The Beach Boys - Walk On By / Are You There [AI]

So many Beach Boys fans have requested this one, and the truth is, I always had it in my mind to get to it eventually. But this one took a REALLY interesting turn. While I was putting this together, I listened to the "rehearsal" take, and noticed they were jamming out on some different chords towards the end. I'd probably heard it before, and never thought much of it - and I don't recall ever seeing it being discussed amongst fans. Anyway, I went ahead and isolated the vocals, and couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was Brian & Carl talking clear as day about how they wanted to make "Walk On By" part of a 2-song Burt Bacharach medley! These chords weren't just a "jam". They don't mention the title, but you can hear Carl humming the melody so soft, that I couldn't even isolate it. But it was just enough to make it out, so I started scanning through every 60's Bacharach song, and lo and behold, it turns out it was "Are You There" by Dionne Warwick. So, while I thought this was gonna be a straight cover of "Walk On By", it turned into something very different. Semi-true to the original intention, here's "Walk On By / Are You There" - featuring all 6 AI Beach Boys!

I just wanted to let you know, I showed these to Bruce Johnston last night, unsure what we would think of them. He loved them and couldn’t believe they were AI. It was amazing to watch his reaction to these, he definitely enjoyed them. You’ve got the approval of at least one Beach Boy!
That’s absolutely nuts to think Bruce heard these. I wish I could’ve been a fly on the wall when that happened!

I like how it's not too much of a stretch to think that this was a genuine idea that Brian and Carl had. Makes this mix feel more like a definitive completion of the whole "walk on by" track. Awesome stuff
It was a genuine idea - most of this is from an aborted session. Dae finished it.

I think this works so well because it's mixture of real stuff and A.I stuff using the real stuff as a base

As a long-time Beach Boys fan (1966 on), I think this is great! Please consider creating an AI version of Dennis Wilson singing lead on "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times" (which was Brian's original plan) and Dennis singing "I've Got A Friend" using the studio backing track and Dennis' live vocal as a guide.

Oh wow, I never knew that. I can totally hear Dennis singing "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times"! I think his voice would suit it much better than Brian's. There's no high notes in that song come to think of it. It's way lower than Brian typically sang.
@@jamie.lennon1 FYI. There is an un-faded version of the song where Dennis sings the line, "I guess I just wasn't made for these times" just after the song ends.
@@jamie.lennon1 Dennis’s voice really would have suited that song. The final song with Brian is still amazing, but Dennis on I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times would remind me of the song In The Back Of My Mind from the Today album.
It seems as though He's merged ai lead vocals with the original instrumentals and backing vocals, which helps give it a more natural feel.
Do you know where the instrumental for the are you there part came from?

It's a mix of the original instruments and even original vocals from the famous incomplete demo with original vocals via AI masking. Very nice work all around.

Can't tell you the joy and exhilaration this brings to me...! I had the shorter version of "Walk On By" on a CD, and now you've completed it. Wow! Also, "Are You There", a favorite by Dionne Warwick from 1966. A favorite of mine when I was in eighth grade. A modest-sized hit for her at the time, but, still, quality all the way.
The idea was suggested to have Brian Wilson do an entire album of Burt Bacharach songs. Two great artists. I would love to have that album.

I've only recently discovered your work from someone else uploading one of your now removed songs. This last week I've had these 3 songs on this channel on constant repeat. There's no words to describe how magical these tracks are. AI is only a tool, but the emotion and love you put into these tracks comes through heavily. I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to discover them. This is exactly what it would feel like to suddenly find a finished and polished unreleased track from Brian's genius years. These are stunning achievements. I cannot wait to hear what else you gift us.
I'm not a fan of AI vocals, the internet is flooded with stuff like Freddie Mercury singing Celine Dion or Michael Jackson songs. In this case, though, as with the fantastic Smile project, Dae Lims manages to pick up unfinished work and put his own creative spin (but also based on well put together research) and singing voice into the mix, which really takes it to a whole new level. For me this is an example of AI technology used in a creative way which is actually adding something fundamental to the material.
I absolutely love the harmonies in the final part, also it's great to hear Al take the lead there, it fits so perfectly!

Wow, I am absolutely blown away by this Beach Boys AI song! The level of creativity behind this piece is mind-boggling. The way the AI captures the essence of the Beach Boys' signature harmonies is just incredible.
To be honest, the skill of the performer is a huge part of that. There's a real singer behind this, and he's doing some amazing stuff just as much as the ai is!!

Wonderful work! I think the Beach Boys of the late 60's had a lot of vision that they couldn't express at the time for various reasons, and you perfectly complemented that.

I think I've listened to this about 12 times in the last 24 hours. Hands down my favorite AI Beach Boys thing yet. It's so weird dreaming of the potential of all of these studio outtakes for decades and then to have something that manifests that potential that was only dreamed about.
