@@khushboosingh-gh1jxmaybe you do it when you aren’t realizing it? It might not be in sit down conversation but maybe when you both are using each others love language. I’m just trying to help your partner out. lol
also, I believe second language relationships (for a lack of a better term) have a different, more puppy love like chemistry. It’s super interesting to me.
You can curate how that person sees you. You won’t have past experiences to lean upon because that person is culturally different than the people you grew up around.
They can never fully understand your past experiences and vice versa. Which is probably not great for longevity however not being able to compare them 1 to 1 your exes probably makes the health of the relationship a lot stronger.
If it takes two years to hear every story your same native language partner has, it’ll probably take quadruple the time in a second language relationship before you can finish the story for them.

Once upon a time I was living in a hostel in Melbourne city, I'm Australian myself so I'd help travellers to find work. I met a big rough construction boss who asked me "If you've got any Germans or Dutch, send them my way for construction work." I said to him "Sure. I've also got a team of Spanish and an Argentinian looking for work too." He turned to me, looked straight into my soul and said "I said Germans and Dutch mate! I'm not f*cking interested in lazy f*ckers, I need workers!"
Germans are so good, I got the young fellers to fix my bike gears and do odd maintenance jobs around the hostel. They're literally the nicest people in the world

It may be interesting to note that many Germans come to visit Thailand. I must say they are generally well-behaved and very polite, though sometimes they seem a bit aggressive, probably because of their accent. We had our civil wedding also in August, but in 2022 so post Brexit. Probably wasn't very different to before though, all the paperwork, translations, official stamps sound annoyingly similar, I feel the pain you had to go through back then :D We had our church wedding exactly 1 year later and had so many english guests come over. It was so much fun to see all these foreign people mingling and having some English and some German traditions as part of the wedding. So excited for you to finally get your big party, I'm sure it'll be such a great day, enjoy every minute of it!!! x

It was interesting that Valerie's challenges she spoke about here are the same my German partner experiences of me. Loving the video podcast. I'd like a video talking about any challenges with communication as a German English couple. For example, bringing up challenging topics- is it harder for an English person to confront issues/easier for a German, are there challenges with how these things are communicated-for example does one person experience more sensitivity when being confronted than the other... and how do you manage these differences. ❤

So interesting to hear the wedding traditions of both Germany and England compared to the US. In the US there is no distinction between civil and religious wedding. If you are married in a church, that’s it. If you are married in the courthouse, that’s it. Either way You are married in the eyes of the state. We had open bars at both of my daughters’ weddings. Common but not everyone does it. It’s expensive. Most venues won’t go past 11:00 pm for the reception but there is no hard and fast rule with that. Congrats to you both

Hi, if possible please do some german language lessons. I'm learning german at the moment on duolingo and going to Linz, Austria for the first time in around 2 weeks. I have a friend from the UK who moved there around 6 years ago, after the brexit vote and in time to be able to stay there without the 90 day rule... Still good anyways to view your channel and see funny comparisons between Germany and Austria and between Germany and the UK. Thanks

Wait - people pay for drinks on a wedding in the UK? Wow, never heard of that.
In the Netherlands the couple pays for the drinks. An end time however is common, ussually at 12 or 1 o'clock. Ussually they will serve a coffee and a sandwich or fries or some other food after the party is done. I think that long enough also - since ussually you start around noon.

What is the problem with Deutsche Bahn? Is it not always reliable?

Deutsche Bahn was never really well maintained at one point, because the government wanted to save tax money on other things. It’s to the point now, where the deutsche Bahn (which was known for being punctual on the second like a true German) became a joke. The tracks and trains are in bad shape and lots of tracks need to be fixed or routes need to be changed because of that. In short the government did a bad decision, and no other government after it, decided it was worth it to revamp the current Deutsche Bahn. And now it stays exactly the way Liam described. I’ve used Deutsche Bahn for half a year on a daily basis for hour long train rides. I can confirm what Liam said is 100% accurate

Thank you for the explanation. That is very sad to hear, because Germany has always had a reputation for investing money in public transport. I live in London and Munich is my favourite city in Germany. For environmental reasons I would like to travel to from London to Munich by train, but hearing this puts me off using Deutsche Bahn.

@@jasonsubhan8479 dont misunderstand, if you use it not too often, its not that bad. And in cities public transport is mint. On the other hand in the countryside it’s really bad. I recommend going by train regardless, but dont forget to pack at least an extra hour too! Most of the time its not needed, but if its, you’re thankful for it!

@@akatsukisama1035 Thank you for your reassurance. It will not stop me from visiting Germany. I used Deutsche Bahn for a return trip between Berlin and Leipzig and it was wonderful. After travelling from London to Brussels on the Eurostar the onward journey to Munich involves a couple of changes and the transfer time is sometimes very short (e.g. 8 mins) so if trains are late or cancelled it's a problem. The total journey from London to Munich takes approximately 10 hours, so you can't always book trains with longer transfer times on both the outbound and return journeys. But I will investigate further.
