Next: SRV, "Tin Pan Alley", live with Johnny Copeland. The grittiest blues you will ever hear, performed by two artists showing each other much respect, but at the same time, neither holding anything back. And you get to hear Stevie singing with real feeling. What more do you want?! :)

Stevie was the GOAT! His emotions flowed out thru his playing and nothing about him was rehearsed. Personally he was a very humble man never letting fame or money change him. He always held his blues hero's above himself and talked about them constantly. Stevie brought back the blues in the eighties and recharged many great blues guitar players careers when he played with them he never tried to steal the spotlight from them. We lost a legend the day he died.

May i interest you in another texas "Rock blues" group? Recently their bassist passed, but to that point they were together preforming for over 50 years... they are in their "70's" but I promise you (even with the replacement bassist) they STILL blow it up today. They have 50 years of music... So let me offer a video of them at 70 + years old... then you will see another hidden legend from Texas. here is a link to them live at gruene hall texas.... just practicing. Stevie is Stevie and there'll never be another guitar slinger like him come this way in our lifetimes.
But I gotta give some love to his band, Double Trouble. The quintessential definition of living in the pocket in perpetuity.
    Chris Layton - Drums
    Tommy Shannon - Bass
    Reese Wynans - Keyboard
Double Trouble was already a phenomenal collection of top shelf musicians with just Layton and Shannon but when they added Wynans in '85, this band left no roof intact. Such an unimaginable collection of talent that had nothing but the sky as its limit. Stevie's death left us all with a deep hole in our music-loving hearts, but I cannot imagine how much pain these guys had to work through.

Hendrix was an amazing composer, and a great player. Stevie is a better singer, and plays better. He just doesn't have as wide a scope to paint with that Hendrix did. Eddie Van Halen was a totally different kind of g.o.a.t. , different style of playing. There are about 2 dozen guitarists in rock that are all so in tune with their instrument through thousands of hours of noodling on the guitar at home on Friday and Saturday nights to learn their voice. And I can't think of 1 great guitarist that actually reads music, it is all by ear, and learning the scale positions, over and over and over.

While Jimmy was a genius, Stevie was a master. Both GOATs in their own rights. Stevies voice has been described as "Honey poured over gravel." If you want to hear him sing, do "Texas Flood" live at El Mocambo.

If you click on his name "MMBxMOB" under the title of the video, you'll see that he reacted to "Texas Flood" live at El Mocambo 2 weeks ago. It was the first reaction I heard him do!

Look up wall of denial. Have never seen anyone react to it but I personally think it’s powerful.

8:25 "Just give me a second, I'm coming. Just give me a second."
That's what she said! #groan. Yes I know. But I couldn't resist. Yeah man I only know this off that first album. And I love it it's just a very short song but it's so beautiful and it totally is it send up of the little children's song that we all learn you know. And it has one of the greatest riffs in the world to it. I often recommend it and I've never seen anybody react to it possibly because it's too short. But man I didn't even know this life footage of that existed. So thank you very much for opening this up for me man I'm loving it.
