Hey guys, if this repair does not work for you (there’s still water coming out and not enough of a seal to divert the water), look for the small rubber circle That looks like it should fit around the PIN ITSELF. Put the pin in first, then the rubber on the pin on. the inner part of the spout, then the white plastic thing. The rubber is supposed to be where the pin and plastic meet. I’m no Plummer, just a programmer, but I sure felt like one while writing this comment!!

Also my little white piece is loose I can shake it around but the actual metal piece won’t budge up or down and I’m missing the top piece to pull it up or down. I thought I could just push the metal piece up from the bottom but it won’t move.

Good morning, just poured a cup of coffee and am sitting down to answer any and all questions for the DIY community.
Have you confirmed that it’s a twist-off design or press-fit? If it’s a twist-off, turning it counterclockwise will hopefully break it free. It’s possible that there’s a bit of calcium buildup making it more difficult to move.
Most important thing is to work very carefully to ensure you don’t harm anything in the process.

Thanks for watching, any update? It’s likely that it’s pretty calcified if it’s been installed for many years.
Spraying vinegar inside any and all openings of spout will help break up calcification. Continue to be extremely careful as you or your niece try to remove spout, the last thing you want to do is damage the internal plumbing.

Thanks for watching, any update on the project? Are you referring to the white plastic inner part that works in conjunction with the pull lever & seal? If so, the video link below may be helpful.

After putting in a new tub/shower diverter when turning on shower water is also coming out of tub spout. What is the cause. Thank you

Thanks for watching, your diverter is still allowing water through when switching it to overhead.
The diverter seal may be the cause.

How do I get the converter off of the pipe?

Thanks for watching, is your setup different than this press-fit design?

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders It's the type of spout that twists on and off by hand, but there's a converter on the end of the pipe and I tried to get it off using a wrench but it wouldn't budge(it has blue tape on the threading).

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Well thanks for going over all of this, but what I'm trying to do is remove that converter piece that's on the end of the pipe. There's nothing wrong with the spout...the issue is that my shower pipe is broken and leaking, so I'm trying to modify the tub into a makeshift shower system with hosing. I have all the hosing that will fit onto the piping if the converter is removed, but when I try to screw it off it won't move. I read somewhere that somebody else was having the same problem and he just kept trying to force it off, but then the whole pipe started going around in a circle, and now there's leaking when the tub water runs or something like that.

Thanks for the follow up info. Sounds like you have a vision and a plan, we like that. 😁👍
We haven’t modified our setup in that way however the last thing you want to do is force it…it will break and it will cause unwanted leaking.
Wish we had additional info for you….

So I replaced the lever. But I feel like it’s taking a good amount of effort to push and pull the lever when switching. Any ideas?

Thanks for watching, any update? We came across your other comment as well. Are all parts installed properly and not damaged?
If the white plastic guide is installed backwards, the lever will be a bit stiff.
