The Revel/Tanabe Medallion Touring is an amazing daily exhaust for the IS300. It's just a little quiet for my aims after buying another car to daily drive.

Got a manual swap done to a 6 speed on mine a couple months ago, absolutely worth it, makes the car so much better.
I can imagine! CD009 or Getrag? I’m bored of the auto box but it’s nice to drive to work in the morning I suppose 🤷🏻♂️
Sorry I never actually saw your reply 😅 it’s the 6 speed from an is200 which I think is the j160. I’m currently not planning on crazy power so it’s the perfect ‘cheap’ option but doesn’t feel that way 👍

@@reececarpenter7426 I didn’t do it myself so I’m not sure how much labour and parts cost - I paid £1500 overall, this included my diff being welded 😁

Sounds very similar to the Greddy SP exhaust. If you wanted larger than 3 inches, Power House Racing makes a 4 inch exhaust.
Sold the car now. If I could go back, I’d have bought the Greddy Revolution RS.

@@shizukesajdm Cx racing, little cheaper than BC they ride awesome! 12-10k spring rate with dampening half up, I’m going to stiffen it up a little bit and lower it another half inch, it’s sitting around the same height as yours right now.

just got mine installed too today. a little quiet and honestly not sure if I should've gotten the greddy rs cat back exhaust since they're in the same price range. what do you think of it so far? im planning on installing headers and a cold air intake.
Awesome video! Sad to hear that Tenabe exhaust wasn't what you expected. I'll put in my experience with Greddy Exhaust. It is pretty loud and sounds great. However because is300 is a luxury vehicle, it takes a lot of that sound away when your windows are closed. But the sound of the vibration that gets transferred to the body of the car stays the same. It's not a problem when cruising around the city or making pulls, but it's very annoying to drive the car on the highway. Going 80mph with Greddy Exhaust for a long time will kill your ears. Other than that when listening from the outside, it sounds like a supra😂.
Since this car isn’t my daily driver anymore, it doesn’t really matter how inconvenient it is for cruising haha! It’s strictly a project car now. I remember having a full decat from the engine to the tail pipe on my IS200 and it was INSANELY loud 😂 not good for highway cruising! The Tanabe is amazing, but this is no longer just a cruiser 😁✌🏻 If I had another IS300 as my everyday car, I would get the Tanabe with a decat. Thanks for watching!
I chose this one over the Greddy. I tried to get the Greddy but their customers service and lead times were shit. I didn’t want my is300 to be crazy loud anyways. I have HPS CAI as well. So I just wanted it to sound a little deeper

Fuck me dead that is the most unique, interesting & kick ass (more conservative sounding exhaust) systems I’ve ever heard on a 2Jz.
I don’t like the raspy sound one gets from a resonator delete!
I’ve owned quite allot of high end exhaust systems in my life and that easily looks like a $900+ Japanese exhaust at the current rate of inflation.
I think you would have been ALLOT happier with an HKS Hi-Power. The sound of HKS is awesome without being obnoxious but your gonna pay allot for a full HKS exhaust!
BTW You can stil get Megan racing Y pipes. They add a little power and shift the power and RPM noticeably into the upper rpm which some love and some hate and some don’t notice/care!

@@ryanjofre I think with some aftermarket headers, this exhaust could have been a lot more interesting. It needs “opening” up a little to really hear the engine. Great for a daily, though!
I don’t think these are made in Japan anymore. When Revel took over, they changed the manufacturing. I’m guessing going from a Japanese company to a US company, they’re probably made in China now! I can’t buy any of the Megan Racing products because I’m not in the US. Also, the flanges on the “downpipe” have been replaced with a different design, so they would have to be changed too.

Your exhaust looked like a $900+ Japanese masterpiece. All of the headers on the market are shit except the amazing Figs race headers but a figs costs thousands.
The cheap eBay $150 headers add as much as Megan but they don’t sound good. It’s hard to describe but the sound pitch sucks. The Megan headers suck bad.

Hawk HP’s front pads, ebc green stuff rear. 4 piston Lexus brake upgrade soon.
It’s gonna be a bad ass sleeper.
Long term turbo monster. I’ve driven 350 HO, 500HP, 750HP & a 1200HP turbo monster IS300. They’ll all made me grin so hard my face hurt!
Oh yeah…I’m also adding a Cisco U.S. market lower chassis brace for future drifting.
@@shizukesajdm your exhaust must have been made in Japan. Fukin beautiful. Megan is a crap shoot anyway. They make really good and mediocre products ime! The y pipe probably adds 12 solid Hp on the is so worth it for an N/a car desperate for power. The cheap Chinese intake almost paid for the y pipe.🤣🤣.

@@ryanjofre The Greddy RS Revolution is hands down the best option for the IS300, and I wish I’d have waited for it. It was COVID times, and I couldn’t find it in stock anywhere. The car is sold now, and I’m moving on to MUCH bigger things in 2025!

I think my car sounds the same with the stock muffler, aftermarket headers, and a single stock sized resonator. Hard to tell from a video though as mic doesn’t pickup everything the way it is in real life

If you dont mind me asking but how did you determine the piston is not good?
They should be changed around 100k miles and I thought I’d just do it anyway since I’m completely rebuilding the callipers. They’re now done and on the car (check my Instagram). I’ve just gotta sort the rear stock brakes out and edit the video.
