If that is so, all the F16s will be based in Ukraine. The Russians will destroy the airfields they are based in with long range missiles. F16 cannot operate on damaged airfields because their weak engines need long runways for takeoff; the huge open scoop at the bottom needs to a clean runaway to not suck up engine-damaging debris and their weak landing gears need smooth runways. This is why most people think the F16s will be operated from Poland or Romania. The Russians have promised to attack any airport that hosts F16s

They are not designed to strike ground targets. When the Ukrainian air defense misses a target, the missile falls to the ground - This is why its illegal to put air defense inside cities, like the Ukrainian army does. Whenever you see any report about Russia hitting Ukraine with S300 missiles, it is actually a Ukrainian air defense missile that missed it's target and fell on a civilian area.
