I AM ATHLETE | Season 3: Episode 17
Brandon Marshall and D.J. Williams welcome Bun B, Arian Foster, Kendrick Perkins and Lil’ Keke to the show as they discuss Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, as well as the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to the music industry. #BunB #KendrickPerkins #LilKeke
Arian Foster opens up saying he believes Barry Sanders is the G.O.A.T when it comes to the NFL. The group immediately responds with their opinions starting out with D.J. explaining how Tom Brady is an absolute leader and has the seven rings to back him up. Bun B jokes around and says that D.J. has no idea what kind of battery he is putting in Keke’s back right now since Lil’ Keke is a big Tom Brady fanatic. He says “You’re the energizer bunny right now.”
Brandon asks the group which musical artist is most similar to Tom Brady, as well as Aaron Rodgers. Bun B explains how Tom Brady is most related to Jay Z, while Aaron Rodgers is most similar to Naz. He explains how most new quarterbacks inspire to be Tom Brady, similar to rapper inspiring to be Jay Z. He says Aaron Rodgers is most similar to Naz because he doesn’t love the spotlight and then he goes back in the shadows when he’s off the field.
Bun B shifts the conversation forward and talks about how easy it is nowadays to get your music to the consumers. He explains how Jay Z used the rap to perpetuate other business details that made him a billionaire. The same thing happened to P Diddy. Bun B says that most people would rather be famous, than be rich. Brandon laughs and says that they might need to break down this show and turn it into a Part 2.

Kendrick story about LeBron is dead ass true, factssssss... when he got suspended for the hummer and endorsement deals while in high school, one of the games he sat out was in Toledo, Ohio against Scott or Libbey (one of them) LeBron was sitting on the sideline in street clothes eating a bag of fruit and had 2 gallons of water, people screaming his name, he turns and either waves with a fruit in his hand or a whole gallon of water 🤦🏾 it's crazy hearing Kendrick talk about that
Bun B is very level headed in debates and conducts himself well. This was a great episode , everyone was able to get their points and disagree without anyone getting in their feelings as men should at a round table. Even BMarsh took a backseat this episode and did some of his best work moderating.
That’s Y Everyone in the city call him the Trill OG🤘🏾💪🏾😏
Man I said the same thing he directing it 🔥
Well said he looks like a professional
He be debating with the politicians
I mean Bun is a college professor and has debated about politics with politicians.🤷🏾♂️
B marsh heard the feedback from last week and applied it. Maybe it’s the presence of real OG’s in the room but everyone got chances to speak on every topic. This was a great episode!
Needs to be how he does things going forward.
Facts!!!
One thing i love about it him. He stays in tune
Dude definitely be reading everybody comments 😂
Good points. Also... Great production as well because I noticed on several occasions they cut the mics on different people to aid in centralizing the conversations.
Before I stopped watching Stephen A. and discovered "I Am Athlete", I watched an episode when Stephen A addressed Perk without an ounce of respect. To see Perk surrounded by other Kings - in his element, with all of you beautiful, strong, knowledgeable Men. Showing each other respect. Listening to each other and respecting different perspectives is a Hallelujah moment. May God continue to bless you. PEACE.
Stephan A.. is not on every espn network lol don't let one man get under your skin.. recognize it's just his opinion 🤷
Perk and Stephen A. are literally best friends. LMAO. You sound upset when he ain’t.
I watch every episodes to me they are millionaires but don't act like it everyday people.
SAS will be on IAM soon. BMarsh shared on Twitter
@@The-Real-One- all he said was he stopped watching Stephen A….
dope to have Bun / Keke getting this look… southern legends
Congratulations to B. Marsh for learning to let people tell their story and stop talking over others trying to make his point.

B Marsh is doin a MUCH better job of letting his guests TALK. Right on B Marsh!
Wrong time tho shoulda been did that

@@shakratdosunmu5232 thank you
Nah it’s because he’s around people that won’t let him over talk them
Show would be better without him. He do too much
“Arian… I been confused since you started talking” ….I just spilt my drink 🤣🤣🤣
I love they have the OG’ Keke and Bun on this episode 🔥🔥🔥
Bun B is always collective in his argument and shoots straight to the point at the same time tries to break down the details.
The best part of this video is having Bun B from Port Arthur and Big Perk from Beaumont on the same podcast. This is two small rival cities next to each other with representation on the same show.
Is it like a sports rivalry thing? I’m from Chicago so I’m unfamiliar.
@@tronskee32 it's a rivalry with everything. They are 5 minutes apart.
I like that KP was silent when they were talking about topics that he didn’t know about. That’s the way to do it. Big ups, Perk
Keke is a thought leader for real. Dude is full of wisdom
Brady is the 🐐 not because he's the most talented but because he's the most consistent. No he didn't have to carry every team he played on, but he made the necessary plays he NEEDED to more consistently then anyone else.
Not only that, Brady is the smartest, most prepared, andd the most clutch QB in NFL history.
@@mytowntrill5441 Peyton and Ed Reed can compete for most prepared with Brady
@@itsautomatik1470 Ofcourse, along with Deion, Montana, Jim Brown, Jerry Rice, Ray Lewis, Terrell Owens, Darrell Revis, Larry Fitzgerald, Drew Brees, JJ Watt, Andre Johnson. . . but how CLUTCH were they compared to Brady?
@@mytowntrill5441 Ed Reed was clutch
Brady got the gift of gab! It's a heart thing! If your heart is right it comes out your mouth right! Too easy!
Man! DJ got me dying!!. He wanted to talk about NFTs so bad! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got everything he was saying. Just the wrong audience.
If a independent artist creates music and its a non fungible Token they own their I.P and make royalties with every sale. But they of course have to not be signed to a particular label. What bun B was saying is that they can't make A NFT without the label involved due to contractual agreement.
Dj is right..
Everyone was able to finish their sentence. We had a grown man conversation! This episode was awesome.
I think Dak isn’t just dealing with injury but also he had 2 people really close to him pass away too. People forget that athletes are human beings too.
That could b true, but once u put those pads on everything goes out the window.
Thank you. Next season will be better for them
@@easytownbound That sounds cute, but nobody I know actually forgets about personal losses when they clock in at their jobs.

