@Jacob Sergio Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Makes me want to find my dad’s linesman pliers now. Excellent job sir! Quick Update: I found three pair. Large, medium and small. The medium were stamped “M Klein” with a another stamp “Chicago USA” on the other side. He worked for the Bell 🔔 System for 40 years!
There is nothing like boxes of free tools! It makes you wonder how they could manufacture and finish tools so nicely and still sell them affordably. You’re hard pressed to find something comparable today. I think the closest you can get to these old pliers and hand tools is Channellock, but even then their fit and finish has gone down a lot. Utica, Kraeuter, Klein, etc all made such beautiful tools. Beautiful work! I can’t imagine how nice they feel in the hand. Looking forward to the treasure trove of restorations to come!
Very nice haul. Your doing a very nice thing for him. I am sure he will treasure it. I also enjoy talking to the older generation. I can still learn from them. Although l am getting old enough to be one of them. My son is that way to. Before covid we would go to auctions and he has some old farmers that he gets with and asks questions about tools. Good times. Stay safe and healthy my friend. Thanks
So kind of you to gift those beautiful pliers back to the man that’s been so generous with his dad’s ok’d tool. Ihave a similar pair of those Craftsman pliers. They are so cool with the embellished handles. Great job. Finally, got a barn lantern restoration video of a Embury Air Pilot, it was a challenge.
Wow what a great hall of tools scout congrats Love the pliers they came up great I found it really interesting That they had put black in the handle great contrast great Video god bless take care 👍👏🗽🙏🇺🇸🇳🇿
You’re a good guy John. I’m sure Tony is going to be very pleased to see the awesome job you did on his father’s set of pliers. It would be really great if you could do a video of you presenting these to him. I’d love to see the look on his face when he sees the outstanding job you did on these pliers. Thanks again for the video mate. Take care.
That will be a nice return gift to Tony for all the boxes of goodies! I’m sure he will appreciate it and admire your handiwork! Have a great week John. 😀👍
Wow, just wow. Really generous gift but going to the right person who can bring these tools back from the dead. The brace bits looked fantastic. Your windfall is well deserved.
CZcams algorithms are killing me I do not get updates to important channels especially yours I enjoy your content to inspires me to make the best of my day
One nice thing about going out of town for a week is coming home to 3 Scoutcrafter videos! I look forward to each and every one, and I wait patiently for them to be posted. But THREE!!! Sensory overload.
That is so cool to get those tools from Tony and Renee! With the passing of my mom now and step dad in the past, I got ahold of some tools to play with. A few electronics too. Got a nice older true RMS Fluke meter. It powers on just needs new leads. Also a nice little Weller pen torch/soldering propane soldering pen. Good stuff, get a video of presenting them to him. Those pliers turned out beautiful! I am always impressed with your flap wheel talent, I could never get things that nice! I do practice on old railroad spikes.
Beautiful Job!!!! You're such an amazing person. Im sure glad Tony gave you those Wonderful Treasures! I admire you such much, you're such a kind, Caring, Just a Beautiful personality! I wish you could shoot a quick video of you giving The pliers to Tony. Im sure hes really going to treasure those plus they're sentimental so he will treasure them even more. Take care my friend.
@@ScoutCrafter same here! I Love the idea of someone taking the time out of their busy day to make something for someone. Take care buddy, have wonderful afternoon.
Very nice gesture to Tony. He will be very appreciative. That is a wonderful batch of tools he gave you. Many treasures to be discovered. You're a very nice guy. Regards
That was so cool to see what those pliers looked like under the tape. It was like going back in time in a time machine. I never would have thought they ever painted inside the handle engravings. That blew me away. Thanks for the time capsule video!
Wow you hit the Jackpot with all that stuff and what a great deal on that Monarch lantern too they have really gone up so much in price the past couple years and surprisingly you got that at an antique store that’s tremendous also super great job on those pliers I can’t wait to see the presentation plaque I’m sure it’s gonna be awesome when he gets them.
Hey John, Great video! My father is is 72 but in very poor health. I will clean up a pair of pliers for gifts for him. He likes to hold the tools. He has a good collection in his top dresser drawer. Thanks!
Beautiful restoration john! If Tony is any kind of a tool guy, he will appreciate your efforts! Looking forward to see what you come up with for friday. Roger
So much I'd like to comment on. I get the impression you get along quite well with people older then you. I've always had and still have that most of the time. Have got no clue why, but it does make me feel kind of an outcast among my peers sometimes. The pliers look great, fantastic video John, thanks!!
Alex not only do I feel I was born 60 years too late but I always got along with older people ever since I was a kid because most of my hobbies were hobbies that older people were involved in! By the time I was 18 years old I had nothing in common with my peers... 😂👍
That’s funny, I would have sworn that not too long ago, you said you were not going to buy any more tools! LOL! LOL! LOL! You dog you! Like a duck saying he will no longer swim in the pond! Yeah, right! Keep em coming my friend, you know we love it!
Lloyd I should be in a 12 step program because I am bad when it comes to buying tools. The funny thing is I am much better because I used to go to the tractor shows and flea markets and bring home a box full of tools now I only bring home a handful so I am getting better! 😂😂😂👍
