- The Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ “n. 00167” was the car that helped Arturo Merzario to prove that he had what it took to be a driver, but it was also a faithful companion in his adventures. With her, Merzario obtained his first important wins and reached the altar, where he found his wife, Anna. More than half a century later, Speedholics helped the “Cowboy” to catch up with his old Alfa Romeo again.

I spent my honeymoon in Varese.....and being a passionate cyclist took my bike and rode up to the Madonna di Ghisallo and around Lago Como. One of the most beautiful places in the world.
Now that the age of the power-banks-on-four-wheels has arrived 😁, I sit in my 1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV designed by Giugiaro (while he was still working at Bertone), start the Busso in-line-four with two double carburettors and go find some twisty backroads in the hills.
I am absaolutely sure that Merzario's blood has a higher octane rate than my uncle's home-made Grappa 😉.

Querido e inolvidable angel de la suerte Dn ARTURO MERZARIO , gran piloto en el despertar de los autos de formula uno con motores en la cola , tan dificiles de domar en sus inicios , el fue una pieza clave EN EL DESARROLLO en los equipos donde armonizo su genio y talento , y en el comienzo de esto menciono al ANGEL de la suerte por que con su valentia y aun con autos lanzados a toda velocidad se arrojo sobre el auto de NIKKI LAUDA en llamas para socorrer a su compañero de ocacion desabrochando los cinturones de seguridad , EPICO VERLO CON SUS BRAZOS ROGANDO QUE BAJEN LA VELOCIDAD A SUS COMPAÑEROS DE GRILLA , y de esa forma lograron salvarlo los medicos , verlo a ARTURO es conmovedor ver como pasaban los autos a su lado a toda velocidad y el con sus brazos como elices desesperadas rogando que paren , siempre estaras en nuestros pensamientos aqui en ARGENTINA , siempre te recordamos ARTURO querido , me alegra verte tan bien , es justo que tal sea , que tengas mucha proteccion y guia de DIOS , abrazo grande y por favor date una vuelta por aqui , te esperamos . Cet homme a une personnalité qui pourrait servir de modèle à beaucoup ... Et cette voiture magnifique. Comme par hazard, j'ai eu la chance d'en voir une il y a quelques jours à un rassemblement de voitures anciennes. De couleur blanche et dans un état exceptionnel 😍
Ein toller Mensch mit großer Leidenschaft. Diese Generation wird mir im Motorsport fehlen.

I honestly think Aturo loves Alfas more than Ferraris.
Alfa was where Enzo Ferrari began his career, it doesn’t surprise me. They won Le Mans in the 1930s several times. The Alfa name means infinitely more to pro racing legends than it does to the average consumer who grew up with a not so good image and stereotype of Italian road cars.
A delightful personality and so brave too.

Negli anni 70 passavamo la villeggiatura estiva nella casa di fronte alla chiesetta del Ghisallo, mio cugino un po' piu' grande di me, si ricorda ancora quando offrivi il gelato al bar del stazione distributore Shell verso Magreglio, parlando delle corse imminenti con Ferrari. Da li sono diventato un Huge Petrolhead con diverse Lotus e Porsche. Tuttavia certe Alfa rimangono il mio piu' grande desiderio. Al Ghisalllo e Civenna poi sono state le mie piu' belle vacanze di semrpre

J'ai rencontré le pilote italien au STETSON à Montlherry il eut la chance de faire quelques tours de l'anneau d vitesse francais Avec unecdes deux Ferrari 156 F1 de 1961 les fameuses Shark nosevaux deux moteurs six cylindres 1500 cubes en V inclinés différemment un à 60 degrés l'autre à 30 je crois sans aucune incidence sur leurs performances identiques des F1 légendaires Baghetti avait gagné le grand prix de Frànce à nord de l'une d'elles magnifiques restauration de l'atelier de Modena au siège Ferrari ☝️👏👏❤️❤️Les deux dernières F1 Sharks n'ose survivantes fonctionnelles hormis celle d'un riche collectionneur suisse Mais auto pas utilisable et une autre aux USA pas roulante non plus ..celles la à Montlherry elles ont tapé leur petit 200kmh sans les bousculer et Avec le désir de les ramener au bercail entières ..tous les visiteurs ont Ou s'en approcher et contempler de près leur mécanique et poste de pilotage merci Arturio très sollicité par les badauds en langue anglaise STETSON sur la tête obligé Ou en italien ..il ne parle pas le francais Ou très peu mais il comprend ciao champion il a pilote de sacrés bolides y compris et surtout des barquettes trois litres du championnat du monde pas de succès en firmuke 1 Avec les F1 pelies a tartes des annees ratées par la Scuderia qui vouait tout son argent et ses techniciens aux sports protis délaissant la F 1, entre la 312 B de Jacky Ichwz et avant l'arrivée de la B 3 du premier succès de Niki Lauda et de son épopée avec la T, la T2 puis la T3 T4, T5 de Jody Scheckter et du fabuleux canadien le regrette Gilles Villeneuve mort bêtement à cause d'un pilote nullard qui ne l'avait pas vu arriver derrière lui aux essais ...helas une très grande perte pour la F1 le meilleur pilote de son époque plus fort que les champions du monde titres ainsi va la vie .....Ferrari C3 turbo adieu Gilles pilote aussi d'hélicoptère ( le sien )😢😢😢😢😢Fangio Clark , Rindt , Stewart , Villeneuve , Senna , Schumacher les meilleurs pilotes de F1 de toute l'histoire!!!...les autres ...tous sont en dessous meme Prost !!!!

Es gab eine Zeit in der Formel 1: Immer wenn ein Fahrer ausfiel, kam Arturo Merzario und kam auf Anhieb klar. Wenn man seine Alfas sieht, kann man neidisch werden.

The golden age of F1, personalities like him, fortune seekers, gypsies and charlatans represented the sport. Merzario was and is beow zero cool always wearing his white Marlboro hat, personalities dominated F1 NOT the big bucks.
You could see from the billboards where they raced ELF in France, Agip in Italy BP for England and death was alway near.
People drank Martini, smoked Marlboro and we did not care, Ford Escort Mexico's were cool, VW made Beatles and everything Alfa made was out of this world even the Sud was crusty😂cool.
Yes, life was better when I was a kid........Dad had a cool Renault 16 TS
