After making more than 100 Dorset Buttons, this is the quickest and easiest way, I have found to make them.

After graduating from Parsons School of Design, I began my career in fashion design and freelanced both in New York City, as well as London. I designed hand knits for Elle Magazine and was the editor of the Hand Knit Page before hand knits fell out of fashion in the early 1990's and the page was discontinued. In 2008 I launched my jewelry design business, designing fine jewelry in 18 & 20 Kt Gold with gemstones that I hand select for each piece. Several awards and numerous write ups & interviews in all kinds of magazines and online zines, I rediscovered hand stitching and my life took another turn. I have been designing in some form since I sold my first felt embroidered xmas tree ornaments to a small shop in Northern California when I was 16 years old, and have never looked back. And while I've had detours along the way: had two children, worked at an advertising agency, got into acting in my early 20's, published some articles for various magazines and wrote for the Huffington Post for a few years, I have always come back to designing. It is my first love and remains so to this day.

So beautiful 😍
Thank you so much Brigitte! ❤️
You are absolutely the best!!! Thank you soooo much for not taking down these videos. My husband and his dementia interrupt me too many times to sit and stitch with you. I relish in “our times together”.
Aw.. thank you so much Karen. And thank you for watching when you're able to. That makes me happy. ❤️
Another great tut! You show every detail and it’s easy to follow. Thanks!😊
I’m so glad you think so. ❤️
Your Dorset buttons are beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Aw, you’re welcome. ❤️💕❤️
I’m left-handed also and I’m so grateful for your left-handed methods!!
Oh I'm so glad Carrie. ❤️
Wonderful video, and although I’m right handed glad you do this for left handers
❤️
Another wonderful demonstration. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent
Thanks so much Pam. ❤️💕❤️
Які чудові ідеї, а я все думала, куди можна прилаштувати ці ґудзики. Лайк)
They are SO much fun to make and use on all kinds of things. Play and let me know how it goes!!
Can’t wait for your advanced class.
Yay! Wednesday. Sending out the link tomorrow am.
I love this video. I have just found Dorset buttons after years of stitching and I am in love with them. Looking forward to watching your other videos.
I'm so glad. They are a little addictive!
Just FAB!!!!
Thank you!!
Thank you for being so helpful and left handed! Just found your channel!
I'm so glad you're here! Welcome. ❤️
Thank you. Iove that glass cases..so pretty 😍
Thank you Hui. I'm so glad you think so. I do love it. ❤️
I love this video as a Dorset button beginning. Thank you! I am also left handed, somewhat ambidextrous-small motor left and large motor right generally but scissors right-handed as you.
It seems like most left-handers are a bit ambidextrous, maybe by necessity!
Ooh i love your tree buttons!! Do you have an online workshop I could take to learn how to do those beauties?! 😊
Hi Carrie - I did a number of them, but haven't scheduled anything for the upcoming year. There's been a lot of upheaval lately. Will definitely post a video when and if I do another. ❤️
I didn’t realize this had a right or left hand way about it. I’m right handed, but sometimes I start off going left and just keep on going.
After I found your videos a couple of days ago I started wrapping and realized I’ve made these before!
I wrapped some big metal washers to make a pendant for a necklace. I didn’t know it was a thing to make. Can’t wait to try some of those extra stitches around the edges. Jan
Wonderful!!
Very nice 👌
❤️
Looking forward to the pattern for the glass case and scissor case using Dorset Buttons!
Thx Cheryl. I plan to do a workshop for each. Hoping to have that up and running by the summer. How's your hand/wrist/arm?
@@ArianeZurcher212 thank you for asking. I have mild carpal tunnel and severe stenosis in my neck that is causing weakness. Will be getting injections in my neck and continuing PT. Hope that will solve this. It is getting a tad depressing.
@@cherylquilter6853 Oh Cheryl, I think of you daily. Seriously. It's got to be so frustrating and so, so difficult. I'm hoping all of this helps. You're in my thoughts. ❤️
@@ArianeZurcher212 you are so sweet!
I am smitten.
Aw... thank you so much. Those Dorset Buttons are SO much fun.
again, is there any books that you have printed or any books that you can recommend for us purchased so we can get an idea as to what we’re doing. I do think your videos are excellent and I havd referred to them numerous times
Thx so much Norma. I don’t have any books I’m afraid.
Do you have a book on this process?
I don’t. Just the videos. ❤️
Is there a way to search for specific videos other than just scrolling through all of the videos?
Yes, put the topic you’re looking for and my name in the search window and anything I’ve done on that topic will pop up.
Enjoying this but up to now 4 adverts which is annoying x
Hi Loueen, yes, it really is annoying. However CZcams is now putting more and more ads on all channels, and making it trickier for us creators to manage them. You either have ads or you opt not to and now, as of 2020 CZcams puts ads even on those channels that opt out of ads. As I already spend 4-6 hours and often much more than that creating a video such as this one, to then spend more time fiddling around with the ads and trying to manually adjust them so that there is only one at the beginning, middle and end requires my spending time when I would like to do other things, like make more videos. So for now, they will have to be whatever CZcams decides. The only other option is to create a subscription based youtube channel, which I've been trying to avoid, however I may have to consider, if more and more people complain. I'd rather make content that everyone can access no matter their income level. 😟
Well I just spent the last hour doing some research on all of this and went to "manage" the monetization on my videos. This video had EIGHT ads on it. EIGHT! That's just insane. Evidently CZcams is now putting ads on every couple of minutes. This is enough to drive anyone completely nuts. So I've reduced to three and will see what happens. I also read that youtube is arbitrarily putting more ads on some people's channels and leaving others alone. Not clear why. I'll keep monitoring and see how it goes. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention though. ❤️
