the characters that you haven't seen are Annie and Umbrella. During EVO it was revealed that the endgame boss (For at least a majority of the cast) Marie was announced for DLC. Black Dahlia is still being worked on at this time.

Skullgirls is great! I still play now and again and i'm not that into fighting games. I believe all the animation is hand drawn so it's very unique. Also when the game first came out it had an all female line up, Big Band was the first male added after the game's release. They are still adding characters after over 10 years now which is really cool.
My favorite character is definitely Big Band, the Jazz and instrument theme is my jam. One thing to note is the attack at 11:08 as you can play the trumpet with different buttons while the meter goes down. People have used this to play bits of music while this happens, i remember a video where someone managed to squeeze in 'Happy Birthday' before pummeling them after!

I love this game, I backed this day 1 on kickstarter since it was the creation of AlexAhad. Combine that with MikeZ's engine and great rollback implementation for online and it became the makings of a great new fighting game IP. Shame there was a lot of internal conflict with the team, but I still love the arstyle, character design, and lore.
Peacock for example is an experimented child casualty of war. She was found severely damaged and missing various body parts. She was saved and turned into a living weapon, her whole cartoon aesthetic is due to her holding onto her past memories prewar, enjoying cartoon with her friend Marie at the orphanage.
My favorite fighting game of this decade and the last!

Skullgirls is an amazing game, I've been playing the mobile version for 2 years now. I considered recommending it, but I wasn't sure if a reaction could be possible with how flippant CZcams can be with their guidelines.

Skullgirls is a very stylish and well done fighting game that the developers for one reason or another just left to rot for nearly a decade. They had a TON of characters (like 30-40 more than what're currently in) planned for this game and be it a lack of funding or the lead designer on the game who was kind of (really) a garbage person, it just kind of died off save for a small community.
It's come back in the last couple years, very slowly, but still come back to trickle some characters out for the first time in years and that's a very good sign of things to come hopefully.
It’s a very unique game and hope that it gets some more love. We wouldn’t mind covering more of it 🙂
There's actually a new character that came out fairly recently that wasn't included in this video, her name is Umbrella and she has really cool moves!

I thought I would share what I know about each character if you want to know more details (Obviously it will be horribly explained but check out more if this interests you):
Filia is a girl with a parasite in her hair named samson with the goal to recover Filia's memory.
Beowulf is a wrestler who was very popular but now he seeks to come back to entertain his fans.
Peacock is a child who had body alterations so now she has the same fighting properties as a cartoon character because she loves cartoons so much.
Valentine is a nurse who has her own goals and will stop at nothing to achieve them.
Double is a shapeshifter who poses as a nun and changes form to fool a lot of people.
Eliza is a woman who loves to have power. She also loves blood and does whatever she needs to get what she wants.
Ms. Fortune is a catgirl with detachable limbs and she will fight for the people she care about.
Squigly is a dead singer who rises from the dead with the main goal being to defeat the Skullgirl.
Parasoul is a princess who is very strict and will do what she can to protect her kingdom.
Cerebella is a circus performer in the mafia who does what her boss asks of her.
Robo-Fortune is a robotic copy of Ms. Fortune and is programmed to defeat the Skullgirl
Painwheel is a girl who was experimented on to be how she looks now. She is being forced to defeat the Skullgirl.
Big Band is a detective with music themed body alterations. He fights the skullgirl as that is his group's main goal.
Fukua is a clone of Filia. She was added on April Fool's as a joke but fans loved her so now she is a real character.
And two others were missing so I'll add them here:
Annie is a 15 year old actress who aims to fight the skullgirl before she causes more damage
Umbrells is Parasoul's younger sister with her umbrella Hungern. (If I'm being honest, I don't remember what they fight for)
Umbrella is wanting to prove to her sister that she can fight on par with her.
That Valentine description, it sounds

Impressive this game was crowdfunded and still managed to come out looking amazing. That and having better netcode than a lot of AAA games that came out even 5 years later, although I guess that's more on other people not switching over to rollback. There was a My Little Pony game called Them Fightin' Herds that did the same thing pretty much.
Double is that character that can be other characters, like Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat. They just went for a Cthulhu monster to explain that which is unique as far as an animation style.
8:43 Didn't know there was a Gundam and Metroid theme for Robo Fortune Also that "what am I fighting for?" line at that end got me. It's form Megaman X4 and is one of the worst examples of voice acting in a game ever. As such, it's hilarious.

There were a few Jojo references in their fighting styles. Here are the ones I picked up:
Big Band stopped time with his trumpet and unleashed a barrage of fists like DIO does with his stand The World. I believe he even says MUDA MUDA MUDA MUDA.
Filia fighting with her hair is similar to Yukako's stand Love Deluxe, which uses the same method of her hair as a weapon.
Peacock's ultimate drops a steam roller on the enemy and you can hear an audible WRYYYY, just like DIO's most famous attack where he stopped time to drop a ROAD ROLLA on Jotaro.
JoJo references all over the place 😯😀

This game is fun to play on phone or on game systems as the game have a unique story, music and atmosphere in a mix chill old Italian style. 😄 Fun fact, this game have iconic characters color schemes that comes from Marvel, Jojo Adventures, and much more. Also the specials have unique features of the creative team’s favorites franchise out there.

