    • @steffen12
      @steffen12 Před 2 lety +9

      @@tysonmarcus9231 it actually does. If the batteries are connected in parallel, for the same load you reduce the current/C-rate for each battery. And the capacity depends on the C-Rate! Therefore the Capacity (for the same load) should be lower with only one battery.

      @steffen12 Před 2 lety +1

      @@slayer66thfc In an articel about the system they said the batteries are connected in parallel. On a system level this would be the best, bc. the inververter always works in the same voltage level. If they were connected in Series the AC-DC would need to handle variable voltages. And for you mentioned type, they would need some kind of additional control mechanism (HW+SW). So i guess parallel it is.

    Maybe you should try with just one battery. My theory is that with 2 batteries it might be splitting the load output between them and not having to cool the pack so much. Warm inverter might also generate some losses. I don't think that's enough to account for the almost 15% difference in your results but it should at least allow us to uncheck that hypothesis. Otherwise, it might be just a bad battery he got, I guess

  • @aarravoltics4592
    @aarravoltics4592 Před 2 lety +12

    Did you discharge the battery using a resistive load or inductive load? The variation in results could be because of change in Power Factor of your test and Hobotech's.
    The power meter might give different results if the power factor is different and it might have measured the apparent power and not real power.

    I have the same meter, and I have found it to be very accurate as well. Like you mentioned, retaining memory makes it more useful, and it is about $2 cheaper than the Kill-a-Watt that doesn't retain the memory. Maybe Tom has a battery with a bad cell? I don't know, but the results you got were very believable.

      @NeverTakeNoShortcuts Před 2 lety +1

      @@HolgerNestmann I bought a Ac200P too. As you say ok-ish. When you look at this crowdfunded model with fast release cycles, purchasers like us are funding their product development cost. Only we can decide if that's a good value for us. For some people, they have to have the latest bells and whistles, even if there are fundamental issues (like efficiency, for instance). I would just caution that the 20% discount shine wears off pretty quickly if the device has serious defects..

    I just got my Bluetti AC200P on Aug. 31st. It is not reading wattage correctly amoung other things. Max Oak has just been giving me the run around. They keep having me make videos of the issues. Sometimes it will not show that there is any wattage being dispersed and when it does show wattage when I use more wattage it says that I am using less. I was very excited about getting one of these and when I seen that it was messed up I just thought " no big deal, they will just have to replace it."

    Recently found your channel and subscribed to better understand how to get the best bang per buck with solar. Hoping you'll run some fictional systems (high, medium, and low cost) that you'd put into a long distance sailboat. Chargers with bluetooth monitoring appear to be best since equipment needs to be stored in lockers devoted to dryness, and other such constraints like sail shadow will limit the amount of power available. I'm researching for a 30 foot (that's on the small end) retirement boat I hope to purchase and outfit in about a year from now. Best wishes!

    I am making sure I understand the whole process before buying anything. I have a house that uses 22.5kwh/day. I want to create a Grid Tie system that runs off grid as much as possible. For batteries it looks like I need 10x 24v 100mah batteries. My house is in the midwest so assume 4 hours of sun a day and that means 6kwh of solar panels or 9x 360watt 24v. Totals about $4k for batteries and $4k for panels. At 1st I was sure it was Hobotech, especially since he admitted he was in a mental fog from no sleep due to working on vlog 30 hrs b4 uploading. His 7am claim really screwed with my mind. But now that he said that he ran the test 4 times, logic dictates it had to be the updated firmware.
    I ordered my bundle pkg. from Hobotech cuz he uploaded 3 hrs b4 (7am, haha) gave me time to soak in his video. I also love that he is more detailed in his reviews than Will. Although I am still waiting to get details on how precisely to use that 24V Cigarette lighter port. (But still, I came here to get Wills' take on it) These 2 guys compliment each other very well. I hope to get a 3rd AC300 with more B300s' soon.

    I don't think the firmware is backwards compatible. So many possibilities of error and the only way is to re-run tests. It sucks but there's no other way. It can be firmware issues, firmware coding error, hardware and software link issues or just plain and simple faulty hardware and the list goes on.

    Really interesting. Key thing this taught me again is the differentce between Will's raw batter tests where he's measuring at the battery vs. measuring on the AC side at the charger AC plug or the inverter AC plug. Really different looking results by measuring different places.
    Also if you're being friendly with your battery and not going all the way to dead flat 0% you gotta chop that capacity off for your expectation. The review video shows you can set those numbers in the Bluetti which is a neat feature.

But I like the 10 year warranty and the redundant cylindrical cell architecture. Will's tear-down video of the Battle Born 12V/100Ah unit convinced me that it was a good way to go.

    Have you ever tried getting a calibrated watt meter? I worry that the off the shelf ones may be iffy. On the other hand, as long as all tests are done with the same meter, then at least it’s apples to apples, even if the final numbers may not be “accurate”. While they may have an accuracy of 0.1 watts, there is a huge difference between accuracy and precision.
    A good thing to try would be test the same battery with each of your meters.
    Generally,multimeters are “good enough “, especially with Fluke and similar name brands. But some low shelf plug in watt meter, that is not at all guaranteed.

      Yeah, I also caught that. The inclusion of a standard sized cigarette lighter port that ouputs 24V was an odd choice for Bluetti. I envision a lot of people who don't read manuals very carefully (or at all) will plug 12V devices into this port and fry them fairly quickly.