This is what we need ‼️ Football, Basketball, Hip-Hop talks/debates. One of a kind podcast nothing like this ‼️
This was a great episode! Much love from Dallas to that H-town. Definitely need a part two.
I started working from home because of the pandemic. I am generally home alone in a quiet house, this is after working in an office for 20 years. This show keeps me entertained. The conversations are so good. I love the different guest and point of views. To Brandon, this show is keeping me sane, keep up the great work.
Y’all got something special. Great raw convos and solid production.
Great convo...love the comparing and contrasting of hip-hop & sports from the business perspective. I enjoyed the different points and is a much needed conversation.
B Marsh doing a great job with his show, seems like he knows exactly what guest he needs to make the episode epic...
probably one of the best episodes til date!!! Love the different dynamics!!
I get what Arian is attempting to establish but I think he’s missing one key aspect. The difference (and I believe KeKe was trying to say this) is the NFL is one governing body that a union can negotiate with. In the music industry, there’s millions of governing bodies - from large labels, smaller labels, distribution companies, marketing companies, signing to individual artists, radio, etc. Therefore, it’s impossible for one union to collaborate in efforts against millions of different governing bodies vs the one governing body athletes can bargain with. This is why having a good lawyer, is your only “union”-like option before signing anything.
Actors have a union. Rap could do it. It’s more to the point of why though? Like for who for what?
I get what Arian is saying too but def harder said than done. The music industry is so broad and it can be hard to get everyone to buy in.
@@TheNumbasign2 that’s a good point. I agree on the question, what is the want? I think we all agree on the emphasis of establishing representation - whether by lawyer, union, or both. I still believe it’s slightly more difficult in music than the film industry, due to the extensive variability. Large film companies bought into the idea of becoming unionized. It might be too many nuanced entities to replicate in music It’s worth a try though
@@christiancampbell893 Film has its independent side just like music has. But once the artwork/content hits the main stage / airways you have to be in the screen actors Guild. You have to be. And I’m not for unions of any kind . But it can be done . If everyone can launch on a streaming service. They can be held to the same standards , if there music charts or does a curtain amount of streams. Making them liable for certain dues and eligible for certain benefits.
@@TheNumbasign2 valid
I won’t say a lot about this one it was solid definitely glad to hear legends like Bun B and Keke on but don’t ever bring Arian Foster on again

This needs a part 2. Great show. Great views from everyone.
Naw the rappers had dumb views 🤷🏾♂️
This was a great episode. B. Marsh did a great job moderating the room this episode and gave room for everyone to speak. 👏🏾
AWESOME EPISODE!! We need that Part 2 for sure!!
Not Messin with this channel like that no more but thanks for this episode. Houston stand up!
Loved this episode. Definitely a change of pace and hey I’m a Texas boy Port Arthur to be exact! Loved seeing Bun and Keke on here. IAA Houston would be 🔥🔥🔥🔥
And Kendrick is from Beaumont
Amazing episode!!! Can't wait to see what's next for the team and BRAND
WELL DONE, Brandon. MUCH better episode moderating, and the quality reflected that!
Great show for starters! Arian has a dream to galvanize brothers and sisters to all move according to the greater vision. I have learned, humans are humans, and there in lies the flawed thinking, but I admire his intent. Bun is what I call a really wise intelligent brother!
Awesome episode. Pimp C was a creative genius
Great episode! Great to see Arian too!
This was the best interview B marsh has hosted. He’s learning how to allow smooth transition in between conversations without trying to force his point to be heard!! Great job‼️
Dj relaxing hitting that cigar during the argument got me weak 😂😂😂😂
Bun B is true OG.He listens to HEAR thus he formulates valid and constructive rebuttals.Arian listens to RESPOND,and although he has great points ,they get lost because he comes off as being argumentative.Lil Keke,DEFINITELY LISTENS TO RESPOND...LOUDLY!!As such, he's not taken serious at all.Just because you're yelling doesn't mean you are right, winning the argument,or making any sense.
Awesome show again.
From Pasadena, CA. Been rocking with Bun & Keke for Longtime.
The edits Killin the vibe
Kendrick Perkins: Arian Hold up. I been confused since you been talking.
Me: 😂😂😂 Thank you bruh!!!
Lol Kendrick was speaking for most of us lol Arian was talking in circles and Bun had the most patience to try to explain it to him like if he was one of his college students. Keke closed it out perfectly though in a short straight to the point statement.
Actually I understood exactly what Arian Foster was trying to say
Time stamp it please lmaooo
We definitely need a part 2
Being from houston i really loved this show! ty for showing the world bun b and lil keke!