Ah yea this is one of my top five FG, Autumn game's really went in on making every character unique. Small roster but very personalized hope y'all get around to playing the story mode the girls have some crazy backstory's.

If you look at painwheel closer you can see spikes coming out of her skin and her joints exceeding the normal range of motion that just makes her look like she has broken limbs, really makes my skin crawl

Fun fact. There was this my little pony fan created fighting game. Well, Hasbro drove it to the ground.
Then, the people behind Skullgirls gave the devs the engine they used to the devs of mlp game. Then the god Lauren, made a bunch of character design which became them's Fighting herds characters. It's a pretty well known fighting game these days.
This video actually didn't include all of the characters, it leaves out the DLC characters for second encore, namely Annie of the Stars and Umbrella, and also technically Black Daliah but she's still in the play testing phase

Id like to note that the reason the other player fight back time to time is due to skullgrils (i guess you would call it) stun-lock prevention to prevent players from killing their enemy with 1 infinet combo, after a curtain amount of hits the charecter will force the other play back with a hit stopping said combo giving the other player a chanse to fight back
Skullgirls was also recognized in the 2013 Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition for the most frames of animation per character, reaching 11,515 total frames for its initial eight characters and averaging 1,439 frames per fighter.

Yeah... I think you were looking at an older video. There are a few more characters now. Also, you may have heard the dragon in Squiggly's head before, and not realized it. It is the one and only Liam O'Brien the voice of Gaara in Naruto and Vax from Legend of Vox Machina. Also the guy at the end yelled, "CALL MY BOOKIE!" aka he made a bet on the losing fighter.
So, the plot of the Skullgirls it's that there's the Skull Heart, a mysterious, sentient artifact that can grant a girl any wish. But if the wish isn't pure, the girl in question becomes a Skullgirl, a being that causes a lot of destruction. So, the characters in there are out to either get the Skull Heart, defeat the Skullgirl, or some other reasons.
As for the characters:
-Filia is a girl who has a parasite called Samson that controls her hair. She lost her memories, so Filia and Samson go on their journey to get her memories back.
-Beowulf is a wrestler who fights with a chair and with Grendel's dismembered arm. He's in this adventure to get back to his old days of glory, but finds out that there's a whole lot more behind the scenes.
-Peacock is a little girl who was previously a human trafficking slave who got brutally beaten and maimed. But she got rebuilt as a cyborg with reality-altering powers, and she uses her powers like a cartoon character, seeking to defeat the Skullgirl.
-Double is a shapeshifting monster who works for the Skullgirl. She turns into other characters during her moves (and also into a Moai from Gradius, during her last super move)
-Valentine is a ninja nurse who works with Double for the Skullgirl, but she has her own agenda. She uses a combination of ninja techniques and medical equipment
-Painwheel was once a normal girl, but she got kidnapped, tortured and turned into the (understandably) furious monstrosity that she is today. She's unwillingly working for Valentine, but wants freedom and to finally return home to her parents. She deserves all the hugs.
-Parasoul is the princess and military leader of the Canopy Kingdom, the very kingdom that the game takes place in. Her mother was the previous Skullgirl, so, as she hears about a new Skullgirl in town, she goes there to defeat the Skullgirl. She fights with her umbrella sword and with the help of her elite squad.
-Ms. Fortune is a catgirl who used to have a crew of thieves. She stole the Life Gem from the Medici mafia and swallowed it, becomming immortal. However, she and her crew got caught by the mafia, her crew was killed and she was chopped to pieces, but survived because of the Life Gem. She now goes after the Skull Heart to wish her crew back to life. She fights with her claws and acrobactic moves, as well as dismembering herself in certain moves.
-Cerebella is a circus acrobat by day and Medici mafia enforcer by night. She's tasked with retrieving the Life Gem from Ms. Fortune. She fights with her living hat, which has a pair of big arms, that she uses for strong attacks and powerful grapple moves.
-Big Band is a former policeman who got beaten to near death, but got rescued by Dr. Avian (the same doctor who rebuilt Peacock into who she is today) and got rebuilt as a cyborg, with his whole body having musical instruments as limbs. He's there to help Peacock to defeat the Skullgirl.
-Robo-Fortune is a robot version of Ms. Fortune, who is tasked with defeating the Skullgirl
-Fukua is a clone of Filia, made as an April Fools joke character, but fans liked her and now she's in the roster
-Squigly is a zombie girl who used to be a singer, but was killed in a Medici mafia mob hit, years before the main events of the game. Now, with the appearance of the Skullgirl, she and her parasite Leviathan were brought back to life, so she sets out to defeat the Skullgirl to stop her destruction.
-Eliza is a woman who has a parasite called Sekhmet, who is literally her skeleton. She's a power-hungry, bloodthirsty (literally) woman who wants to defeat the Skullgirl and get the power to become unstoppable

