2019 Honda Passport Review - Can We Live with 2 Rows?

  • First was the 2 row SUV, then the 3 row SUV. Well now, the 2 row is making a comeback with more attitude and style. The Honda Passport is the latest entry into this segment. With more style and 2nr row room than the 3 row Honda Pilot.

    This is our first Honda, we have been a GM family forever, our daughter bought a new Honda Truck for business reasons, so we bought this passport Elite, we are totally in awe of this car. GMC, you’ve got some catching up to do. Still learning all the features, the ride is relaxing, when I get done with a road trip, I’m not the least bit tired, never experienced that ever and we have always had new cars SUVs APVs, very nice trucks, none compares to the Honda Elite we are now driving. Like the hands free, kick your foot to open the cargo door. 👍🏻👍🏻

    I love this passport! I need only 5 passenger seating and love the big cargo/storage space. I also like the look better than the pilot. It's a winner for me.

    We are thinking of buying this, we had a Honda Pilot and that thing was bullet proof, sold it with 290,000 miles on it and never had a single issue with it. Now I don't need a third seat this may work nicely.

      I have no regrets. Love it as much as the day I discovered it!! Great Car. You need to step up with your outside foot on the running boards, the only thing I do not love. I would not have added them but it was the last 2019 Passport at my dealer. I am learning to work with them.

    I'm going to test drive a 2019 Honda Passport tomorrow. I've been watching many review videos to get an idea about this vehicle. I was considering the Honda Pilot because I honestly did not know that the passport really existed. I think for me the passport will fit the bill perfectly in the pilot is just a little bit more than I need and more money as well. By the way this is the most adorable video I have seen for a car review because your family was in the car with you and even participated. Wow it was so cool thank you so much

    I had a 2007 Honda Pilot for ten years and put nearly 200,000 miles on it, and boy! I really abused that car on long road trips, light off-roading, hauling and towing and I never even had to replace a lightbulb on it, just regular maintenance. When it came time to sell, the new owner could not believe how tight it still drove. By far the best car I have ever owned, only thing I did not like was the somewhat awkward boxy design. The new Pilot's design is much more attractive, but a bit too minivan-ish for my taste. The Passport fixes that, it looks much more SUV-like, rugged and sporty, and the shorter dimensions is actually a plus for me, given that I do not need a third row. There may be some SUVs out there a bit more attractive, nonetheless, my first consideration when choosing a car is RELIABILITY, and on this respect, my experience is that only Toyota comes close to rival Honda.
    I just got my new 2021 Passport Sport AWD last week, and I am looking forward to another problem-free and awesome ten years with it!

    I love so much about this car, but it does have some deal-breakers i hope they address in the 2020 model. I simply must have birdseye camera for parking. I am not a fan of touch bottons for gear-shifting, but i suppose i could get used to it. For the sticker price I wish the interior was more lavish & offered light tan finish options, but I can live with that, too. Otherwise, I would buy this in a heartbeat.

      @randallstewart175 Před 4 lety

      Just bought a Passport Touring. The exterior color options are okay, but he interiors come in black and "dirty white". The salesman thought it was a deal breaker when I asked him to tear the tan interior out of the Pilot sitting in the showroom and put in my car. Ended up with black leather. I'll throw an old bed sheet on it when I go to the desert.

    I was looking for a month for a midsize suv. I couldn’t believe that most of them came with a 4 cylinder with turbo. Are you kidding me. Your gonna have a small engine pulling all that weight. I couldn’t see getting a 100 thousand miles on these small 4 cylinders without major engine problems. I was really up in the air on which suv to buy because the Honda elite was almost 10 grand more than some of the other midsize suv. I sucked it up and bought the Honda elite 6 cylinder 280 HP with 5000 pounds of towing capacity. I could care less about the bells and whistles but what’s under the hood. This suv drives smooth with the 20 inch wheels. The acceleration was very good as well. I would highly spending more money and getting the Honda elite. It’s a very nice ride.

    I'm torn on which SUV to get. I love most every thing about the Honda Passport except for the lack of a raised, padded center console which I like to rest my arm on. The built in chair arm rests seem too restricting for my comfort. Also, the dash seems a bit dated. I love most every thing about the Acura RDX, but that only tows 1500 lbs whereas the Passport can tow 5000 lbs. Currently drive an F150 which is great for hauling, but I only do that occasionally so looking to trade in for a more comfortable, daily ride. Nice review!

  • @Maddog-nb9vu
    @Maddog-nb9vu Před 5 lety +2

    I think the Passport, especially in the base trim Canada, is not well enough equipped for the price you pay. The base version doesn't even come with a power lift gate on a vehicle which cost $42,000. Something that most ladies want or need in a vehicle this size. The new 2020 Outback Touring, which is second trim from bottom, you are getting a lot more bang for your buck. More features, including that power lift gate and at least $7000 cheaper. Even the new Outback Outdoor XT, with the new 2.5L turbo, has similar power, better equipped, better fuel economy is still $3400 cheaper. The thing that really bothers me with manufactures is that if you want a well equipped vehicle you are force to get one with leather seating. I am not a fan of leather. I find that good quality cloth wears much better and is more comfortable. Even the synthetic leather, such as I currently have in my Toyota Prius V (SofTex), is much superior, wears better, looks just as good and is more comfortable than any leather you can find in vehicles this price range.

What a huge fail on their part when the rest of the product is great. I don't say this lightly, probably the worst designed cluster of any vehicle. I don't get honda's for all they do well. @John Thomas Welcome from out under your rock. Things have changed recently.
      You can't just claim your cars are the most reliable or the highest quality without having substantial evidence to back up what you're saying. Otherwise the networks won't run the spots. They want to see robust proof of the claim. And not necessarily because they're such nice, selfless people, but because the network wants to sell commercials to other companies as well. If one were to make a baseless claim about another, the other company might pull its advertising. Or sue. Or both.
      There's no reason to doubt that Chevy did, as it claims, commission global survey taker Ipsos to conduct a 50,000-vehicle survey and that that survey showed Chevy was #1 in reliability. Car & Driver

      So Chevy paid for the research which “unrelatedly” then found that Chevy was reliable! What a surprise, who could have seen that coming?? Also, you fail to identify what the criteria were, as well as any specific result (e.g. Chevy is X% more reliable than Brand Y). You also failed to break this down by particular vehicle (e.g. a Blazer is X% more reliable than a competitor’s similar model). You also fail to mention what year or years of vehicles were compared, or whether the research was for initial quality or after a certain other period of ownership. So your offering of proof and evidence of Chevy’ supposed premium quality falls very short of convincing any critical thinker.
