I was with my mom the other day. I was listening to the podcast and she started listening in with me. She’s a two time cancer survivor, been trying to get her to add some more healthy lifestyle aspects in. Two nights in a row now she’s stuck to a healthy dinner of smoked chicken, veggies, and salad with my dad. And is starting to go for walks every day. Y’all make a real difference and I appreciate it.

Once I realized what true self love was I realized that I needed to change my thinking. I became my biggest cheerleader. After a year of changing my eating habits and lifting the times a week I've went from 300 lbs to 185 and maintaing. Love the way my life has changed. To anybody struggling, please don't give up. thanks for talking about this. I became obese as a child, and have felt trapped in my body for most of my life. I actually lost a good amount of weight naturally when I left for college through healthy lifestyle choices (95% whole foods, lots of walking, light cardio), but have never been able to get to a healthy range (just maintained about 30-40 lbs overweight). It makes me SO mad when I hear people glorify or justify obesity, and I appreciate you guys talking about it so openly, honestly, and empathetically. People need to understand this information.
Thanks to you guys I, a cardio queen, have recently touched a dumbbell for the first time in my life 😂 I’m looking to lose 50+ lbs but feel motivated/capable for the first time ever to actually TRY (: the information you guys share about adaptation has wholly changed my perspective and given an explanation to why I could never lose all the weight. many thanks!

      Hello
Something I have been in search for quite sometime is a connection with somebody that goes beyond vanity. It's very hard to do in this day and age. People can be, somewhat very superficial.
On my quest to achieve this I have learnt a lot about human nature. It seems to me that those who are not given traits such as beauty or being wealthy are some of the nicest, kindest and generous people. While the "gorgeous" and well off seem to be the most arrogant and greedy people out there.
Of course that's not to say there aren't beautiful kind people out there. I've been in the process of change for a while now and I have made some decent changes but don't you just hate it when people can't let go of your past mistakes.
I saw your profile and it intrigued me. I wanted to learn more about who you are and what type of path you would like on in life. Can we talk?

I started listening to mind pump when my son was about 2, I felt like shizzzz was a stay at home mom and was hooked on soda Coca Cola, I still am lol 😂 so I don’t drink it. If I do I have to like slowly wean off of it, it’s so good for my soul lol 😂
But anyways listening to you three pushed me to create better habits, prime, and focus just on feeling better, it’s been about 4 years and my body is just strong 💪🏽, I have taught both my brothers everything I learned from you three and they have been able to push themselves so much better.
Obviously yes I learned a lot about fitness BUT the biggest thing that I learned from you three is how to listen and get my point across I learned how to handle arguments and differences so much better just by listening 👂 and for that I’m grateful! Can’t wait for Sal’s book,

I’m using maps starter to get my younger very deconditioned bro back in shape. He’s the most picky terrible eater ever. Boiled hot dogs, frozen corn dogs, etc. told him eat whatever he wants as long as he eats one piece of fruit a day (banana, full apple, cup of grapes) and one and a half water bottles a day... dammit it doesn’t sound like much but I’m so proud of him. Going to make an attempt to get my mom and my dad on starter also but we will see how that does. Literally going to leach as much info from
You guys as possible cause I’m an aspiring personal trainer and listening to you guys gives me confidence that I can do this.

I'm almost finished with my maps anabolic, and the shredded summer bundle of will be a perfect next step!! I've got a joke for u guys...
In Italy there's a man pushing a cart selling berries. He says, "get your raspberries, get your blueberries!" Some guy comes up to him and says, "I'll take some strawberries." The vendor responds saying, "sorry I ONLY have raspberries and blueberries."
The next day, same thing, "GET YOUR RASPBERRIES, GET YOUR BLUEBERRIES!" The same guy as the day before says, "you know what, let me get some strawberries." The vendor getting a little irritated says, "look I told you I don't have any strawberries, I just have the raspberries and I have the blueberries." Then he continues on.
A couple days later, "GET YOUR RASPBERRIES HERE, GET YOUR BLUEBERRIES!" Without fail that same guy asks, "can I get some strawberries?" The vendor at wits end says, I DON'T HAVE ANY (then spells out) S-T-R-A-W-F-U-C-K-B-E-R-R-I-E-S!!!!! Very confused, the customer responds, "What? There's no "fuck" in strawberries. The vendor says, "EXACTLY!!! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU! THERE'S NO FUCKIN STRAWBERRIES!!!"

