    It's in the name. Street Fighter should make you feel like you're in the streets. Street fighting is an illegal sport, and the only people doing it within the world of Street Fighter are hermits, hoodlums, weirdos, fanatics, rogue paramilitary soldiers, and elites operating in the shadows. They're either people who don't fit in with society or people who twist society to their own ends. 3rd Strike is amazing because it understands that core concept and nails it aesthetically while also delivering on complex and interesting gameplay.

    The simplest solutions are often the strongest. I still don't understand why the 3S universal parry mechanic did not become a SF staple in SF4 and SF5 (in which only a few characters can parry). It literally elaborated on defense mechanics in the simplest way possible. Hold back to turtle, or tap forward at the right time to create your own opening. It's such a simple and genius way to allow game knowledge to level the playing field at high levels of play no matter what tier your character may be.

    • @ILoveToEatRed40
      @ILoveToEatRed40 Před 2 lety +54

      Same reason as why focus and v shift won’t return in later installments. Parrying gives 3rd strike a uniqueness exclusive that game. I think it’s great what they did in five by giving it to only ryu or how tekken 7 and smash gave the shotos focus. Street fighter innovates and the mechanic they implement should service the game

    • @lit_wick

      Check out bbtag and granblue. Both have universal overheads.

    • @markalexander6036
      @markalexander6036 Před 2 lety +41

      Capcom may not be keen on bringing back parrying because it negates certain character arechetypes entirely. The fireball zoner is one of the greatest legacies of Street Fighter and it really can't exist in the same space as a Third Strike parry.
      Maybe they could bring back parrying in Street Fighter by nerfing it closer to CvS2. However, would a nerfed parry be giving people what they want or just setting them up for dissappointment? Maybe it could work. I think it would be cool if Capcom revisited a universal parry for Street Fighter 6 but changed it up a little so its more balanced.
      Keep in mind, parrying is so strong in Third Strike that it forces the players to strategize around it. A somewhat abusable tactic in Third Strike is to tap parry and immediately return to block in order to option select a footsies interaction.
      Parrying doesn't neccesarily even the playing field on the tierlist either. Top/high tiers are generally better at playing around parry than mid/low/bottom tiers.

    • @Shodan130
      @Shodan130 Před 2 lety +9

      because while parry is a good mechanic. alot of SF heads HATE it. i respect parry and i think it's cool. but i hate playing 3s because of parry. it does too much to bring the game away from the things alot of people love about street fighter and takes away from the fundamental core (personally) that other SF games have. personally i love a3 and ST and if those games had parry i probably would not of liked them. in saying that 3s needs parry as the game would be stupid busted without it

    The SF3 vibe is the most "street" street fighter. The hip-hop music is so good for a videogame-it actually sounds authentic. Hip-hop with video games lyrics usually sounds cheesy. I hope they bring some of that back to SF6.
    I think the parry mechanic would be so sick in SF6, plus the toning down of projectile invincible moves. They just need to remove air parry and have parry deal some recoverable damage like focus absorb.

    To fight Q
    - Can't lose any rounds Q should appear after you finish Stage 7.
    - Not continue. You're not supposed to lose rounds
    - Get a grade D or better grade on every stage.
    - Get 2 or more "Special Points." You get these from getting better grades each match.
    - Get more than 5 Super Art Finishes. If you change the maximum rounds in a match, this condition's formula is basically: [Number of Max Rounds in Each Match + 2 Super Art Finishes = Condition Met] For example, if you set the matches to end after one round, you would need to use 3 Super Art Finishes throughout the game.

So it gives off the impression that we are MANY years since Street Fighter II. Leaving questions like what happened to them and the imagination of me as as 12 year old went wild. I love 3rd Strike. One thing I particulary love is how easy to understand as a beginner it is. I have friends that were SF2 players and very occasional players since then. They didn't quite get focus attacks in SFIV, were totally lost by V Skills / triggers in SFV, and SFVI won't be better with the Drive gauge to manage. But SF3.3 was easy to apprehend. Even the forward input to parry made sense. Back for turtle defense, forward for "agressive defense", everybody would get it immediatly but then the curve to git gut was gigantic. When my buddies come over I don't bother putting SF V on anymore, I just go with 3.3 and we're having a blast.
