Best thing about the quarantine is that I have more time finding awesome channel - like this! Please keep up the great content about ants!! Subscribed!
I came here from seeing them in my garden and got stung by one so here we are. I'm from South America not North so u can only watch only them in video 😂😂 while I have them in my garden and can see them irl every day.
Only just found you channel, awesome stuff mate! I am now binge watching your videos. It would be great to get a video on how you build your ants farms and how you successfully keep your ants etc.
It is amazing that most of the clips about trap-jaw ants on this platform have come from this single video. Thank you for giving us these beautiful clips which other creators have used to create similarly great videos.
Awesome. I wish there were some Videos like this for some of the Other Types of Trap-Jaw Ants. There is this one type I really like. It has really Long mandibles, with spikes near the end of the mandibles. And the ant is red and small enough to make it's nests in Twigs.
In Colombia he have a kind of ant like this, but it had wings, I don’t know if it is the same kind, but I hated them because they loved to hang around the shower in my house and they were super agresive, they will pretty much attack immediately and their sting was very painful.
Since I was a kid I always found all kinds of insects truly amazing and still do to this day that is a really unique ant there is a game I play called empires of the undergrowth highly recommend doesn't have that ant in there but still a great game any way more to the point I never heard of this type truly amazing.
Whiskers. They have actual whiskers. I keep saying that ants are really nothing more than very tiny, very complex cats. Constantly licking and cleaning themselves and everything else in sight. Washing their faces. Going out to hunt, then bringing prey back for the babies. They even live in colonies like cats do. Their breeding females are called 'queens,' just like cats. (Edit: They can also fall from insane heights and not get hurt.) There. I said it. Ants are little cats. And yes. I'm prepared to die on this hill. Call the boys, "Toms" and the larvae 'kits' and then we'll complete the circle. (Do it, science. Do it, do it...)
I recently found a colony of these nesting at the base of a sago palm in my yard. What should i do with them? I need to prune the palm and im not sure if I should get rid of the ants or try not to disturb them as much as possible. Are they beneficial?
They are not a pest species for humans, their colonies don’t grow that big either. I wouldn’t worry about them. If you disturb their nesting site enough, they’ll like move on their own. But they are cool ants to have around! Consider yourself lucky!
Those ants falling must be like: ah just another day in the **SNAP!** park.
Really enjoy these videos about ant biology :D Super informal, and interesting to watch.
Trap-jaw ants: I wish to do rocket jumping IRL
Glad to find a Gronenberg paper I was not familiar with yet!

Very nice! if I ever had a trap jaw colony I'd have to resist the urge to constantly be dripping them to watch them snap jump.
