I had a Jack Russell Terrier and she was the gentlest, kindest family pet... except for the two times she encountered rats and she instantly transformed into a wild animal. It was amazing how she knew purely by instinct to pick them up by the neck and shake them, causing instant death.

A mouse ran under the stove one day, and one of my dogs sat there for two days waiting for her chance to rid me of the pest. She was successful. It's not like a a cat playing with a mouse either. @@mrjohnsonsworkingterriers I appreciate you managing a camera during all that action I finally was able to catch bfs interest after trying to get him on board with fostering to adopt a young Norfolk that needs a foster right now. We both had our eyes glued to this! I never really knew much about the breed and their reputation as a working dog until I saw the article tied to this video. I’d love any dog but I gained a new found respect for these tough cookies and I’m even more now keeping my fingers crossed it works out. So thanks again for making this video they are easily now in my top 10 for sure after watching this!:) :))

They are indeed bad asses. Jack's are the most bad ass IMO. They will get after about anything in the woods. Fox, Possum, Racoons, Badgers, minks, Squirrels, Rats and skunks (you don't want them getting after skunks)

As kids we witnessed a mass migration of rats from the banks of a disused canal.
They crossed a building site and through a park....the other lot came down the street...so many everyone had to stand on the garden walls
They were 50 yards wide and 300 yards long.....must have been a million plus of them...some bigger
Than cats.....they then crossed another main road and disappeared toward another old canal and a disused cemetaries. ..
    Tipton...west midlands.

Are rats more of a problem on farms (wherever you are located) than here in Ohio? I've never seen so many rats, except on the Lake Erie waterfront circa early 1960's (before we had water treatment plants) and an occasional FEW around Corn Cribs, and Of Course the numerous two legged ones that walk upright in the Washington DC Beltway area, for which Mr. Johnson could perhaps provide a valuable service if the dogs are keen to travel. All the Best! DE W8LV BILL

Yuk. This is what those dogs were born to do. Actually, as the French name implies, most of them were bred to go down into holes in the ground to dig out and kill foxes, badgers, rats, etc. Good job, guys.

I bet there's hundreds more but they'll keep for another day. Great effort on the amount the dogs did get though. More humane than poison and way more effective, of course. Maybe I should get one of these dogs round to mine for a few days as we live close to a summit and a bunch of cafes and restaurants. You see one in broad daylight and you know there's many more you don't see.
