  • This video outlines the process of having an MRI at UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry, Dublin.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) produces detailed images of the structures inside the body. As the name suggests, it uses strong magnets to produce the images.
MRI is very safe. There are no health risks associated with the magnetic field or the radio waves used by the machine, and no side effects have been reported.
UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic is the only centre in Ireland with three dedicated clinical 3.0 Tesla MRI scanners, which deliver superior image resolution and quality. These scanners support a centre of excellence in the assessment and treatment of Musculoskeletal pathology and general imaging.
In addition to the three MRI scanners, the Radiology Department at UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic includes cutting-edge diagnostic equipment such as a CT scanner (with ASiR technology), Ultrasound, DEXA, OPG, Digital X-ray and Screening Digital X-ray.
All related image-guided therapeutic interventions, such as targeted joint injections and spinal interventions, are supported.
