it's so extraordinary to see her in 1965 when such a few years later, she would be described as the greatest interviewer in the world for her interviews of Kissinger, Ho Chi Minh, Castro and others. Amazing! Just six or seven years before world fame.

Oriana Fallaci wrote many important works in the following decades, including her books on Islam post-9/11.

Correct names are Oriana Fallaci (1929-2006), Ronan O'Rahilly (1940-2020) and Belle Desrosiers.

Game #1: Being an Italian, I’m excited about this game. Oriana Fallaci was (and still is) a legend in Italian Journalism, as well as one of the most provocative and influential interviewer and writer in the western world. In the latter years of her life, her work was about Islamic culture and Jihadism (I must warn you that her views on the subject could be considered as “Islamophobic”), including her long-form article “La Rabbia e l’Orgoglio” published in the wake of 9/11. She passed away in 2005/2006 (I don’t remember exactly) And no jokes about cigarettes, because she was an adamant smoker.
Game #2: Ronan O'Rahilly - son of a Easter Rising veteran - passed away in 2020, but his creature - Radio Caroline - still lives to this day. Commercial radio in Britain was legalised in the 1970s on a local level and in the 1990s on a national level. But only in 2017 Radio Caroline received for the first time in his history a regular “on shore” broadcasting licence, after years as a pirate and internet station (Ronan was one of those that was against the idea of a “legalised” Caroline). The Caroline North ship is still sailing sometimes offshore for occasional retro broadcasts (even if, due to COVID restrictions, those events are less common than before the pandemic, when the ship was on air for 8/10 times a year). There is SO much to write about the 1960s/70s off shore stations in the North Sea, like Caroline, North Sea or the dutch Veronica. I believe the movie “The Boat that Rocked” was based on Caroline.
    12:09 “How you get there?”
    “By boat.”
    12:49 FCC: “Don’t give ‘em ideas…”

I do love how the thumbnail of Oriana manages to capture that abject look of "I can't believe they're this stupid."

It doesn't seem as if the panel realized that the title of Oriana Fallaci's book, "The Useless Sex," was meant to be ironic.

Notice as the camera swung down from Oriana Fallaci and her imposters to the panel that Kitty did what could be called the "forefinger rub of shame". After that, an interesting round about Ronan O'Rahilly.

The Fallaci segment was almost surreal to me. My knowledge of Fallaci comes from recent events. I did not know much about her early work. It seemed as if the panel was looking into a time machine and speaking to the future and completely misunderstanding it. I love this program, but this segment reveals its limitations. They can deal only superficially with subjects and events and often miss the point.

Oriana Fallaci is the most famous interviewer within living memory.
Maybe her best-kown interview was with the "Ayatollah Khomeini," during which she tore off her chador, causing Khomeini to storm out of the room. She was a feminist, but unlike Friedan and Steinem, she did *not* write exclusively on feminism. History has by no means forgotten her.
