He need to score 2 goal to lead, 1 to equalize but for Messi he need 1 goal to become Top Goal scorer and 1 more assist to become the most assist. Argentina need a tactical strategy to cover Griezmann and prevent well served balls going into the French strikers. Keep Griezmann and the French midfield frustrated and cut-off from their strikers and Argentina wins. I predict a very aggressive, workhorse performance from the Argentinian midfield and look forward to seeing what tactics Scaloni has up his sleeve.
I can see Paredes and Fernandez double marking Griezmann, also one of the most amazing things about Alvarez is the fact he is not olso a top scorer but helps running back to defense and steal the ball from behind the counterattack.
He comes full speed and tips the ball into Argentina midfielders, and inmediately runs to the attack and expects for the long assist behind the defense line. The amount of effort he puts into every play and never stop running helps Messi to conserve energy and removes the mark from him at the same time.
The last goal against Croatia shows that Messi and Alvarez fit perfectly together and they could be very dangareous.

Messi is a generational talent. His career is unbelievable. WC or not, he's a legend and one of the goats. Now I think the media and pundits saying he will win because he deserves it, is unsportsmanlike. Considering every player dreams of reaching this stage, sometimes the best team doesn't win. Comes down to moments of individual brilliance, teamwork to defend, goalkeeper being a wall and good tactics. Argentina have gotten the job done after loss to Saudi Arabia, but they have struggled. Primarily against a easier opponent in Australia, against physicial/taller Dutch, and against Croatia they won but were constantly dispossesed in midfield. France has not really taken off in dominant fashion, but they never really look troubled. They have great CBs, good attacking wingbacks, solid midfield with Griezmann having the tournament of his life, Giroud being dominant threat, and mbappe speed breaking down defenses with goals and passes. People shouldn't forget, Dembele, and Griezmann played with Messi for years Mbappe also. this might benefit them knowing his habits, and Rabiot faced Messi in champions league 4-0 psg vs barca and Rabiot had messi in his pocket even dribbled around him left him in the dust. It would be a dream finish for Messi, but apart from Messi argentina don't have another difference maker (maybe Di Maria, injured) where as France has talent/skill/pace/physicality in every position. I think it will be a tough grueling match. And it might just upset the favorite team to win.

Great News Argentina beat france by 3:2🥰 messi score 2 goals
I think a 5-2-2-1 would be decent as the bottom 5 would provide good coverage against attackers (mainly just Mbappé, Giroud, and Griezmann). They can also switch and support the offense, whenever needed. The top 2-2-1 will comprise of attackers and midfielders (like Messi, Mac Allister or Alvarez). The square formation will make good opportunities for tiki-taka playing styles, that can break through France's strong defense.
Also....
WE HAVE A MESSI.
Nah that's too defensive and it will lead to France LB and RB attacking more highly on pitch where wingers can occupy space... But 3-5-2 can be good against France 4-3-3 as arg will have more of the chances to move ball on midfield and if you analyse arg game then you can see they focus more on mid... And if arg won battles of mid and possibly manage to restrict spaces for fra attack then we will have better chance to win... Because fra defense haven't been lethal or good yet...
Either way arg will likely to go with 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 and then anything other then that would be 4-4-2
Oh, I didn't mention that I think France would use a 4-2-3-1, I guess... But I'm not 100% sure.
