I was a young man living in Atlanta in the best time frame in it's history, the 1990s. The Braves started to rise up, Holyfield was the champ, we got the olympics, Georgia Tech won the Nats in football, Lethal Weapon 3, and the baseball team was stacked and when to the College WS. I went to my first NBA game and saw Jordan dunk on three people and still got the newspaper clip to prove it. The Falcons went to a black jersey and they drafted Neon Deion.
Man, I was a BIG Sanders fan! I remember when he held out and finally signed his contract.That night he was casually hanging out, low key, blending with the crowd at Dominque Wilkin's bar in Midtown. No one bugged him, except me, and even that was real short.
My first NFL game was the Falcons vs the Bills and Deion returned a punt for a touchdown! And shit Jim Kelly was throwing laser beams! Then, when I was working downtown, we would go outside for lunch. We would hear people play their music loud as they drive by. One day we look up and there is Deion driving by in a convertible bumping the music, nodding his head to the beat, driving down Peachtree.I also remember he got into the club scene with Club 21. Man that place was cool! I enjoyed everything about that dude! He always cracked me up with the Prime Time act, but to see him in person run or the anticipation of a Deion punt return, it was Vick before Vick in Atlanta! HE BACKED HIS SHIT UP! I will always be a big fan of 21!
