Gold Sarcophagus of Light's last effect of discarding a spell to stop the opponent from reviving a monster is a reference to the anime where the original Gold Sarcophagus Trapped away Monster Reborn to prevent the revival of Slifer
Which is also symbolic to the meaning of that duel. Yugi was denying Atem’s rebirth. Allowing him to join the afterlife, with his friends and family. In addition, the Japanese artwork for monster reborn, is the Egyptian symbol for “life”.
I may be missing something else here, but it’s surprisingly poetic in its intent.
The problem is that it doesn't stop the revival, only send it back to the grave. Often current meta decks can still just provoke the effect again, making this useless. It would need to negate the revival and stop the monster from being revived by any means for the rest of the turn to actually be good.

I mean, you could say that Silent Magician Zero does that, since it was on the board when Monster Reborn was played, and so was the Gold Sarcophagus, which Zero needs to negate the Spell. So, it might have some symbolism there too.
Bakura says that was the most evenly-matched duel he's ever seen, which, given that he was present for the one between Jonouchi/Joey and Keith, is really saying something.

Supposedly they're all supposed to be reflective of him to some capacity.
They're largely toys reflecting his child like nature. Blockman, gadgets, Marshmallon is like a plush etc.
The Silent Swordsman/Magician archetypes are supposed to represent his shyness.
Gandorah is supposed to represent a child's temper tantrum.
Even the magician girls from the movie might be reflective of Yugi to some extent (the early Manga touched on how he was a bit of a perv).

I like the theme of protection and bonds the deck is going with. The Gold Sarcophagus powers up the monsters with their latent abilities, such as Atem did for Yugi. While the monsters make sure to defend the sarcophagus and each other from all adversaries; just as Yugi did for the millennium puzzle and his friends.
I would not be surprised if Legacy of Destruction had more duel monsters support in it.
You know sometimes it surprises me how long they take to make turn anime exclusive cards into oficial cards
It's because those anime-exclusives are either horrible or too powerful for the era it debuted and these days tend to be underpowered if anything.
I'm still waiting for Hope for the Future and a retrained Divine Neos

Because their to busy vomiting waifu cards and lore stuff, they don’t even care about anime stuff since most of the time they just give them bad support that doesn’t do anything.
Gandora was always a monster that I wanted more support for I’m glad we’re finally getting a new one

I love these cards and I can’t wait to build this deck. There’s so much flavor and references in these cards. By far my favorite legacy support and archetype in years
7:58 I think “Ties of Friendship” is also meant to be a reference to the card of the same name Yugi got for beating Pegasus. Which he ended up giving to Rebecca at the end of their duel. I'm glad it's finally being made real in some capacity. I just wish it would get an alternate art as well with its art from the Anime.

I get how _Ties of Friendship_ is based on Kazuki's Duel Art 18 featuring Yugi and his Millennium World monsters. I just wondering why Blockman was left out of all this?
Seems because it would of course be token related which would cause a problem because meta may use it in some way for negate boards.

I personally disagree. They've already gotten retrains and their own archetypes and not only that, the support that Yugi's getting is based on the cards that he used in the manga version of the Ceremonial Duel.
@@ShadowSaberBaroxio I wouldn’t necessarily call Summoned Skull an archetype. All he got were Extra Deck retrains that float into the original. Unless you’re referring to Archfiends, in that case it’s not even his archetype, just a case of Konami’s habit of making the English names not fit the archetype they’re in (ex: Rainbow Dragon being an Ultimate Crystal card)
@@windrider2190 I was indeed referring to Archifiends. It might not be a "Summoned Skull" archetype, but it IS still an archetype he's a part of.

I want this deck so much! All these cards are so cool and resilience! Little Yugi is still my favorite protagonist! And I love how Ties of Friendship pay homage to Kazuki Takahashi's artwork of Yugi and his monsters from the Memory World arc.

An unexpected side effect of this reveal is that it very likely eliminates Yugi’s Silent monsters from the running of next year’s Light Attribute Duelist Pack. 🤔

Gold Sarcophagus of Light having monster protection actually seems to be a way of it avoiding destruction when used with Geas Gandora as it does a bottomless where it destroys before banish.
I also love the new silents, it’s been literal years since they got something.
With this archetype existing, it’s possible that we will get “Legendary Dragon” support

I mean they did make one of them an actual monster. They just need to tie another dragon form to their respective duelists' archetypes. Have Kiba's focus of fusion using his card type, Joey with his, and maybe make a spell or something to allow you to cheat the warriors out by using their dragon forms as cost or condition.
I love all of these!! Just wish they had found a way to tie Summoned Skull and the Magnet Warriors into the deck
I have always wanted to play a deck that references yugi's deck in his dual with atem, in a competitive way. I can't wait till these cards come out. I hope Konami does something like this for Rafael's guardians. I would love to see an updated guardian archetype.

Imagine if they gave this new Deck a Field Spell (based around either Yugi's mental world, or the ceremonial duel arena), with an effect that was like this "If "Gold sarcophagus of light" is on the field or GY...... (an effect that worked like necrovalley?)"
I actually have a deck based of Yugi's ceremonial duel with the Gadgets, Magnet Warriors, Gandora, the Silent monsters and other monsters he used in the duel including Buster Blader and Curse of Dragon (but I use Curse of Dragonfire). These new cards are definitely going to streamline that deck

Yeah! I already have both character decks so now they'll have an upgrade. While I love the retrains, they should've also made the cards that haven't been made at all yet. Like Mirage Spell, Mirage Ruler, Turn Jump, and a few Atem used, like Summoning Clock.

