DAY 2 of EPIC | Bodyweight & Dumbbell Upper Body Workout

  • Day 2 in the EPIC Program and let's hit the shoulders, arms, chest, back & core! This 40 minute upper body workout combines dumbbells and bodyweight exercises to hit all muscles in the upper body and core, to add strength, muscle and definition!
    Presses, rows, pulses and push ups... it’s all in here! This is a workout to strengthen your upper body and to practice movements such as push up variations!
    The exercises are paired into groups of 3 similar exercises and every 3rd exercise is a variation of push up usually relating to the previous 2 exercises. This is a lot of work for the upper body so stop for a moment to reset when needed.
    You will need a pair of dumbbells (my dumbbells are 8kg / 17.6 lbs each for your reference) and a mat.
    Please ensure you warm up for at least 5 minutes prior to beginning. (See link below for my new warm up routine)

      Hey Casandra, awesome job!! Nice to know someone else seeing progress with their push-ups game. 🔥 I tried the skull crusher push-ups today and completed 5! 🙌 I can’t go as deep like Caroline with my diamond push-ups, but I did 15 in the 40 sec period. 💪

    My body could not comprehend the skullcrusher push ups. I was laying down in position just laughing cuz my body just like "oh no honey that ain't happening"

      agreed, skull crusher push up is not humanely possible, i seriously couldnt figure out the logistics of it, so i just watched caroline do it for that portion lol!

    She could have used lighter weights and make the workout seem easy-breezy. Instead she chose to challenge herself as well and take breaks when needed. I find that encouraging when I'm struggling during the workout.

    Came back to this one after 2 years. Back then I used 3 kg dumbbells and now 6 kg. I have even progressed with the pushups 🎉

    So missing Epic already and having completed all 3, I decided to start the series again, wow I have really seen how far I have come, I remember rocking a pair of 3 kg weights and having to press pause multiple times and saying I can't do this, thinking I was going to die!! now this seems like a walk in the park after Epic 2 and heat!!!       Wow! Congrats to your progress, I hope I can one day say the same :) I am just starting out with weight training after doing just body weight for too long. Which weights would you recommend for starters? I am at a loss and don't have the money to buy a big range to try out unfortunately.

      @@cascata7770 This probably comes too late but don't waste money on low weights. Anything below 2 kilo can be substituted with household items like water bottles. Also, don't buy individual dumbbells but rather stackable/adjustable ones. They aren't even much more expensive than individual ones but offer a wide range. That's my advice on saving money.

    I started this program a little over a year ago and had to stop after breaking a wrist. One surgery, a screw, six months in a cast, lots of physio and health issues later, I AM BACK.

    day 2 done!! Legs were still crazyyy sore from yesterday's workout but was motivated enough to pull through the entire video today. Couldn't do pushups correctly but I'm super happy I am at least trying to be a better, healthier version of myself. So proud of myself and everyone else who is committing to the challenge!!

      Same, I am motivated even if I felt like a half-dead fish flopping around on the floor during most of the push up exercises.
      I want to keep going, do what I can until the workout it is exhausting to me personally, and hopefully one day I will not look and feel like a fish anymore.
      And I am also proud of you even if it was 4 months ago now.

    Caroline i will try to explane the way I feel.I am 38.I've never love sport.I am not lazy person,I like walking , sometimes riding bicycle,but sport like every day-not.Tried so many times fitness and home workout,but was so boring!I was doing like 4-5 days and that's it.I couldn't feel it.But I lost my energy.My mind was so bored from everything.Like there is no light.And I felt I had to do something,just can't find mine.Than I found you!OMG!I can't believe! It's like I woke up and see new life!Last 2 months I am doing EPIC 1.Even when I have to rest I can't wait next day to continue!I feel alive! Everything because of you!You can't imagine how you changed my life!I have no words to thank you! Be blessed!

    After years of parents, friends, and boyfriends telling me not to do weightlifting and pushups because it will give me "bodybuilder" arms, I finally did it and it felt amazing! Thank you so much for this video, I never would have tried it otherwise and it felt so amazing!