oh yeah, just a heads up, all of the characters in this video were shown with alternate color schemes so... yeah.
edit: another thing: during Big Band's last super, you can actually input any notes you want in the time you're given, meaning that some people play the John Cena theme or Megalovania or something else like that before delivering a beatdown on their opponents.
Always funny how videos like to do that for these compilations. Which we guess most people that watch this have played the Game, but it is always confusing for newbies like us when they aren’t in their original outfits 🤗
The "nun" is Double, a powerful supernatural polymorph who can basically shapeshift into anyone or anything they want. All the characters you see them turning into are either playable characters or assist characters.
Double's thing is that she's a Shang Tsung type character...on crack.
Basically uses other characters moves plus new ones with their own twist on them.

Skullgirls was a crowdfunded fighting game, designed by pro fighting game players who knew all the little details that other fighting game fans would want in the game. Ex: In tournaments, you can be disqualified/have your current round counted as a "loss" if you pause the game, even by accident. The makers of Skullgirls came up with an idea: What if you have to hold the pause button for several seconds before the game actually pauses? This also helps newbies who just want to mash buttons, it keeps them from accidentally ruining the fun and pace of pressing buttons frantically.
This feature has now become the new standard for the genre.

Skullgirls is a 2D fighting game that came out in 2012; it was created by Reverge Labs and published by Autumn Games.
It's one of the few fighting games to feature a primarily all female cast with each individual character being inspired by a real life influence. The main story involves an alternate universe where 3 major deities, a mother and her two daughters, are secretly plotting to the plunge the world into chaos and eternal destruction. To that end, they created the 'Skullheart', a sentient artificial heart that acts as a wishing stone granting a free wish to any female that it comes across. The catch is that this is a trap, as the insidious nature of the heart corrupts and devours its possessor into becoming what is known as the 'Skullgirl' an avatar of destruction and death bound to the will of the 3 goddesses.
In conjunction to this, other smaller but equally important storylines include organized crime and human trafficking, global warfare and political corruption, unregulated human experimentation and body modification, and even symbiotic relationships with the planets indigenous life.
Another major plotline in the game is the use and application of parasites as a form of weapons, fashion, etc. One example is the character of Squiggly. Her real name is SIenna Contiello, and she is an undead zombie hailing from a family of opera singers. One her mother's birthday, monster Double (the demonic nun who serves the goddesses) gave her the Skull heart; the Contiellos were close affiliates to the Mafia, using their funds to pay protection fees. As the Mafia wanted Skullheart for themselves, they fell for Double's trap and gunned down the entire family, Squiggly included, forcing her mom to become the Skullgirl in order to bring her family back from the dead. One things about the heart is that it can resurrect the dead, but the limitations are that the dead are zombies and revenants with no free will. Squiggly is "free" of this due to Leviathan, an ancient parasite who bound himself to her family and infested her body in order to preserve what was left of her individuality, albeit she is a walking corpse, who body was desecrated by the Mafia.
Each character in the game has a similarly horrible backstory, and the game is incredibly gruesome and morbid, making it a source of humor both genuine and dark. If you love dark stories with some fluff, then I highly recommend playing. As of the making of this video, they've recently added more characters, and are actually planning to make the final boss 'Bloody Marie' (yes her name is a reference to Bloody Mary) available as a playable character for the game's third season of content. Due to its popularity, it's also a highly lucrative eSports game, primarily within the FGC (fighting game community) and is sits on a high ranking alongside other heavyweights such as Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter.

ooh and if you do decide to play it, the game has some of the best training modes out there, it taught my 7 year old niece who's never touched a legit fighter her whole life until then how to pull moves and string basic combos
And yes, Big Band is pretty much a competent Inspector Gadget with instruments as weapons and tools.

I was actually playing Skullgirls Mobile when I saw the upload lol. I've been playing for 2 years. Like I actually started in October 2020, and now it's October 2022. But it wasn't for horror reasons lol. I saw the ad somewhere and was intrigued. I haven't played the console version yet.

Big band have a move where he play the trumpet... that move u can actually play wathever u want. esch buton is a difetent note , there are videos of 2 players playing entire songs instead of figthing

Every single frame of animation in Skullgirls need to see in slowmotion. It's masterpeice art. It's good that training have option to slowdown game so you can this beatiful animations

I knew that you would be surprised to see Ms Fortune (the catgirl) throw her head. Non-players always freak out about it, but the shock you got when she used the ,,Fifth of Dismember" move (the bloody explosion) was hillarious. 😹

Oh, also Robo Fortune is a reference to Robo Ky(Ky Kisuke's joke robo double) from the Guilty Gear Series and Fukua is a joke reference to characters like Akuma from Street Fighter, Shadow the Hedgehog from the Sonic Series and Lilith from the Darkstalker Series, sharing the same looks as Fillia but given a different move set to show that she's a 'different character'.
Double has a mixture of most everyones moves, making her an unpredictable character. She poses as a nun in the church that houses the current Skull Girl below.
