  • In this lesson Lenny Sly sensei teaches the TenShin aikido iriminage breakfall and how he teaches the fundamental skill on how to do so. His method of teaching this iriminage breakfall is one of a kind. This is NOT how Sly sensei was taught. This is better then the way he was taught how to do this breakfall. Sly sensei uses the aikido weapon the JO to teach his students how to take this fall correctly, STEP BY STEP. Sensei goes into extensive detail from the very basics to advanced. Chris Luper one of Sly sensei's senior most student/instructor demonstrates his impeccable ukemi helps to teach this breakfall. This video is truly a must for any aikidoka who is looking to advance their breakfall skills. Every instructional video of BJJ on CZcams involves a compliant partner doing what the host asks, good and slow for people to see.

Yeah I agree with Jordan they really are very concise. Much easier method than I learned lol. I learned out of necessity because I sometimes couldn't walk straight the next day...or five.

at first you show him sitting down and rolling backwards...base of the spine upward towards the upper body...... but later on he's not rolling like the....the utter body/arms hit first..... :? To take the fall....what part touches the ground first? the hands? I predict a few hard slams flat on the back if I tried this or injured elbows/shoulders.......

I am sick and tired of guys who say that aikido is totally worthless. The guys they seem to have seen are generally bad at aikido dispute their belt ranking. The same could be said for karate judo, BUT, kungfu ect.