I love.this podcast! I wanted to turn to something else, but couldn’t turn away! Keep putting in that work!🤟🏾
This was a great discussion, well balanced arguments, good points and most important thing is athlete talk
Damn. Beaumont, Port Arthur and Houston TX in the building!
Do people realize that aside from the 7 rings Brady holds records for the most TDs, Yards, completions in regular season holds records for most TDs, Yards, Completions in playoffs and SBs has the most GW drives in playoffs etc etc lol 😂
Exactly! They act like he just has all these rings, but haven't done anything outside of that. Lol
Arian was just salty the patriots man handled his team all those years he was there
I'm wit u on Brady being the GOAT but the reason he has all those stats is because he's played 50 yrs lol, better way is checking avgs
That's because the only ppl who have played more seasons than him were born in the 50's and 60's. Yall have to look at everything when you're giving stats. He's 44 with 22 seasons under his belt. Unless you're my guy Morten Anderson, you're not beating that. 😂
They just hate him so much that they can't see what's in front of them. Dude have 35 playoffs wins just because everything is falling in his hands lol
B Marshall best episode 👏

@@ATLMike94 Who Said It Would Only Be Twice A Month ?
@@ATLMike94 there was a stable cast already set in this podcast series who as we all know have ventured on to do their own thing but the question has to be asked is why didn’t Brandon just separate IAA Miami and IAA nascar from day 1, if he had then it’s fair to claim those dudes would still be here. Nascar is cool terms of open a new volume of audience but when he began it he forced it down our throats every week so naturally Chan and Fred were like cool bro we ain’t sticking to this but now look. Bo Jackson was probably and still probably they greatest athlete to play in the NFl. Just imagine the career that man would of had with the God gifted strength and speed. Like none other
It's a tie for me between him and Prime
Bullet Bob Hayes of the Dallas Cowboys, who was the 1964 Olympic 100 meter gold medalist. He also won gold in the 4x100 meter relay. And Bob Hayes is the ONLY man to win a Olympic gold medal and a Superbowl championship. The key word is "athlete". Prime, Bo Jackson, Jim Brown (great college Lacross player), Woody Strode, one of the first African-Americans to play in the NFL in 1944, was a world class decathlete, and the aforementioned
Bob Hayes stands out among the rest.
Barry sanders is what people think Bo Jackson is. Everything Bo was supposed to be Barry was except for a baseball player… but baseball sucks ass so who gives a fuck
Bo, is it. There is is no was about it. 😋 Seriously though that dude was a beast. There's playing the game, then there's playing it well, and then there's magic. And that's where Bo comes in, magic. Most of the guys just play the game and have some great game, a few play the game really well and become the face of teams, and then there's even fewer like Bo who was just a freak of nature in some sense that are in a league of their own and as great as they are would rather just go eat a peanut butter sandwich than talk about being the greatest, or awards, etc.
Prime, Rice, Taylor, B Sanders, Brady really its all about who u prefer
Definitely want to see more of Bun B!! Never knew he was this well spoken and versed. PERK talk yo shxt!!!! Dak should've sat down somewhere and completely healed. Physically and mentally. But yeah, we want more of Bun B!

@@MrSpicabooo that’s exactly why I stopped listening to that pod. Lmao ok you’re more then an athlete bruh, got it damn 😂
I remember the moment when I realized that Arian was done, there was a game where he was battling his ass off and had a great game, and they where just loosing, I could seen it un his eyes that he was the only person out there battling, and he just started walking up and down the sidelines and I knew he was over it, why battle this hard to loose.. he could've been a hall of fame RB on a different team.
*Lose
I'm a Texans fan, yeah arian did go hard and I saw the same.
Also, it's shows you he didn't have what the Hall of Famers and legends have. They talked about the "It" factor. He didn't have it. He's a different kind of dude, just thinks different. He wasn't meant for the NFL. He didn't want to sacrifice his time, body for a corporation. He talks about being a collective, we work together for each other. Yet like u said, he gave up on his team bc they weren't on his level. He was crazy talented but did he have the leadership skills (like Brady) to bring players up to his level? Fascinating. Hope he becomes a community organizer to put his point of view to good use. We need all different perspectives

Great example of "idealism" vs "realism", great discussion. These idealistic points Foster is making don't hold in other cultures that aren't dominated by minorities either, thats what is forgotten.
Arian Foster's argument make sense when you talk about someone like Robert Horry (7 rings), but when the one of the best player, the leader, the QB (Tom Brady) have 7 rings, its 100% everything to do with Tom Brady. Give Tom Brady his credit, he's the GOAT.