    Caroline Girvan the most phenomenal woman on the internet. You are changing the lives of millions around the world, including mine and I'm sure I speak for the rest of the world when I say I am beyond grateful for you. I work at a gold mine in Western Australia, Im away from home and my daughters for 7 days straight working 12 hour shifts. I stay in a little room at a camp full of thousands but I still feel so alone and my mental health has been struggling, not only that I have struggled with my weight and health for over a decade but then I found you and how you have helped me so much, I will be forever grateful. I just completed this workout and now I can't feel my arms lol I am heading off for a 12hour night shift, wish me luck!!

    Day 2 of Epic journey with you and everyone else. I tried you out a year ago and couldn't manage. After strength training with yoga for a year. I can manage most with modifications on some. You are the best! My legs are recovering and thank goodness for BCAA! If you have lower back issues PLEASE make sure to squeeze your glutes! Love and Light to everyone! You got this!

    I've always been blessed even since I was a child to be able to do push ups. Reading other comments makes me glad I never took that skill for granted, but dang I could barely do a single one by the end of this workout!       I’m doing knee push ups also! It’s taken me months of consistently to get to doing those. As long as you feel challenged then great, do as many normal ones as you can (I’m doing 2 at the moment) and then the rest on knees, gradually we can build it up ☺️

    Doing this program again.....pushups are still my nemesis!! They KILL my wrists and doing them on a dumbbell is just as torturous, but gotta keep on keepin' on! Thank you, Caroline! You're the best 🥰

      I agree 100%. Today during a diamond push up I just lay on the mat and thought "aaaahhhhh, what have I done". But it's a great initiative to keep moving. Enjoy. We'll all come out stronger and better for it :-)

    I did it.. I went whole video with as heavy weights as Caroline´s... for the first time in almost 2 years that I am training with her... so proud of myself, I can´t wait to do this with even heavier weights!     DAY Two REPEAT - I remember doing this first time round with the same mix of 12.5 and 10kg DB and at that stage it was about 50:50 between each weight depending on the movement. Today with the exception Lat and Front raises I stuck with the 12.5. I really think revisiting is so motivational because you see how much stronger you are and how you can battle through all those Push-ups without stopping. This repeat also highlights the improvement in form and control of pace especially on the last set. One thing stays the same..... the pump you get after this session is still awesome. So good Caroline and I still love those Push-ups 💪

    Caroline is absolutely fabulous!!! No machines or weights that I lift ever made feel so sore and accomplished! The work outs are super fun, energetic, and the fast tempo does not let you stop - just go go go! Her workouts are challenging and definitely do the job. She is definitely someone to look up to and get inspired.

    My arms were so defeated after this workout that I struggled to open a container of berries to add to my protein shake and somehow scraped my thumb in the process. 😂 The push-ups after each round were extremely challenging. I can't go the full 40 seconds normal so I start out doing regular push-ups until my arms want to give out, then get on my knees and finish the set out that way.
    Ps. My legs and glutes are on fire after yesterday - ouch!
    Thank you for providing such amazing content/workouts for everyone, Caroline! Your channel and videos are by far, hands down, the greatest on CZcams. 👍

    Epic day 2 repeated today..the first time the weights were lower and as the timer started to beep the weights were thrown on the floor 😂 I struggled with the push ups and couldn't do most of them on that day. Today the weights were twice as heavy, I worked until the last beep of timer and all push ups were completed....it's amazing that 10 weeks of consistency can make such an improvement....happy days everyone who is back on it whilst waiting for round 2...thank you Caroline your epic program definitely works if followed consistently..👏👏👏👏

    7:33 am here. Did this instead as strangely I found this one more doable for me than the beginner one for today. I couldnt do all the push up sets tho but modified as best as I could. Thanks again!

      @@bluemoun I usually have very weak knees. I have my good and bad days. As I have a medical condition this can also affect my joints. I did the Epic upper body just before. OMG....zero strength there lol. I can't do push-ups to save my life so I did them either against the door or bench. i have been doing yoga for well over a year and still can't master chutarunga.

      No, you are not alone. I attempt them but I feel I am going to fall on my face. I am hoping as I get stronger, I will be able to do them no problem.     decided to be brave and go straight from beginner epic to epic 1. so far it's great! I'm challenged but getting it done. had to do a plank instead of diamond push ups. Can't wait to see how much I progress by the end! Thank you again for your excellent channel. Much love.
