Personally, I think that Shallan has an extra personality that is taking control without the others noticing. I think that extra personality is Mraize's "spy in Dalinar's inner circle". And that she will have to confront this, and it will cause her to have to face her inner demons and admit what she did to Dalinar/Navani.

While I don't think that Venli is as interesting a character as Kaladin, Shallan, or Dalinar, I am absolutely here for exploring this side of the listeners/singers. Seeing the complexity behind the history of the desolation's and how there can be resistance against odium in his own army (Venli and Leshwi heading a resistance?) Is just amazing. I think that in order to truly beat odium, Dalinar must unite them ALL (singers/listeners included!) And so understanding the "enemy" through Venli's eyes is going to be so important. This is even hinted in Kaladin's interactions with the singers and Fused. Love this series!

I am LOVING the representation with Brando Sando lately, especially in terms of mental illness. I don't see what he has done up to this point making a big enough difference. I don't mind Sanderson adding Easter eggs to other books or series, but I'm not loving this increased emphasis on the cosmere in this series. I really feel like those who haven't read Warbreaker are missing out on the full story experience. With all the talk of world hopping it seems like all his other books may be required reading for this series. I have read them, but I was hoping this series would be more self contained. I'm sure the story will be understood without reading his other books, but there are characters from other books who have non cameo roles now in this series, and I'm not loving the idea of that.

I can't believe I didn't look at this thing with Adolin and Shallon from the perspective of Wheel of Time... Sanderson ripped off Rand Al'Thor's three wives and rolled them up into one character... you have Shallon, the bratty noble with magic powers (Elayne), Veil the Dark Haired rogue who likes bad boys (Min), and Radiant the Honorable Warrior (Avienda)... and this book is basically Die Hard with a Sprengence ... it seems he is claiming a whole lot more for his Cosmere than just his own works...