LOL! You know I love it! My girlfriend just commented.... “ we’ve all got our weaknesses!” LOL! All in fun, John, you make our world better and we appreciate it!
WOW! What a score. Quick story: I tried to use your 1x30 sander with a stick method to restore my fathers meat cleaver...came out like ocean waves. I resorted to my body work experience to make it right. Moral of the story: Not everyone can be Scout Crafter :) You da man!
It’s true the stick method sometimes is difficult to use on large flat surfaces I find it really comes in handy for manipulating the bell to get into certain areas that normally the flat belt would skip over. For example when I was doing the face of the pliers in order to flatten out the entire face I use the stick and up-and-down motion and it really works well. However every once in a while sometimes the stick will leave slight marks on a tool it’s not for every job that’s for sure. Thanks so much! 😃👍
That red-handled push drill that was in the box of tools... My dad literally just gave me that EXACT tool on Thanksgiving. It belonged to my grandfather. I might wait to see what you do with it before I attempt mine (no pressure, haha). Great job on the pliers, like everything else you do. Love the videos, never miss one, I learn so much! Thank you, and keep it up!
Just thought I’d let you know. Yesterday I bought an old King Dick shifter. It was frozen. I made up a small amount of 50/50. It worked like a charm. Of course I wasn’t stingy with it. Thanks for your help. Really appreciate the tips I’ve gotten from watching your channel.
What a score, John! I bet you were filling up as you looked through that stash - can't wait to see the reveal on Friday! Thanks for sharing your passion with us!
Fantastic, i can't wait until friday , the pliers came out better than new , tony is going to change his mind and request his tools back when he sees how they are coming out
Love the aluminum pipe wrench! I’ve had a 24” aluminum pipe wrench since the ‘70s. I used it often I’m my work as a compressed air specialist. The brand name was Schick. That’s tight, the razor manufacturer. During the Viet Nam war the government ordered Schick to manufacture aluminum helicopter blades. After the war they had a bunch of special aluminum left over & they decided to make tools. They made pipe wrenches and adjustable (crescent) wrenches. I bought the pipe wrench & an 18” adjustable wrench. The adjustable wrench didn’t last long. I broke the stationary jaw off using a cheater pipe on the handle. DUMB. I still have the pipe wrench though. THe handle is beat up from hammers though. Despite that it still works as designed. One of my favorite tools.
Those pliers look great now. My grandfather was an electrician and he gave me a one of his old lineman pliers and of course the handles weren't insulated. Well I'm glad I used my newer ones with the insulated handles because I removed the wrong fuse from the circuit and cut into a hot wire . It blew out a notch in the cutters and splattered molten copper on my eyeglasses but at least I wasn't shocked. Needless to say I test a circuit to make sure it's dead now.
Hi Jeff. Believe it or not the electrical tape isn’t rated for much voltage at all. When you buy a pair of truly insulated pliers they usually come with a rating of what the pliers are good for voltage wise. I have a pair of Gedore pliers that are good for like 1000 V! The insulated handles are amazing on those. Thanks! 😃👍
That craftsman plier is identical to one I lost while on a motorcycle trip but mine had a dipped handle. I recommend that you get a deburring belt for your sander. They are made of that green rough material that comes on scruffy sponges.
It's always nice to save tools for family and friends tools! I love that little tap handle! I've got some lamps that I want to restore, they just seem daunting!
That cast iron corner brace in box no 3 is pretty nice! And it turns out that "ratcheting screwdriver" that I had in my collection is actually a Spiralux Push Drill! who knew!? Now I just have to find some old screwdrivers that are too far gone that I can cut down into drill and driver bits! That set of pliers looks too pretty!
I still haven’t gone through the boxes to see the tools I film that footage when I came home at night and I was bringing the boxes into the house I was too tired but I’m excited to see what I got! 😃👍
Congratulations on your 'tool haul' - all of them... Those bits are a crowd stopper - wow, what a find.. Still looking forward to your HAM Radio/Morse Code video. . Michael from Canada
That spokeshave is a Stanley number 67. It came with two replaceable soles. One round and one flat. I have one but only with the round bottom. So if you find a little piece of metal in the box it could be the extra sole!
Alot of electricians use the lineman pliers to bang in staples for securing cables as well as nails for holding boxes. Also they'll be used with a screwdriver as a chisel banging out knockouts for boxes or chiseling wood and concrete to run cables and conduit. I know unfortunately thats how I learned and continue to do till this day lol. You probably wouldn't want any of my pliers haha.
LOL Rob- We all have our "user" tools that we can slightly abuse without guilt. I just hate to get a nice older pair that was somebody's users back in the day! LOL Thanks!!!!!
Good afternoon.. I thought for sure you were going to need another Band Aid, after removing that 70 year old electrical tape.... So glad I was mistaken...Beautiful job on that Craftsman......James
Growing up with Craftsman Tools around the house I can't help but Love those Pliers...........I see a Roto Stripper Drill Attachment in the box, if you ever have to remove some powder coat give it a try, I found it's one of the few things that takes it right off without making a Gummy Mess......2 Bucks for a Craftsman Hammer with that beautiful handle is a steal.
See the lineman's restored bring back a thought, I returned several older Craftsman tools to Sears for replacement. They were exchanged, boy I was surprised at the junk I got back, of course made in China.