Over the time we've changed our methods but it wasn't until she discovered you guys that we started to correct all our bad habits in both eating and working out. I'm in my 7th week of Aesthetic and have never felt or looked better. She went from barely able to get off the floor to doing full squats and eliminating her back problems. Sal - I think your points around the 9 minute mark are spot on. And I am impressed that you touch on this because you seem like a person that has never been overweight and unhealthy. I grew up fat. Since around 12 years old. Its not just a physical thing. Of course that is a major part of it. I can't speak for all, But for most, and for me, it really does infect all aspects of your life. The anxiety, the depression. I had no self esteem, no self worth. For most of my teens and 20s, I always viewed things in a negative light, and had major mental health issues. This led to a lot of drinking, binge eating etc. It affected my professional life as well, because I really didn't believe in myself either. It took me until 27-28 years old to start work my ass off and get my shit together professionally simply due to my mental/physical state (now 33). Looking back now, I can correlate most positive things happening in my life (career, marriage, house) to when I decided to try and start taking my health (physical/mental) and exercise seriously because it makes you feel good and teaches you discipline. I am still halfway there physically, but I just wanted to touch on why I think your points were important.

I did my first Anabolic workout last night. Yay! As 50 approaches the challenge to be strong and have stamina and fight fat feels harder and harder and I find your approach intriguing. Not giving up all my cardio workouts but doing that hour of just strength work last night felt really good. I’m looking forward to the next twelve weeks.

I LOVE how you not only focus on the physical aspects of health and wellness but you drive home the point of mental wellness and how the problem and solution really lie here. Obesity is (one of) the physical reflections of the issues being battled within the mind. Its so important for people to know that. Thank you for your informative and caring information.

BMI is solely based on Height and Weight and does not have anything to do with body fat percentage. It is certainly a flawed system for example, A 6 foot 2 person that is 220 lb is considered obese. Most linebackers in the NFL are way over that. I feel like as more people understand the importance of building muscle, the BMI scale will become more and more obsolete. There should be a new system that replaces that sort of measurement. With that being said, Obesity is definitely a big issue in the US but that 45% Obesity rate can seem a bit exaggerated. But hey, sometimes something like that needs to be exaggerated so more people pay attention.
Love you guys content btw, I just recently purchased the shredded summer bundle and started on MAPS Prime, made me realize how much work I need in terms of mobility. Keep up with the great content!

This was a great show if people really listen to what you guys are saying. I am obese over the last 15 months I’ve lost about 110LBS
Over many attempts to lose weight I’ve always just tried to change everything. I found a story to make me go for another attempt but this channel has helped with diet and working out understanding made great difference. As well as understanding that the scale doesn’t mean there isn’t change.
Now working on losing more fat added muscle and getting a better look as well as load capacity.
All and great show you fellas helping these people understand and change. Thank you.

I don't do it often but the few times I've asked friends to guess my weight, the response is always hilarious. Sometimes they are as much as 50 pounds off. In fact, one of my closest friends guessed weight and age professionally at fairs when he was young and he was 37 pounds off (I'm 212, and he guessed 175). I carry weight 'well', and that's not good. My BMI is well over 30, and I'm not real muscular - just look like an average guy. SKINNY FAT IS REAL FOLKS, and I'm working on it. Thanks for your information here to help fight it. Been lifting consistently, eating WAY cleaner, and working in weekly cardio in the form of long bike rides since I started listening/ watching this podcast!
