    I wouldn’t trust the magnets to keep them in place, seems like some short screws (from back) would be good.

    Here is the thing you have to change the spring or springs on your garage door becusse the current spring or springs are for the weight of the original door. Make sure to find out of the total weight with the panels added becuse it will put more stress on your motor and potentially fail and drop the door. Damage the sections and that get expensive lol

  • @diygaragedoorparts8206
    @diygaragedoorparts8206 Před rokem +2

    100% guarantee that your door will be out of balance when you add these. Your margin of error is typically 7-8lbs and a 2 door kit adds 50-60 lbs. If you install this kit save yourself from damaging you top panel and stripping your opener gear by going ahead and replacing your springs to add it just for the additional weight added. Just adding more turns to your torsion springs will not fix it.

    I'm reading these comments and all I have to say is oh my God people are stupid correct, modern garage doors are made out of steel, wooden garage doors are made out of wood when you add weight to a garage door you might as well just take your opener down and throw it away because you're going to need a floor jack to get it open wow wow wow wow

    How strong are the magnets? I don't want to get my fingers smashed in my garage door facade... again...

  • @zacksgaragedoorserviceandr1208

    So the question is does this product make the garage door heavier if so then you are going to have more problems in the future because if you had a heavy garage door it is going to destroy your garage door opener so when you install this product I highly recommend disconnecting your garage door and seeing if it's heavy and if your garage door is heavy you can one take off the wood that you put on your garage door or to call out a professional to adjust the springs

    • @SammyM00782

    • @TSPhotoAtlanta
      @TSPhotoAtlanta Před 3 lety +2

      The solution would be to replace the springs. Most suppliers won't help determine new spring sizes, but a few will based on weight, door size and previous springs. All garage torsion springs take special knowledge and tools to replace or adjust. Adding weight and merely afjusting the springs, which can be done, will lead to their earlier failure. This company has not been responsive to this video's cpmments, and I haven't seen where they address this issue. Their website does not give much info, it's mainly geared to attracting and culling investors. Beware, that's a bad sign!

      @@jackaroo2299 your garage springs are designed to carry a specific amount of weight for your door. Adding 100(?) pounds of wood to the door will cause premature failure to your system and could destroy the door. I don’t even trust the magnets lol. Not sure how much they weight though...

    Terrible idea. Makes door heavier. Can't just "adjust springs" to compensate the extra weight. Tightening your springs to compensate will cut your springs life expectancy in half. And you will have to spend another 600 on new springs + labor
    Also will be more weight for your opener. And will damage the motor or gears inside motor. These panels will also tear up your side and top door jam vinyl. It makes the door thicker, and the tracks and door are not adjusted for that extra thickness. As a garage door repair company owner for the last 10 years. I would not recommend this product.
