I lucky have a few threaders left from living with my ex who was a dental assistant.. but otherwise i cant seem to find them in stores! Why? Only online?
I did OK for a while but maybe because the middle tooth of the bridge has set in a bit lower I can't get the theader all the way through. It runs either into the tooth or the inner gum. At this point I'm probably going to have to get a water pik. There'll be learning curve on that too but at least I won't be poking myself causing discomfort.
Great video. I have super floss how do you do it with that?!
Hi, I made a video about how to use super floss and an interproximal brush. czcams.com/video/A3wOXzu-76Y/video.html
Thank you for this. I received my Maryland bridge today. The flossing felt a bit uncomfortable - will it always feel like that? Any recommended brands for the threader and floss?
Hi, thank you for watching. You should get used the flossing after a couple of days. For floss, my favorite is Glide. For floss threaders I don't have a favorite.
Hello! I'm about to receive 2 Maryland bridges. Could you please tell me how it is so far? Is it still good?
@@egorshakhov4077 It's been going great! The keys is really making sure you keep them clean, which can be tiring to be honest, but necessary.
Hello! I've just gotten my braces off (I had a gap between central incisors which was closed within 3.5 months and 2 missing upper lateral incisors (I don't have them since I was 11 or so) ). I can't have dental implants as I don't have enough bone. My dentist's solution is to place 2 Maryland bridges (it costs about $1400). So, I'm about to complete my dental treatment :) How long can a Maryland bridge last if all recommendations are followed?
Hi, it all depends on your particular situation. I've had patients with Maryland bridges that have lasted for 10+ years. I've had other patients where the bridges came loose in a couple of years. It depends on your bite and eating habits.
I’m a hygienist and I have such a hard time doing this. I feel so dumb 😅 my hands are too beefy and I feel like I can’t grab the thread
Sometimes a pair of tweezers makes it easier. Here is a video I made showing how to use tweezers with a floss threader, czcams.com/video/U27vgHDTzmM/video.html.
Thank you very much for watching.
There are no spaces in my dental bridge, it’s a front tooth, incisor, and canine. Can I use a water glider instead?
Hi, thank you for the question. Yes there is a space underneath the false tooth where you can use the floss threader. A water pik will help get that area clean but it will still leave a film on your teeth. The floss threader will help you remove that film.
I always end up cutting my gums. I use Glide floss. Gums are sensitive.
Keep the floss against your tooth. The floss should rub against the side of your tooth and slide under your gum a little bit.
Does flossing underneath the bridge cause the gums to recede? I have a perm. bridge in the front of my teeth and underwent extensive work to build bone in the bottom would very much like not to have gum recession.
Hi, proper flossing under the bridge won't cause gum recession. Over time your gums will recede on their own.
@@VeryNiceSmileDental thank you very much for your reply. Take care.
When we do floss under the bridge is it safe and I dont hv to worry in case the cement of the bridge loose?
It's safe to floss under a dental bridge, it won't loosen the bridge. If the bridge is loose on one side, see your dentist right away.
I got floss through my bridge but I have a hard time sliding it back and forth left to right
Hi, just work it slowly with a little bit of downward pressure and you should be able to get it under the false tooth in your bridge. If its still giving you trouble, have your dentist show you how to do it at your next dental checkup. Thank you for watching.
Is there an alternative? I just got my back two bottom molars replaced with bridged implants. I’m having a really hard time flossing under the bridge on my left. I can’t seem to maneuver back there and it’s so frustrating!! Would a water pick be enough? Or do I NEED to use the threader and floss?
Hi, a water pick is better than nothing. Can you use an interproximal brush or superfloss under that bridge?
@@VeryNiceSmileDental I haven’t tried an interproximal brush, but I definitely will. I got super floss from the dentist (I just got the bridges placed two days ago) and that’s what I’ve been trying to weave with the threader, but I can’t even get the threader in there. I’ll try the interprox brush first and see if that helps. Thank you so much!
@@maxe381 You're welcome! Let me know how it goes.
@@maxe381 , I made a new video that you might find helpful. czcams.com/video/U27vgHDTzmM/video.html Let me know if it helps.
@@VeryNiceSmileDental I just watched it! That’s great, thank you! Definitely gonna buy one of those. Will make my life a while lot easier
Yeah I've tried this with two of my new bridges. I cannot get the damn threader in. Very frustrating
Hi, sorry to hear. Next time you see your dentist, ask them or the dental hygienist to show you where to insert the floss threader. It can be hard to see the correct spot in the mirror.
can someone who don’t have permanent retainers also use it?
Yes you can still use a floss threader, but it's easier to just floss conventionally. Thank you very much for watching.
I can’t get mine to go under the bridge. The edges aren’t stiff at all
Are you using a floss threader? Dental floss by itself is not stiff enough to get underneath a bridge.
Can you do this with your crowns just asking is it the same thing with your crowns? Can you get back to me? Thank you Amber.
Hi, yes you can use a floss threader with crowns.
@@VeryNiceSmileDental thanks so much. I’m just trying to floss better so I don’t have cavities so trying to do that so I’m gonna do that. Thank you so much. You know how frustrating it is when you got a lot of cavities. I’m trying to keep the teeth. I have just gotta do better at flossing.
I was doing it wrong whole time 😮
All the videos show cleaning bridges that’s at the bottom , my bridge is on the top so it’s difficult I think
Hi, you clean an upper bridge the same way, it just may be a little bit more difficult to see what you're doing in the mirror.
I have a temporary bridge right now.
Be careful cleaning around a temporary bridge, you can pull it loose if you are too aggressive. Thank you very much for watching!
How to treat loose teeth and painful red gums
Hi, see your dentist for an exam and x-rays to see what is going on with your teeth. It sounds like you may have periodontal disease.
That's almost impossible doing it yourself
No, it just takes practice. Thank you very much for watching.
Water flosser is better
I don't care what type of flosser you use, just use one! Thanks for watching!
This is literally impossible for 95% of the planet lol.
Yes, it certainly would be easy if you could take your teeth out and floss them on the table in front of your. However, some of us have to get that fiddly little piece of plastic under our lower teeth in the back of our mouths, and this "instruction" is no use at all.
Thanks for watching.
My Oral Surgeon says these suck & don’t work. HES NOT WRONG!!!
What does he recommend you use to clean under your bridge?
Thank you
