    After a drop my Lumia 720 got its screen busted, and because of that I found your video. Another thing is that the mic stopped working (actually began to work erratically) a few days after the crash. I had figured its connector had probably unlatched because of the impact and was going to dismantle the whole phone to get it set properly, but as your video shows its location, I just turned the phone screen down and squished it around that connector area. Works like a charm now. Thanks a lot! Now for the screen repair... I'm gonna try to unbond the glass/digitizer and re-glue it to the lcd. I can comment how it went here, if anyone's interested.

    • @vinacarv4163
      @vinacarv4163 Před 9 lety +1

      Viktor Mars Nope. Instead of separating the glass from the LCD I managed to destroy the LCD. I was cautious and did not apply much force to it, but the screen is VERY EASY to tear. When it does, a dozen layers of polarizers and micro lenses arrays and diffusers came pouring from inside it. It's amazing how many layers make the screen in these phones! Anyway, that busted the phone for good and I would not recommend trying this aproach. Buy the screen+frame and simply replace the internals. I've bought this assembly for around 40 USD and will, once again, try to repair the thing. Also, the mic worked for about a week before beginning to stutter again, so I already bought a new mic+usb PCB assembly (around 3 usd). There's no reason to throw the phone away because of two components, so i'm not giving up on it!

      Vinicius Abreu any links you could provide us with where we could source the whole assembly? I'm sorry to read that you have had shattered it, after reading this I've pretty much stopped right after reading your comment. I just don't know now, whether after separating the LCD from the digitizer, if attaching together requires the same sort of sticky translucent tape or I'll be fine without it and just glueing the edges ? thanks mate

    Great video. Very clear and informative (as usual). I have found that separating the digitizer from the LCD is extremely tricky, much harder than the Samsung Galaxy S3/S4, and almost impossible. If you are going to attempt a repair I would recommend replacing the LCD, Glass & Digitizer at the same time.

    Most important is to keep the battery disconnected until its 100% dry inside, even if it seems to work ok it can stop working after a few days. Any trapped water will slowly eat away at the copper circuit. As the warranty is now voided remove the back cover and unplug the battery, then leave the phone in a stream of hot air for an hour or more. Try and keep the temperature below 70ºC. If you have access to a vacuum chamber it would only take 30 minutes for it to be 100% dry

    what kind of an adhesive is that you are using? ... for anyone attempting to do this, it's relatively easy, but make sure that you apply a lot of heat to the screen when attempting to detach it from the frame, and also if separating the digitizer from the lcd. that make a lot of a difference.

    Hi
    I've repaired many phones with your tutorials so very greatful for what you've put up!!!
    I do have a question, I've replaved an lcd on the lumia 720.
    The LCD works, but the digitiser doesn't? When I enquired via a phone call to local a repair shop, they said there are different revision numbers which aren't compatible?
    As I threw the old one away, I can't tell what the old one was, if any?
    To your knowledge, is this correct or do you have any suggestions for me?
    Thanks.

    I have a small doubt
    If suppose the front glass is damaged(broken) but everything is intact and the phone is working excellently. Only problem is the broken glass looks bad. If I want to replace only the glass(leaving the LCD), would u think it wll work out.

    Great video. I replaced the screen. Everything went seemingly well but when I first started the device and after giving the pin a message appeared: Try again in 221864 minutes. -- Basically nothing can be done to proceed anywhere. The volume can be controlled and I can swipe out the action center and see some notifications but if I press any of those nothing happens. I'd rather not do hard reset since I have some really important data there. Any ideas?

    I'm going through the part not yet covered here, I mean the replacement of the touch digitizer glass alone.
    Although already having the LOCA glue and UV lamp to cure this, I still had a surprise: are the lower, smaller flex of the digitizer glass and the LCD flex, soldered together (4 tabs) as it seems?

    Excellent channel, sir! I do hope your promise to cover the TOUCH/LCD Separation in a future video (like you said @19:00) will be held SOONER than later! I definitely need to get a look into this (touch cracked). I wonder if your video on L920 would be equivalent on that. Doubt on it..

    • @LE55ONS
      @LE55ONS  Před 10 lety

      The 920 had an air gap instead of the optical adhesive which makes it easier to replace the digitizer..

    • @TheMacco26
      @TheMacco26 Před 10 lety

      I wondered that. I believe L720 looks like L900 on that matter. Actually nobody has published a successful separataton of those 2 "bad boys" except after 8 hrs of airdryer.. ^^ Add to that nobody showed how to repack them later. The fact that the digitizer only is sold (over ebay) w/o any bundled adhesive film feels like quite problematic.. All that said your technique of the wire would definitely be worth seeing.. ;)

    • @TheMacco26
      @TheMacco26 Před 10 lety

      ***** Sorry to come back on that matter, but I just discovered that all the LCD+Touch I can see on sale come with the Frame bundled already. Are you aware of any LCD/Touch bare assy selling? I mean, all your dedication with the hot air gun to gently separate the metal frame from the LCD/Touch would be meaningless if the only sellable parts around are with the frame included.. Thanks and keep up with the good work!

    • @LE55ONS
      @LE55ONS  Před 10 lety

      TheMacco26 If would be nice if only the complete assembly was for sale, but as time goes on and the compatables start flooding the market you'll see the screens for sale without the frame. Lots of people buy the screen only without realising. Hopefully this one covers both..

    I just tried separating the shattered digitizer from the LCD. I did not succeed, and now don't think it's possible, at least not without some very special rig. The problem is that, as pointed out in this video, LCD is glued very strongly to the digitizer but at the same time the LCD is very thin and flimsy, backed by bendy plastic instead of metal. The front glass on it (if that's a glass at all) is way thinner than a millimetre. The end result was that the piece that I managed to separate (with the help of the hot air gun and a gold variety of molybdenum wire for mobile repair) was not the whole LCD, just the backlight. Wire sliced through the display itself instead of through the glue -- that's how strong that glue is, and how flimsy the LCD is.

    • @LE55ONS

    Hey, i just got a call from the service station saying that the capacitive button malfunction was caused by some unknown liquid, so they are not willing to repair it. Do you have any suggestions what to do with it? :D very helpful vid btw (Y)

    Just subscribed (couldn't do anything else). The Digitizer is what I'd call "Display" and the screen would be the "touch glass"? If I need to only change the glass that broke, do I need to disassemble everything step by step or I can do it in another way? Thanks very much. Great video.

      Yes, that was the first one I saw but honestly since he messed up I didn't take it seriously like I did with your video. Still i'm not confident on myself so i'm not going to try. Thanks very much thought :)