@@hungerxhunger2548 I've been training with it on edopro. I replaced the older cards with the newer one but kept the others in like Buster Blader, Summoned Skull and such. Before, I had the deck card for card plus good staples, even the extra deck, just so it could keep up.
They probably are going to. It’s probablu why they printed these first. Because they’ve otherwise printed every other Atem deck
I've been wanting for them to make a stronghold that gains attack in intervals of 1000 for years. I just always thought it'd be based off the gadgets you currently control. Almost like harpies pet dragon.

sounds fun. plus the spells Silent Burning and Silent sword slash would work for the new silents meaning silents now have two different cards that allow you to draw until you have 6 cards.

Ive alwaysss wanted a deck that could have all of Yugis monsters but actually have synergy its about timeee (hopefully joey gets something similar i wana run an aligator sword retrain with a rocket warrior retrain)
They’ve always had synergy. The manga and anime prove this. Word you are looking for is consistency.
I was kinda hoping for the new support cards for little Yugi to have a generic card that can change/skip turns (Speed Up the Number of Turns). For example, if you use a hard once-per-turn effect, after skipping the turn this allows the player to use that once-per-turn effect again.

I feel like I wanna play test this and see how it works, because from reading the descriptions I don’t really understand how it works aha.
It's basically a Protect the Castle control/ramp deck. Most of the cards have effects that protect each other, but they only work as long as you can keep Gold Sarcophagus around. The idea seems to be that you spend the early game building up your protections, then go in with the monsters like the dragon/fortress/silents who get more powerful in the mid-late game.
Really cool cards. The baby versions looks chibi.

Gold Sarcophagus of light is a natural for thinning the deck. Make this a Gold/Exodia deck plus level limit area B and exodia support. Boss deck!

Since the official cards were too expensive, we can use printed cards and bring it to locals(it’s okay to play printed cards at our locals), and I just used this Gold Sarcophagus deck beat the Snake-Eyes Fire King deck😂even only once, I still happy about it

Man here i thought little yugi would get an updated kuriboh to his deck send kuriboh to the hand to the GY to incress a monsters level by 3 banish kuriboh from GY from play then take no battle damage and stop one attack That would of Been perfect for the new support :) I cant wait test these in master duels / with Gate guardian support

A lot of decks yugi used other than DM need that sweet sweet support. And he used way too many decks (gandora, exodia, buster blader, gaia, etc etc)

This is going to be an interesting rank 4 deck. I don't like it being focused around a spell card. The only battle protection this deck has is mashimarshmellon I wonder if the spell cards for silent swordsman would work here. And silent paladin. If you slot the other gadgets in you'll at 1 or 2 you'll not run out of monsters. Some battle traps and staples could make this interesting

I think the new Gandora has a big issue which is to make him strong you might end up destroying your own cards and it's bad especially since we don't have a card similar to Salamangreat Ballelynx, that we can banish so our monsters aren't blown away by Gandora

Cant wait for the Card of sanctity card to be eighter banned or hopefully only usufull in an pure yugi moto deck. I mean i think most Decks would be able to get the spell and a fitting monster on Board. Then battle and then draw up to six cards. I am really worried
It needs to be used in the Battle Phase for the draw effect, plus you'll also be required to run at least one copy of another card from the batch, and then you can't have already drawn that card.
If you can't search then the card is dead and can't be played. So yeah, it's not gonna be that useful out of archetype.

Not really Card of Sanctity, but Spell Textbook, as that's the card Yugi used to draw Six cards in his hand to max out Silent Magician.
You are wrong. Read the source manga version of Yugi vs Atem.
The move was always meant to reference card if sanctity. The only reason spell textbook was used in the anime was because they were trying to follow the rules of the official game a lot more closely and since card of sanctity is a normal spell, they couldn’t use it in the battle phase so to circumvent it, spell textbook was used.
Plus spell textbook’s effect led Yugi to using card of sanctity so that’s very clearly the reference trying to be made.

This seems a lot less like Yugi support and a lot more like a whole NEW archetype that's vaguely Yugi themed but not directly involved. All these cards revolve around essentially playing GSoL, another new card, as the core of what would ultimately be a new deck as a result.

Yugioh is a manga series with 2 adaptations. Yugi is NOT the true Game King.
On October 25, 2016, Kazuki Takahashi released a "This is just one possible future story" concept idea set 4 years after the events of the manga canon sequel The Dark Side of Dimensions on his Studio Dice instagram account. In the story, Takahashi confirmed to us that Yugi did not become the new Game King after beating Atem. Why? He stated:
"ここから武藤遊戯は新たなる遊戯王=GAME KING を目指し旅立つのであった〜！"
Translation: "From now on Yugi Mutou becomes the new Yuugi Ou = GAME KING has departed for his goal~!"
The creators words are law. Not Toei, Bandai, Konami, NAS/Gallop, 4Kids. Yugi is NOT the Game King NOR the true Game King. There is no "true" Game King. There are multiple Game King's in history. Sugoroku was his era's. Yami Yugi is the titular Game King in Takahashi's story. Since the Spherium II futute story is only a concept, Yugi is not the new Game King. The fact Takahashi went out of his way to state it in this story confirms he wasn't the Game King after beating Atem nor held the title in The Dark Side of Dimensions. It is only AFTER that.

Normally I don't like mashing a bunch of anime cards together, but in this case it kinda works. It's all very childlike, and that whimsy ties together tee idea of a dragon, a knight, a wizard, and a robot working together. They all feel like they came out of a toy box.

I like most of these retrains, except for Marshmellon. It's not as good as the original if it needs a spell just to have its basic protection. And it's a little bit disappointing that these retrains have no synergy with their older counterparts. Still, I'm excited to see Yugi get support again.
I mean the Silent stuff and Gandora work great with their old stuff
