  • We've been saying for years that Star Wars hasn't been the same since the House of Mouse got their hands on it. Here's what George Lucas finally said about it: and what I think is really lost here.

    I was 10 years old when my dad brought me to see my first Star Wars movie. I remember being completely mesmerized by the magic that I was watching on a movie sceeen that for a 10 year old was larger than life. I didn't want this ride to end, and with each subsequent installment of the next episode, there stirred within me an excitement that was absolutely palpable. Well, that was then. I havent watched any Star Wars since The Last Jedi. I actually walked out of the movie theater that day, I was so utterly mortified by what I was witnessing. They killed our heroes, one by one, they killed them. As far as Im concerned we have only Star Wars in name, with none of the excitement, charm or exhilaration the original movies evoked in us. Another George Lucas can rise from the ashes someday and give us something we can yearn for once again. Maybe. For now its over. We cannot turn back time, but we can turn our backs on this tripe. May the force be with all those that actually love, cherish and admire the Star Wars we all grew up loving. To all those 10 year olds, like myself, that were givin a gift a magic, so pure and beautiful, sitting next to their father's, in a movie theater somewhere far far away...

    Not a huge Star Wars fan I must admit, there are aspects that I enjoy but overall from beginning to end it’s just all right, But I don’t see how the (media whatever’s )that big of a change. He said it was in everything and now they just gave a name to where it comes from, other than just the force

    To Disney, Star Wars is a box of empty puppets, with holes in the bottom, where any random actor can stick his/her/other hand inside & make the puppets say whatever they want them to say. As for MIDI-Chlorians, I am thinking it might be one of the cases where the characters might not actually understand how things work. It's similar to how we once all thought that the sun revolved around the Earth. It is kinda true, from a certain point of view, but the math is far more complicated. You can set any origin point you want, but you also have to account for all the other forces involved.
    This is what I am wondering: Are the presence of MIDI-Chlorians a cause or an effect? Are the presence of MIDI-Chlorians and their quantity REALLY what gives a Jedi his or her power, or are MIDI-Chlorians merely a by-product of The Force being present? I tend to think that The Force isn't just the result of a large bacterial infection, that takes over one's mind. I tend to think that they developed the technology to detect the organisms, and they just drew the wrong conclusion. Ben "knew" about MIDI-Chlorians, but he chose to describe The Force differently to Luke.

    I completely scoffed at Lucas' recent comments. While I agree with what he said, I'm having a hard time giving two-sh*ts about his opinions since he essentially saved Bob Iger's job when he fully endorsed him a few weeks back when Nelson Peltz was going for board seats.

    • @dlieneck
      @dlieneck Před 12 dny

      @@CMONCMON007Because for better or worse Nelson wanted to make a profit for shareholders, plain and simple. The current products of Disney prioritize “the agenda” over making money for shareholders which violates their fiduciary duty.
      If “the agenda” made money it wouldn’t be much of a conversation. It would be full steam ahead even if hardcore fans were unhappy.

      How does anyone with a brain misplace a vehicle that huge? Lame the way they made Han basically seems to have run out on Leia. The fact they are afraid of Ben Solo becoming like Vader. Come on now this is decades later and Leia's father gave his life to rid himself and his family from Palpatine. I would think Luke would have told Leia what Vader's last act was and that would give her hope to not have taken that long to reach out with the force to get Ben Solo's attention to get through to him that Vader joined the dark side because he wanted the power to save Padme from dying only to become angry and blame all his loss on the Jedi order.

      By introducing midi-chlorians as a conduit to the Force, they entered the same field as the Ancient Gene from Stargate Atlantis. They could have had a Force user breeding program or black market temporary Force booster in a syringe/hypo-spray. But no, Anakin was the Chosen One and they never talked about midi-chlorians ever again.

    The only Star Wars movie I actually watched completely that Disney made without walking out of the movie theatre halfway an getting my money back was Rogue One... I loved it! As for why... It answered a question I had as a kid for the first Star Wars movie in the original trilogy... The question... What happened to Rogue One? You see... The fighters which took out the Death Star that Skywalker was apart of and finished the job was called Rogue 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 I think. Can't remember exactly how many off the top of my head... Anyway guess which of these didn't appear in the movie... Rogue 1 or in this case... Rogue One. Almost like it was either deemed missing in action or destroyed before hand. It was as if the Rogues which took out the Death Star were honouring Rogue 1 which went missing in action when getting the plans of how to destroy the Death Star.

    Disney tried this with Pixar ~30 years ago. It took them a bit, but they backed off reconstituting/micromanaging how Pixar made movies when the initial results were crap. Once they let John Lassiter and team create Toy Story and it was a giant critical and commercial success, the Pixar brand was born. In this case, they've done the opposite. They won't let go of their agenda to improve quality, and until they do, the brand will continue to implode. Oh, well.
