  • At least 43 people have been killed and four are missing after Hurricane Otis ripped through the beach resort city of Acapulco, levelling homes and hotels, submerging cars and cutting off communications.

    The extent of the damage from the category 5 storm, which struck Mexico on Thursday with winds of 165mph, has started to become clear as thousands of first responders and military officers begin to assess the damage. Otis was one of the most powerful storms ever to have hit Mexico, officials said. It shocked forecasters and scientists as it rapidly intensified off the Pacific coast while passing through warm waters, tearing up streets and scattering debris as it made landfall.

      At their high end, category five hurricanes will level even concrete structures miles inland. Read what happened to islands hit by the strongest windspeed hurricanes: Everything is leveled. Strong cat 5 means you either seek shelter underground or in a building built to withstand hurricanes (there are few), or you very likely die.

    • @hebneh
      @hebneh Před 9 měsíci +3

      @@niedas3426 No. Poured-in-place reinforced concrete will survive even EF-5 tornadoes, which have wind speeds considerably higher than even the strongest hurricanes, although elements like windows and doors will be blown out. What will be blown down, however, are cement-block walls that are composed of individual blocks held together by mortar.

And for the person asking you to prove it.... geoengineering is not a secret....do some homework and learn a little instead of expecting everyone to try to wake you up. There's more than enough information out there that any reasonable person that understands that the government is not your friend would come to the conclusion that governments also control the weather and have for a very, very long time.

      1) I said eastern Pacific hurricane, try reading next time.
      2) This storm hit a major urban area with 1 million+ people meanwhile those other storms while still strong and devasting to the areas they hit, still are negligible compared to Otis. Even the president said that this storm was the worst to ever hit in Mexican history.
      3) It is much easier for a Caribbean Hurricane to make a Cat 5 landfall than it is for an epac storm to do the same.