I gotta binge watch these videos.
Great job, and nice to see a Craftsman lineman pliers. Cheers !

Right on John! Those Craftsman pliers! 🤩 I really like those sets of brace bits you got there too! 👍🏼
I worked for Sears many years ago, in the tool section.
The linesman pliers were made by m klein and sons tools.
That was 50 years ago.
Thanks! Klein are the best pliers made in my opinion...

Yes they are!! It’s hard to clean out those grooves but I know you can do it!

That's a very nice tribute John. Well done.
A shadow box would be an excellent way to present it
Real kewl of u M.t.A John.
Hope he likes the lineman plyers.
Love how you do the linesman pliers, it's been cold here in the UK for a month already!
How great...no doubt Tony will be thrilled. Can't wait till Friday. Cheers

Looks amazing 😍
See the lineman's restored bring back a thought, I returned several older Craftsman tools to Sears for replacement. They were exchanged, boy I was surprised at the junk I got back, of course made in China.
Great looking pliers. I saw an old radial file and a large rasp in the box. Those would be a good project.
thank you Scoutcrafter! It was like an archaeological dig going under that electrical tape.
That was so satisfying wasn’t it?! 😃👍
Love some shop time on a cold day
Nice job, and great deal on the “hot blast” lantern
Rob- I’ll buy them all day at $15 a pop! 😃👍
Great Job!
