Amaterasu, susanno, and Tsukuyomi likely grew up without a mother. The sacred weaver of the sun goddess was most likely a mother figure to Amaterasu. Susanno likely knows how dearly Amaterasu loved her sacred weaver. She didn’t enter the cave willingly. She did it because Susanoo gave her PTSD.

I really like how Susano'o's character design here takes a lot of inspiration from the art style of Saint Seiya, as well as a little of Hokuto no Ken.

Yeah, though nice story telling he got some information wrong such as susanoo being the son of izanami cause susanoo, amaterasu and tsukiyomi were born from izanagi when he mourned for his wife who was trapped in the under world. Seems like this guy is using information from nihon shouki, he should have used the older reference wich is Kojiki, nihon shouki is the second oldest sure but Kojiki is THE oldest. Oh well still a great story, in Kojiki amaterasu and her brother Tsukiyomi are born from the tears of izanagi one from both eyes (reference to the sun and moon) and Susanoo is born from izanagi's nose... Yeah the nose.
Btw susanoo was never cast out from the house of kami nor was he forced to cut his hair or beard. Though susanoo did go on a journey to redeem himself thus leading him to face orochi. By the way the kusanagi wasn't called kusanagi until a samurai renamed it such, the kusanagi had a longer harder to say name wich is Ane-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi.

A lot of the times, you referred to Susanoo as "her" and "her sister", so I was a bit confused. lol interesting nonetheless and it also had very pretty art!
That is culture. I like this version more, its the version of Kojiki, which is a way more colourful and friendly. The Nihon Shoki instead is the more factual one. I recomend to those who are loving this kind of things to take a look on that story too. Thank you for animating this.

Amaterasu was far more disciplined, mature, and levelheaded than her brother Susanoo. The storm god is the most arrogant, stubborn, and hotheaded of all Izanagi’s children, this makes him a better fighter than Amaterasu, but not a better leader. That is why she became ruler of the heavens.
and it can be related to the archetype of rulers that are related to birds of prey and sun, it's about sight and paying attention over the structure/culture and who can watch it over better (ya know, from leadership positions of those who "oversee" and when you're told by higher ranking or older people to "watch over" someone or something when it is being put to your care, keeping them alive and well like a parent does).

I think when I read this story, it said her brother let water in to drown her sacred rice field, pooped under her throne, and killed her sacred horse. Not sure if it had the part about the roof and the weavers. Could have.

Pretty much. The sword he gives Amaterasu is called Grasscutter in English. It's considered the ancestral sword of Japan.

I’m not sure if this is true for Susanoo specifically but their are some Japanese Gods that don’t have a consistent gender. By that I mean in some stories they may be a God and in a different story they may be a Goddess. From story to story, myth to myth, some of their Deities don’t have a concrete gender because essentially no one could agree on some of them.
