Umbrella is so bouncy and expressive, all her animations are extremely clean and have distinct poses throughout, it honestly reminds me of the reason I love Skullgirls so much. Even the small details like her Skullgirl eyes lighting up during blockbusters, or even Hungern having distinct expressions, it’s so much passion all jumbled into one character! This game *NEEDS* more popularity so the devs get the money they deserve

I never even noticed when she does any blockbuster she gets the Skullgirl eyes. That’s such a nice touch that you literally would never even see.

Hungern gives me nightmares. Never thought an elderich umbrella monster thing would ever creep me out but here we are. Credit to the designers for the look.
The pulsating idle animation, the spinal cord umbrella handle, the eyes, the long tongue, the fact that opening Hungern means seeing their inner flesh. UGHHH. It's horrifying in a weirdly artistic way.
Hungern is super gross, but it's funny how it's offset by how much comic violence he gets put through. There's some attacks where Umbrella pushes his tongue out further with the handle, and a lot of getting smothered or smashed on the ground.
Does Hungern is related to Double the Nun in some sort of way?
@@meremsolomon4744 I believe it was said Hungern's powers use the same magic that the goddess Venus uses (who's connected to Double), but that's old lore and might no longer be canon.

I just realize Bobblin bubble as well as wish maker and her air throw is a reference to the game Bubble Bobble.
I haven't noticed it till now since I only recently played it but that's really admirable to actually get a reference on my own.

I just realized Bobblin' Bubble's animation is a reference to Bubble Bobble. Now the name makes even more sense to me
I feel like this is another situation like with Annie where umbrella by herself isn’t actually all that with her animations and the partner (her umbrella) is doing a lot for her variety
But unlike Annie umbrellas… umbrella is a big part of her character making her animations as a whole a lot more expressive
A little detail that kinda overlook if you didn't know the lore
Umbrella is born after her mother become the Skullgirls, due to that reason, she's carrying Skullgirls blood and become a potential candidate of next Skullgirls.
That's why her eyes glowing red when she perform special moves.
While there's no lore or any lead to origin of hunger, I believe it's also has somewhat connection to Skullgirls
The handle of hunger look like a skeletal structure of a bone, and it's ability to synchronize with umbrella Skullgirls power might explain why it's radically different from her sister weapon.
hungern isn't really connected to the heart/skullgirls, its just another parasite thats known to all theons but its form changes based on its user, hence why the handle is bones due to umbrellas blood being skullgirl related, its literal power is to just consume everything, thats why samson and lev are scared on why umbrella has a dangerous theon like that
It's my understanding that Hungern siphons the Skullgirl energy from Umbrella, acting like a limiter of sorts.
I did not realize this, but her eyes become that of the skullgirl's when performing certain attacks. And considering I know her dark secret, that's terrifying.

Update: Ok, so I finally got around to using Umbrella in Skullgirls mobile and I found out that unfortunately, the animation of Hungern swallowing the opponent is not included in the game. Shame:(
But the move definitely does prevent the opponent from reviving so it's not too bad:)
Update 2: lol ok so I was too quick to update last time.
The mobile version does have the animation. Just that there are 2 variations.
If used against 1 or the last opponent(if there are 2 or more), Hungern does swallow them completely, but the dead body still gets spit out.
If used on the 1st and/or 2nd opponent in a vs 2/3 fight, the body is swallowed and no dead body is spit out.
(Fyi: The move used is "Feeding time", her 3rd tier blockbuster)

@@fae_gavan7582 that’s correct, it’s the same in 2E, hungern only swallows the opponent if the first hit (the bite) gets the opponent’s health to 0, If it doesn’t, he will finish the blockbuster and spit them back out, dealing even more damage.

cause shes a living soon to be skullgirl by blood, like shes a literal pure skullgirl without the heart but with all of its powers due to being born when her mom was the skullgirl so genetically shes a skullgirl too, thats why the heart has a huge hold into her heart and affects her soo much since they are connected and her getting the heart mean the actual world ending since she'd be the literal strongest to exist with double skullgirl powers from the heart and her skullgirl blood, theres a reason the family gave her hungern since its eatting and keeping in check umbrellas true powers from leaking out

it has been 8 years since the team did a character so gotta get that rust off with annie being the first after 8 years, with umbrella you can tell they got back to the groove they had back then and even with black dahlia it still shows with how much they have shown

Annie has way less frames of animation in general, I don't know exactly why that is, but you can really tell the difference when you look at Umbrella.
Even then, annie's video really looks incomplete once you watch it, like is more an alpha preview than the final one.
